Today I was taking a picture with my friend who has a camera which can pick out a certain color and only have that color show up in the picture. She chose yellow because of the yellow on my dress, and when she showed me the picture the sash wasn't the only yellow thing-my teeth showed up too. FML

Well...teeth aren't supposed to be white, the natural color has a yellowish tint, I would think anyone's teeth would show up. Unless one has freaky white teeth.

It's not always just brushing your teeth. Some people just get yellow teeth over time. I'd recommend getting your teeth whitened. Many people do it nowadays and it's not that expensive.
Technology can do some terrible things.... If you tried it again at high noon with a cooler light, maybe your teeth wouldn't have shown up! Colours and the colour temperature of light can be tricky things.
I have a camera like that! i love it! haha
but i have a similar story. Once I was trying to take pictures of my face where i just highlighted the blue in my eyes, and the veins under my eyes showed up too.
this isn't really an fml, though. but still kinda embarrassing.

I have yellowed Teeth because of my decisions as a kid not to brush me teeth and play games instead.
I can't use any form of whitening except for the toothpaste because im not 18 yet, So im not allowed to get my Crown. I have a bonding (Artificial tooth piece) in my mouth because of an accident in 2006 (Falling down a 2 story concrete staircase head first), And any form of whitening makes the bonding come out of my mouth.
This person could either not afford the whitening, Isn't able to use the whitening because of a bonding or whatever, Or decisions as a kid, But i doubt they would want to have Yellow Teeth right now.
Oh and before anyone replies to this with the Tooth Whitening toothpaste, That stuff doesn't actually work, Its just a polish.

Isn't there an option where the dentists can actually put like a paint over your teeth? It's not paint exactly, but it makes your teeth look whiter if you have naturally yellow/brown spots on them.

It's not your fault. I brush my teeth everyday and it's just what I eat and drink. It's natural! Lighten up, nothing a little Photoshop can't fix! Remember, everyone has that problem, even they say they don't! It's completely natural.

And I like how everyone is saying to brush your teeth, but if you drink a lot of dark colored beverages it'll stain your teeth no matter how much you brush. Just get them bleached at the dentist's office :) it's worth every penny.

To the people saying this is dicusting... people are BORN with different shades of teeth. This is a GENETIC thing most of the time. However, the OP could invest in teeth whitening which helps whiten the teeth YOU ARE BORN WITH.

Almost all Canon digital cameras have this function. It is called 'colour accent'. You center the camera on something that is the colour you want, hit 'set' to select it, and then push down to desaturate everything but that selected colour. It makes for some interesting effects.

By the way...the color of your teeth is actually determined by genetic factors as well...so even if you brush your teeth regularly or use the white strips to prevent them from further discoloration from drinking coffee, smoking etc., you might never get past a certain shade of yellow/white...to get them visibly whiter you really have to go to the dentist and get them bleached

Everyone has yellow teeth. Unless you're a television personality, there's no need to worry about it. I'll bet your friend's teeth would have been on display too, had she been in the frame.
Yellow teeth are natural. You can brush and brush and floss and floss and your teeth can still turn yellow. The idea that everyone must have dazzling white teeth is an invention of Hollywood and the toothpaste industry. If you're really that self-conscious about it then talk to your dentist, but for pity's sake, don't beat yourself up about it or feel ashamed. It's natural, and don't listen to these other folks who say YDI and tell you to brush. They don't get it.

I have a friend that was born insufficiant enamel (or maybe none, I dunno) and his teeth have a slight yellow tint and scar easily, even though he brushes, drinks water 90% of the time (that's all I ever see him drink), and doesn't smoke.
I brush my teeth/don't smoke/don't drink coffee and they were yellow ever since I can remember up until a few days ago when they polished them at the orthodontist (it wasn't a toothbrush, they used some tool I'd never seen or heard of), which was completely painless and removed the stains. I've used whitestrips on several different occasions and they never did anything.
What helps is baking soda. Just put some of the powder on your toothbrush, wet it, and brush. Then follow up with toothpaste. It works.
The funny thing is that noone has yet given a specific camera model with this "feature". So I call it bullshit.

As long as you're teeth aren't decaying you're fine. Very few (if any) people have naturally bright white teeth. I knew a guy at school whose teeth were bright white, not from him brushing them, but because of the type of decay on his teeth turned them bright white...

We're just sold on the idea of white white white white white teeth by advertising and dentists wanting to make quick bucks by doing whitening treatments (which are usually not covered by insurance). Slightly yellowed teeth are nothing to be ashamed of, it's normal. Seriously, it's all the dazzling white teeth you see that are not normal.

My teeth are nice and white, and no, they haven't been whitened with strips or anything, so how can a teenager like the OP have yellow teeth "naturally" if she brushes her teeth twice a day or after every meal like she's supposed to? I have used whitening products, and they still stay yellow. Only a dentist can remove the stains from my teeth. So leave the FMLer alone, guys

Aww it's okay. Almost EVERYONE'S teeth have a natural yellow undertone to them, and it has nothing to do with how little you brush them. Don't listen to the dumb asses that tell you otherwise.
If you're sensitive about their appearance though, try getting your dentist to professionally whiten them, or even recommend some other product.

They just invented this new thing that kind of looks like a stick with thick hair at the end. It's called a tooth brush. They even have this really cool pasty stuff you put on it called tooth paste. You should try it sometime. I hear it works wonders.

Yellow teeth is natural. I used to have white teeth as a child but as the baby teeth got replaced by permanent teeth, my teeth became yellow. My dad's a doctor and he tells me not to whiten my teeth cause it removes the protective layer on your teeth.
