Now, if the cop was overtaking you then it's posiible. It's happened to me ... not with a cop ... but a gigornomous guy on a bike who was definitely not happy when a cigarette butt got stuck between his helmet and jacket.

One time someone flicked a cig butt and it caught in my shirt. My shirt caught on fire while I was riding my bike at 55MPH. Not fun riding when your cloths catch on fire because I almost wrecked trying to stop and put it out. Later caught up the guy, got the plates make, color of car, direction and called the cops. Cop finally pulls the guy over and he gets out screaming that he was not speeding and is being harrassed. I showed him the hole in my shirt. he starts screaming at me, and I scream in return, cop calls for backup. Backup arrives and I talk with him and show him my shirt. The first cop talks to the guy in the car, goes back to his squad car, within 3 minutes there are a couple more cops. The guy who flicked the cig butt, had a outstanding warrent, no liscense or insurance.

Well something very similar happened to me about 30 years ago. I was in a first floor bedroom with a girl friend who was smoking.... This was in Spinney Hill in Leicester (with a very high immigrant population).

She finished her cigarette, but didn't stub it out. Lifted up the lower sash of the window and threw the cigarette out the window towards the pavement. Neither of us looked out the window at the time. Maybe 30 seconds later both of us heard some screaming and cursing from outside!

A plume of smoke was coming out of a Sikh's turban and he was hopping mad! Both of us snorted so loudly (in fact I was nearly rolling on the floor in hysterics) that he immediately looked up at us and realized where the fag end had come from!

Someone posted a story very similar to this a while ago, so I'm a bit wary on the validity of this FML. I think the previous one, though, was someone who got pulled over, flicked out his cigarette butt, and accidently hit the cop while he was walking up to the car.

Those reports also just look at the fact the person was a smoker and blames their death on smoking.

My point was that its not just smoking that kills people. There are other factors. I know smoking contributes to many health problems, but smoking alone cannot be blamed. There are other enviromental reasons for someone to end up with cancer. Hell, even your Genes play a role!
