hahaha that sounds like something my mom would do!
this isn't really an FML though ... you just have a mom who seems to have anxiety issues when it comes to you driving...
Exactly, and I wonder if your mom freaks out on busy/unfamiliar streets when SHE is the one driving? My mom does. She'll literally cry and hyperventilate.
It's more of a FHL than FYL.
You're obviously a bad driver. Get a bus pass.
ohh the joys of driving...
My mom did that when I got my learner's permit.
My mom said shes not going to get into the car with me. Ever. She still wont get in the car with my 21 year old brother behind the wheel..
my mom is the complete opposite. she won't drive if my brother or i am in the car. she'll make one of us drive.
This is when you tell her to calm down and everything will be fine and then peel out and slam the brakes and tell her thats what you learned in need for speed

ok then she will have a heart attack but still hilarious

i drove my mum to doctors once.. she kept telling me to slow down... i was doing 15 miles an hour

You drive me crazy, oooh oooh!
...Miscellaneous 80's music reference. Because I can.
Let's see... it was your first drive in YOUR new car. And the FML here is that your mom is worried? You sound like a spoiled brat who doesn't have any actual issues, and so you complain about nothing instead.
Let me guess, your parents paid for the car?
Let me guess, your a stupid bitch?

I am neither stupid nor bitchy. I can also spell contractions properly; I suggest you do the same.
Too many negative votes, comment buried. Show the comment.
YDI, since women can't drive.
You should have started turnin da wheel back and forth and screamed were gunna crash! Haha
I was actually under the impression from reading that, that she was only kidding. If my mom did that to me, I know for a fact that she would be kidding. My grandma... not so much. :D
Ahhh this totally happens to me every time my mom takes me out driving. (You know to practice in empty parking lots or whatever) I was driving around the parking lot when she grabs the wheel and screams we're going to fall off the edge even though we were on a completely flat surface. Like what, the edge of the world? Then my mom got all upset when I told her she was ruining driving for me and I didn't like it.
Hahaha! What the fuck? You're in a parking lot, and you're gonna fall off the edge? I just pissed myself.

This is why when I get my permit I will only have my dad in the car.
We have the same mothers.
haha. im 18 and have had my license since my 16th birthday.
my parents STILL do that when they ride with me. and my friends mom stops and freaks out when leaves blow across the road...
See, it was role reversal when I was learning to drive...except I wasn't freaking out, I couldn't stop giggling and my mom was trying to calm me down.
Imagine that traffic stop. Please ignore my mother I know shes trashed and teaching me but there was really no other way. I know how he feels though. The only time my mother will get in the vehicle with me is when she has had pain meds that make her loopy. Ive been driving for 5 years and never had a accident.
Have her calm down, Then get her out for some fresh air, And slowly drive away...
You're a woman driver... of course she should be worried!
I got a similar problem that's preventing me from having a refresher's course of driving.
That's why I'm 18 and still don't have my license. My dad was like that and I couldn't drive with him. I finally moved out and am driving with my fiance. Going to get my license in a month, cause you apparently have to be 19 to get it in virginia unless you take drivers ed (which i can't afford)
*****Driving with my dad!*****
I turn onto a road with a 45mph speed limit. I had previously been stopped, so my speed is about 20
"ERIN SLOW DOWN!"
"I'm only going 20 and the speed limits 45."
"YOU'RE GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF YOU DO'NT SLOW DOWN!"
"I"m going to cause and accident if I don't speed up!"
"ERIN YOU MAKE ME NERVOUS!" (I ignore him, finally reach 40 mph and decide that's close enough to 45.)
"SLOW DOWN THERE'S A STOP SIGN COMING UP!"
"That's not for another mile and a half."
"BUT YOU CAN'T WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE *AT* THE STOP SIGN TO SLOW DOWN."
"If I start slowing down from here I'll be at a dead stop way before then."
"PULL THE CAR OVER! I'M DRIVING! YOU MAKE ME NERVOUS!"
XD Oh wow...and I thought having my driving 'instructor' screaming at me in Spanish was bad. I'm 21 and STILL have no license. The last time I had a decent chance behind the wheel was when I was 16.
Haha. I love how I totally posted that under the wrong username. (Note to self-always check to see if your friends are logged in to FML on your computer before posting. lol)
Anyways, yeah it was horrible. Whatever though. Yeah. I drove with my mom before that and drove fine, but her car broke, so I couldn't drive in that one either.
wow..you should have sped up really fast that wouldve taught him a lesson but then again the next time you were in a car with him you would be taking him to the hospital or therapist

What a spoiled brat, she's never even drove before and has a new car.
#31 - On 10/10/2009 at 7:47pm by jane99
First of all, if it's driven, not drove. And the OP never said she hadn't driven before, just that it's her first drive in that particular car. Also, you have no right to call someone you don't even know a "spoiled brat." Most people call a car "new" because it's new to them. It's probably a used car. But even if it's a brand new car, who says she didn't pay for it herself? Right. Nobody. Don't assume, it makes an A-S-S out of U and M-E. Well, more you than me.
Where did it say she never drove before or even how old the poster is? My fiance is 26 and his mother still refuses to drive in his car, even the new one he bought with his own cash. Heck, even when I earned my license as a teenager I was given an old used car but it was "new" to me.
Sooo many assumptions.
Why would her mother be screaming if the daughter was an experienced driver?
#53 - On 10/11/2009 at 10:51pm by jane99
Why would she be screaming in a PARKED car anyways? Mother is nuts. End of story.
Haha my mom freaks about me behind the wheel too. I've been driving for over 2 years, no tickets and no accidents what-so-ever, yet she refuses to get into the car with me. I remember one time her car was basically out of gas. The empty light was on so I offered to take my car, which had a full tank of gas. She said only if she could drive. I said no, I want to drive my car since I know how to get where we were going anyway. She said no let's take her out-of-gas car. I don't know what makes her think she's the world's most perfect driver, but whatever. At least I didn't have to waste my gas. =o)
So, OP don't take it too seriously. Just drive carefully, follow the all the rules of the road and eventually your mother will see that you're a good driver (unless you have a mother like mine, haha.)
your mom needs a chill pill XD
uh... what the fuck is wrong with your mom??? if she is going to do that, tell her to get the hell out of your car and that you dont need to put up with her crap.
in the middle east a girl cant get a license or car or drive without a MALE relatives permission. the male must be in the car at all times too :)
I'll always remember on my first driving lesson (and first time behind the wheel of a car) my driving instructor had me turn on to the belt parkway....and inside I panicked.
For those of you not from New York...the belt parkway is......fun.
It looks as though your first vehicular errand might be taking your mother to either rehab or a psychiatrist. FYL.
hahahahahaha. i wont be suprised if the person will be taking the mother there

Geez...your mom sounds way too emotional to be a competent driver in the first place. I would suggest not taking driving advice from her. Do you have a brother/dad you could ask to teach you?
Reminds me of spongebob and mrs puff
