4'9" is the legal height for being a little person, I think. There are taller little people but I personally am not, I just am short, but in proportion.
One of my best friends is 5'1" and her fiance is 6'5".
I put "you deserved it" mainly because I used to be that short in high school. All the girls my height were taken by 6+ footers. It left nothing for the short guys. That's just creepy. He deserves to get that thrown in his face that he's dating a girl way too short for him.

Employees who assume they know relations between people and speak openly as if there's no doubt that they are correct piss me off. It's rude. I don't care if you're trying to be friendly. When you work with customers, you never assume they are siblings, dating, married, child/parent, or anything like that. It's presumptuous and rude. Even if they're correct in their assumption, I don't want STRABGERS analyzing the relationships I have with other people. Okay, first off: People dissing on shorter people and saying short girls need to not date tall guys - shut the FUCK UP! Do you have any idea how ignorant and totally idiotic you all sound? Secondly: People cannot control how tall they are, yes you can get surgeries to extend your height or whatever, or you can wear heels, but honestly, is that really important? No, I do not think so. People being shorter than you or taller is highly unimportant. The fact that this girl is 4'11 in no way means she deserved the waitress making such an insulting comment.
Thirdly: I am very sorry you had to be insulted in such a way, that is inexcusable. Though I must say, it was probably done on purpose. Females can be a bit... more cruel you could say, than males. Just try and ignore it and don't let it get to you, if it is getting to you.
I personally think short girls are sexy, I prefer dating women shorter than myself. But then I am 5'4 so a height difference is never really prominent.
wow, some people here are kind of stupid, a LEGAL MIDGET is only 4' 9" and maybe the OP is not 18 yet, thus, they are not done growing. Not to mention if they have irish/scottish blood they will end up being short-er than average anyways. It all counts on heritage, the family's average height for women, and of course, their age.
OP:: I feel your pain, my boyfriend is about 6 foot possibly a little higher, and I am 4' 11" plus a little smidgen, and I still get a kid's menu when I go places. it sucks.

okay kinda funny how I stumbled upon this scenario...my boyfriend's younger sister found this and asked if it was me, because the exact proportions relate to me and my boyfriend, except for the fact that we look nothing alike. But that hostess was definitely a B**ch with a capital B! Btw, he loves both my height and personality. I've heard every short joke in the book, but they mean nothing to me. My height just gives me the advantage to use tall people to reach things on the top shelf lol.

No, because when I was 13, I was 4'11; When my mom, and I went to a restaurant, the waitress came up to my mom, and asked if I need a booster seat/or the kid's menu. The booster seat is for 4-9 year olds, and the high chairs are for 1-3 year olds.

I would have punched her in the face. I'm 5' and where I live that's not super short, and a lot of the guys here prefer short girls. I think it's only in places where people are mostly white and or black that being short is considerd a bad thing. In the town next to mine every one is mexican so when I go there to buy clothes I'm actually taller than a lot of the people there, same with towns that have a lot of asians. Plus it's better to be short and petite than tall and manly.
