Today, my friend sent me an instant message, telling me how excited she was that she was accepted to a FIT Summer Program. I told her I was so proud, and that she can finally lose that excess weight. She told me that she meant Fashion Institute of Technology. FML

say you were joking

#2 - On 03/07/2009 at 5:48pm by hollajolla

You mean Florida Institute of Technology?

#3 - On 03/07/2009 at 5:53pm by kevind23

Damn dog 1 just owned whoever posted that.

#4 - On 03/07/2009 at 5:55pm by maconmann

Your friend brought it upon herself if she said "fit" instead of spelling out F.I.T. Still, you should have asked for clarification on what she meant before saying what you did.

#5 - On 03/07/2009 at 5:56pm by greatnt249

what, #3?

#6 - On 03/07/2009 at 5:59pm by ihaveaheadache

That's a very unfortunate slip xP
If she just said the word "fit", it's not your fault, but but if she did indeed spell out F.I.T., you're screwed.

And #3, it really is called "The Fashion Institute of Technology" lol.

#7 - On 03/07/2009 at 6:07pm by PureGold

Who in the world doesn't know what FIT stands for?

It's one of the most famous design schools.

#8 - On 03/07/2009 at 6:48pm by liveitlearnit

ooohh... did you know that she was applying for FIT?
#7, if she said FIT without the periods, some acronyms w/out periods, so it could have been fit or F.I.T.
besides, if she said it in an instant message then she wouldn't say "F-I-T", she's just put FIT which could be either way

#9 - On 03/07/2009 at 6:49pm by cra_z_turtle

#8 - Sorry that not everyone pays attention to design schools. I never heard of it before, and besides, FIT is a word, so it's easy to mistake it for not being an acronym.

#10 - On 03/07/2009 at 6:53pm by alex_vik

using acronyms that spell something in text messaging............ brought it on your self..... fail

#11 - On 03/07/2009 at 7:44pm by jake

#6: It exists; look it up.

#13 - On 03/07/2009 at 8:34pm by redredred

#12 you strike me as a dickhead, are you a dick head? "Fat people need to simply.... STOP being fat!" do you tell a drug addict he simply needs to stop being a addict? or a person with OCD he simply needs to stop acting like he has OCD? do the world a favor and don't have kids. or if you do, let your spouse rise them your voice is like the anti-logic shut the fuck up

#14 - On 03/07/2009 at 8:39pm by jake

#12/#15 i have to say i agree with #12 u do sound like an A-hole do everyone a favor and get over urself

#16 - On 03/07/2009 at 8:59pm by PCWolf

Hahah she set herself up for that one! It's not your fault.

#17 - On 03/07/2009 at 9:00pm by mzmaverickd

And 12? Wow. Why are YOU on the computer? You need therapy.

#18 - On 03/07/2009 at 9:03pm by mzmaverickd

#15 i'm not fat, i am actually 4 pounds underweight for my hight, and i'm not saying that addiction is the same as fat, i'm just saying that you don't just say don't be fat.i eat what i want, and spend most my day sitting school or at a desk doing homework. because i desided it would be fun to take a placment test at a community collage for fun, turns out i should actually be going there instead of being a freshmen. thus i have little time for exersise than i should it's not about eating less or differently it's about finding how fast your metabolism is. so don't put a list like that down saying it will work for everyone who reads it

#19 - On 03/07/2009 at 9:10pm by jake

#12.
I LOVE YOU!
that was great.
:D

#20 - On 03/07/2009 at 9:35pm by hotpeppers

Oh my.. the truth sometimes can hurts...

#21 - On 03/07/2009 at 9:37pm by PsyPako

OMG this is soo funny. and seriously i would definatly make that mistake its not your fault. especially nothing to "judge" someone by.

#22 - On 03/07/2009 at 9:56pm by e_wal329

I don't recall fitness programs needing to accept you to be in them. It's not like the read resumes on some obese people and see which ones they like best.
I would have to say this is a failure on your part.

#23 - On 03/07/2009 at 10:43pm by ThorstonJunker

Guys, theres so many acronyms being thrown around in the world, how the hell is one supposed to know what something means? Give the guy a break.

His friend was too lazy to expend a calorie or two to type out the whole name of the school. It was her fault for assuming that #1 stood for a school.

#24 - On 03/08/2009 at 1:53am by atyahoodotcom

honest mistake. you obviously didn't mean it in a cruel way if you said you were proud of her. and by the way, just because you're her friend doesn't mean you can't tell her she needs to drop a few. in fact, if she does need to lose weight, it's best that she hears it respectfully from her friend than cruelly from a stranger.

#25 - On 03/08/2009 at 3:19am by yokiedinosaur

#12. I agree that there is nothing more annoying that someone who is fat and just bitches all day about how fat they are without trying to do anything about it. THAT is annoying. But if someone is overweight and they are comfortable with their body, there is nothing wrong with that. So get over yourself. You're no better than anyone else. And about your comment that eating isn't an addiction, actually. It can be. It's called an eating disorder. Most people associate eating disorders with not eating enough, but if you eat too much that it becomes obsessive or an addiction, it IS an eating disorder. Also some OCD sufferers can be obsessed with eating. Maybe YOU should get off the computer and go read a book or something.

To the sender, this was an honest mistake. You shouldn't feel bad about it.

#26 - On 03/08/2009 at 3:40am by kandy

in NJ? if so ill be across the street at Stevens.. holla at me :D

#27 - On 03/08/2009 at 11:40am by justshootmenow

OP-I lolled.

#28 - On 03/08/2009 at 12:00pm by ilysespieces

thats hilarious, i almost said somethign like that when my g/f told me she wanted to go there. i thought it through though haha. oh and dont listen to #12, hes a total dick (and i bet hes fat) or she i dont even know.

#29 - On 03/08/2009 at 1:21pm by soccer15

edit last post: i meant # 14 not #12

#30 - On 03/08/2009 at 1:24pm by soccer15

i guess your life is bad, compared to the person who's being told she need to lose weight by her friend.

"I'm not so institutionalized into college (which is statistically a waste of money btw)" -- #12

Aha! Now I get it! A number of fat people worked harder than you in high school and got into college, and now you're a nobody with a crap job and a rotten personality that's obviously wrought with cruelty.
Your bitterness and ignorance make perfect sense now! =D

Sucks for you!!

#32 - On 03/08/2009 at 2:49pm by flyawayphoenix

Oh. I didn't mean #12. I mean #14. My bad.

#33 - On 03/08/2009 at 2:54pm by kandy

Whoa, didn't need your life story there, buddy.

And good for you, you're a prime example of nepotism (look it up), and you have proven that your work ethic (other than obsessing at the gym, no doubt) is superior to no one's. Hope you and daddy are proud!

Also, you have offered no research to support your claims.

Please get a life wrestler, and don't waste your time typing an essay to people who don't care.

~~~~~~~~~~
You are a child, and I pity you for the fact that you have learned to hate a group of people based solely on the superficial. How terrible. Please, DO join your dad's business, stay in one town, and acheive little in your life. The world needs less people like you. God forbid the hate you have manifested spread. I am ashamed that someone with a mindset like yours is endeavoring to represent the United States of America.
#35 - On 03/08/2009 at 5:12pm by flyawayphoenix
Wrestler, you are ridiculously close minded and rude. You are completely against a group of people for superficial reasons like, "they're lazy" "they're ugly" "they're unintelligent"
Go join your fathers business and then when you get sued for discrimination, maybe you'll have wished you'd gone to college.
Also, I find your statistics hard to believe on account of the fact you provided no proof. I also looked for these statistics and couldn't find them anywhere.
And even if they are true. Statistics mean nothing to the individual person. There are more reasons behind obesity than being lazy. There is also genetics and environmental factors.
But if you're into statistics and such, let me give you this nifty website. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/4380.php
By trying to convince us how great you are by giving presumably false statistics and talking about how rich your daddy is you've proven nothing except you have an unhealthy amount of arrogance and self worth. GET OVER YOURSELF.
#36 - On 03/08/2009 at 7:32pm by kandy
#35 and #36-- You guys are my heroes!! =]
"I have 6% bodyfat, and I'm not skinny either. Im pretty ripped. Oh, and I run a mile in 5:20, sprint a 4'7 40m, can do 23 pull-ups, squat 255, bench 185, do 400 sit-ups IN A ROW, 105 pushups in a row............
and I only weigh 147, im 5'8"
Ew!!!! Who says that? My goodness, I have never heard of ANYONE more arrogant and narcissistic! I can't believe that people like you even exist, it's downright disgusting! Good thing you're getting a job thanks to nepotism or you'd be forced to develop a personality (rather that simply spitting out physical attributes that you use to makes you think that you're in some way superior).
#38, I also think it is weird that you would freak out over being called fat (what's the big deal?) by people who have never even met you-- and yet, you don't seem to mind that you are making yourself out to be narcissistic, cruel, ignorant, and yes, even lazy (do you ever leave the computer?) through your posts.
If nothing else, please never ever reference the Lord in your hate speech.
That is all. I hope to never suffer the misfortune of having to meet someone like yourself, wrestler.
Have a nice day : )
#39 - On 03/08/2009 at 9:56pm by Sundown
Hahah. You don't hate fat people? Is it just me or did you say they were lazy, ugly, and unintelligent?
You also claimed that fat people need to stop being fat. I got news for you, big guy. It's not that simple. Diets don't work. And if being overweight is in your genes, it will be almost impossible to get rid of the weight. Stop acting like obesity is so black and white. Losing weight doesn't come as easily to others as it does to you. So please, please. Get over yourself. You're just making yourself look arrogant and idiotic the more you point out how great you are.
If you talk about overweight people to your coworkers or friends the way you do online, then yes. You WILL get sued for discrimination if you don't watch your mouth and be careful who you talk to about it. Hispanics have nothing to do with it. We're talking about weight, not race.
And actually yes, you talking about how many push ups you can do and how thin you are and how rich your dad is IS conceited. No one gives a damn. It's irrelevant.
#40 - On 03/08/2009 at 10:10pm by kandy
my cousin did a summer at FIT she loved it. it's in NY.
sorry lol random
#41 - On 03/08/2009 at 10:19pm by dg72592
Hah. You haven't proven anyone wrong. You've shown your arrogance and hypocrisy. But that's it.
You're telling me to not accuse someone of something they aren't. But you accused sundown of being fat. How do you know that person is fat? Hahaha. Idiot.
I'm making arguments based on facts and I'm going off of things you have said. You are making arguments by bringing up irrelevant topics such as how many girls you can get and how funny you are.
But honestly, we have no idea how attractive and funny you are because in order to boost your self confidence you have to talk about how great you are on the internet. When someone does that, it's usually a dead giveaway that they have some self-esteem issues. But who knows. I wouldn't judge someone I don't know.
And I know, I know. You'll tell me I was judging you. But don't waste your time. I started judging you when you started judging overweight people and pointing out how awesome you think you are. I accused you of being self-centered and arrogant. Which isn't far off from the truth because you can't seem to stop talking about yourself.
Finally, you said it yourself. Exercise can take hours. Hours that most adults don't have.
#43 - On 03/08/2009 at 10:55pm by kandy
How can you get mad at people for calling you fat-- and then do the same thing to others?!! Your hypocrisy and ignorance is unrivaled! Thank you for calling him out, .
#44 - On 03/08/2009 at 11:13pm by Sundown
Uhm. No. I gave you the URL to a site to discredit your claim that all obese people are lazy. I pointed out that not all obese people are simply lazy, there are also genes and environmental factors involved, also some with binge eating disorder.
You on the other hand, accused a user of being fat after telling me not to accuse someone of something they aren't. You knew I was right, so now you're trying to play it off as if I'm the one personally attacking you. But honestly, the attacks started when you personally attacked obese people by calling them lazy, ugly, and unintelligent. If you can dish it out you need to be able to take it.
No one cares that you're leaving. Honestly, that's probably what the people here would prefer. So have a nice life. You're not gonna have that hot body forever. Think about that the next time you're admiring yourself in the mirror.
#46 - On 03/08/2009 at 11:45pm by kandy
If she put it in caps, then that's 100% your bad. Otherwise, you should have asked for clarification first, anyway. Whoever heard of fucking fit camp?
#47 - On 03/09/2009 at 12:03am by texmas
I know that everyone is getting confused at the F.I.T. thing. Being a student at the fashion institute of technology here in Manhattan. And knowing how the school operates. . .
FIT just stands for F**K it.
#48 - On 03/09/2009 at 12:10am by shoootingstaarr
Yes, the poster is not in any way at fault-- it was a mistake anyone could make.
However, I must point out that YOU attacked a specific sect of human beings, WE defended them. Do not make this out to be something it is not. You do sports and you work out. This is admirable, yes, but most people will look at that and think, "So?" This does not make you an extraordinary person in any way, shape, or form. Try to excercise yourself in other ways, perhaps intellectually: propose and publish a research article, work to be accepted into a number of academic honor societies, meet interesting people, read some good books (I think you'd like the greek tragedians like Aeschylus and Euripedes =D ), think for yourself, study abroad, and most importantly, learn to love your fellow human being regardless of one's percentage of body fat. I am sincerely impressed that you are endeavoring to join the armed forces. If you choose to do so, you will experience much of human nature in times of war, and I know you will learn from it. But, please, do not limit yourself to that! Thoreau said that, "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation." Do not allow yourself to be resigned to that! There is more to life than the amount of sit-ups you can do. In time, you will see this.
As you are religious, I am sure you have heard a great deal about the term "curas personalis." In case you are unfamiliar with it,it is a Latin phrase that can be literally translated as "Care of the Entire Person" which refers to the development of one's intellect, soul, and spirit, as well as the body. You must learn to impress people with your acumen, your personality, your regard for others, your love, your generosity, your wit, your ENTIRE self-- only then will you find the true meaning of the word healthy.
I'm sorry this turned into an argument-- it was not my intention to promote anger. However, I implore you to listen to the advice that the people in these comments have offered to you. You seem cold, angry, and bitter towards those whom you are convinced are lazy and are undeserving of your repect. You cannot think this way. It will only lead to hate-- and hate will get you nowhere, I assure you
Your body is in good shape. I am happy for you, I truly am. However, now is the time to start working on the rest of yourself.
#49 - On 03/09/2009 at 12:16am by Sundown
Thats funny....The girls at F.I.T. are usually hot, atleast the ones I've gone out with.
Idiot even if she said she was going to fat camp it wouldn't be okay to say she was fat
#53 - On 06/13/2009 at 3:03pm by rainbowsix
That sucks.
It seems a bit like a FHL though.
I know OP didn't mean anything by it, but in any case it's best to refer to it as "getting in better shape" rather than "losing that extra weight"
