AHHH WHAT A JERK!! i hate cops lol FYL
#1 - On 05/22/2009 at 7:04am by AlexV
Wow WTF I hate the police ~ them pigs think they can do anything
Everyone says they hate "Pigs"..some cops may be dicks, but you forget what shit they go through all day. People trying to get out of speeding by their looks or trying to guilt trip them or by playing stupid..what if he just returned from a bad situation at an accident or house? You dont know, your driving your car while he puts hit life on the line for you. Dick or not, he doesnt have to do what he does all day so you can just bitch that you dont "deserve" a ticket.
#5 - WTF! You're right!
Has this ever happened before?!
That's so rude!
#4- I agree with you to some extent. Yeah it is really good that police put their lives on the line for our safety and they do have to deal with alot, but it's their responsibility to enforce the law in a fair and just matter and that was neither fair nor just. Some policeman are just arses.. just like in any occupation. Even if that particular policeman had just come from a bad situation, it doesn't make it okay for him to take that out on someone else.
Too close to the end of the month and they start getting titchy about meeting quotas...
#10 - On 05/22/2009 at 7:21am by ZuRG
I moderated this one... I was gonna say "no" coz it didn't say Today but I accidentally clicked yes. gosh!
This comment has been moderated.
YDI if you truly have a loud exhaust or if it was just loud at that point because it was revving he was just being a dick.
@4
Thats the kind of mentality that gives the Police more power, more power that they shouldn't have. If people actually researched laws they would find that police officers alot of the time are able to get away with alot more than they should because people don't know or are too cowardly to enforce their rights and many officers go to the point of actually breaking the law and if you don't know any better they will walk all over you.
A bad day is no excuse of any kind life threatened or not to just be complacent with law enforcement. Would you accept bad customer service from a employee working the CS desk just because they have to deal with horrible customers all day?
People who hate cops usually just say that because they've been caught doing something wrong. There's nothing wrong with cops.
I just realized this was one giant run on sentence.
How did this get through?
And I really, in all honestly, can't see a cop doing this.
exactly #14. and btw, i have a friend whos a cop and they dont have quotas. its a stupid myth. they can write as many as they want, no quota to be met.
What on earth is a "loud exhaust"? You farted or burped or sighed or your car's engine made a loud roar or what? Enlighten plz!
what a gronk, helps you to fine you.
I just wanted to comment that, yes this situation sucks, but in all honesty it probably wont hold in court. If you explain the situation and what happened the Judge will be like "wtf?" and throw it out. You're all good.
#4 Cops have to do what they do all day, that is part of their responsilbilities/ job requirements.
OP: Put your gas to the floor? Don't you mean floor the gas?
this isnt a good fmylife
horrible grammer
#22 - On 05/22/2009 at 7:45am by lolwhat
@22
So says the person with no punctuation, capitalization or knowing how to spell 'grammar'?
This was written so badly.
#24 - On 05/22/2009 at 7:47am by mintfreshpinesol
hahaha that sucks BIG time.
but, u got owned xD
This is horrible FML, with poor grammar, and therefore making it a run on sentence as well. It doesn't even say today..
#14: I won't claim to hate cops, but I tend to dislike them. I'm a person who doesn't get in trouble with the cops, but I've seen too much shit go down with them to like them. The cops several times refused to arrest my neighbors who were using illegal drugs and drinking underage because they were friends. I've seen several local cops buying drugs and doing drugs, never turning in the drug dealers. I've also seen cops put on their lights just so that they can drive around people and such and then turn them off.
I can respect that cops put their lives on the line at times and work to make our world better. However, I cannot respect power trips and all that they try to pull that's illegal and immoral. I respect firefighters to no end, they put their lives on the line and all the ones I know don't have issues with respecting other people or power trips that involve yelling at others or going out of line.
LOL what a dick!
hm well i guess that's what cops do best =)
I hate unnecessarily loud exhausts. It's your own damn fault for installing a stupid exhaust.
Can a car battery die WHILE driving? I never heard of that. I had to have my old car jump-started a few years ago, and the AAA assistant told me to drive at least 30 minutes before I stopped the engine again, so that the battery could charge itself.
Also, you deserve the ticket if you do have a loud exhaust. Pay it and stop complaining about cops doing a job that sometimes really, really sucks.
Who cares about the whole "cops are just doing their job" debate. YDI because you're probably one of those idiots who modifies their muffler and makes their car ridiculously loud. It's annoying as hell, and I'm happy people are getting ticketed for it.
My father’s a cap and I’m in Police foundations and I can honestly say that anyone that believes there is a quota is an idiot further more I really hope all you people that hates cops has your house broken in to or something worse and if you then call the cops you are a hypocritical a$$ hole!!
though i have admittedly met nice cops that actually understand what they're supposed to be here for and follow it, 90% of police officers are power-hungry pricks that probably have tiny penises and think they can do anything, and i mean ANYTHING just because they have a fucking badge. you can never really understand how dick pigs can be until you interact with them. and i'm willing to bet that anyone defending cops over here has never been arrested.
and i'm pretty sure a battery can't die while driving, the engine recharges it.
#35 - On 05/22/2009 at 8:46am by weefoo
35 : childish. I've been arrested for speeding and incomplete stops, and a more zealous one arrested me for driving accross the white line to change lines at an intersection. I still defend them -- I got tickets because I was doing something WRONG.
Clearly false. Batteries don't die while driving, a cop wouldn't give you a ticket for loud exhaust if he was right there.
#37 i've had my car torn apart for wearing a shirt with a pot leaf on it, i've been searched and two of my friends were arrested for driving while a young adult, i've been put in handcuffs for refusing to give a police officer my id while casually sitting on a park bench, and i've been arrested for being involved in a perfectly peaceful and legal sit in.
and you can't get arrested for speeding, or any of those things. those are minor traffic violations, so you're evidently fucking retarded.
#13 is right.
#39 - On 05/22/2009 at 8:53am by weefoo
I voted YDI purely because of how terribly run-on the entire FML is.
The way it's described just makes it seem false, anyway. How the heck did this get through?!
#40 - On 05/22/2009 at 8:55am by wott
seriously?!? FYL if true man
You have the worst grammar I've ever seen.
WOW. Talk about a run on sentence.
#43 - On 05/22/2009 at 9:08am by rothenb
how did this become an FML? It doesn't say "Today,"
For those that say your battery can't die while driving. There is a little piece of technology called an alternator that charges your battery and if it is about to give out on you your battery can die while running.
#35 as #46 mentioned, it is possible for a car to die while it's being driven. I think perhaps you shouldn't use the rule of never hearing of something as a way to know if it is possible or not.
I can't believe they let this one through without a "today."
it doesnt start with "today" and its one big confusing run on sentence
#13 is right.
on another note, can they really give you a ticket for a loud exhaust? That seems stupid, I bet he wouldn't give a ticket to a Harley motorcycle that drove by would he?
I don't know about cops everywhere, but I've a friend whose relative is a cop where I live and he explained to me that no, there's no quota, but if a cop gives out a number of tickets that deviates strongly from the average in his station in a month he gets grilled on it and has extra paperwork to deal with.
As far as the FML - is your exhaust always loud? Because that *is* dangerous, and just because he helped you get your car going doesn't mean that he has to ignore that fact.
Also - Yes, a car battery can die while driving, but that's indicative of another problem - corrosion on the battery or, as #46 said, an alternator that's going out or something.
um no, cops aren't allowed to jump you because of the mass amounts of electronic equipment in their cars, unless he had a portable one in his car, which many cops do not.
#28 it sounds like you just live in a shit neighborhood if even the cops are doing drugs. Join in on the fun and stop bitchin ;]
and with the whole "loud exhaust"; they can pull people over due to the safety hazard and noise pollution. why a cop wouldn't (and really couldn't) pull over any type of motorcycle is that the noise is from the engine not the exhaust, take the hood off a car and they'd be just as loud.
also as #52 said about the quotas, its more that they need to keep track of if they go way under or way over.
also #34 is a dumbass... doesn't know how to spell "cop" and hates all of us who don't enjoy the power-trips that the majority of cops have. also the police foundations and the people that work there aren't all cops... (just calling him out on that)
I'm sure they ticket is cheaoer than having some tow truck coming out and jumping your car
Plus noise violations are no big deal i get them all time for my system.. It comes with having aftermarket parts on your car.
#38, im a mechanic and yes a battery can die while driving... but it also means the alternator is bad hence the battery not charging...
OP, loud exhausts rule btw.
I'm guessing it wasn't the battery that died, but rather the alternator.
haha that sucks, some cops are real assholes but you gotta think they have a job to do.
#56 If the noise from a motorcycle is from the engine why can you get mufflers that make it about as quiet as car?
How is having a loud muffler a safety hazard anyway? That makes no sense. Pollution i get, but hazard? Do people forget to use their steering wheel within the vicinity of a loud car or something? wtf?
Loud's Loud. I hope that was because there was a problem with your exhaust, not because you bought an aftermarket fart can exhaust.
If you've never had an exhaust pipe break in front of the muffler, it's loud enough to cause headaches, if you have the right car :)
This one would totally happen to me. I have a '69 Mustang with no muffler right now. It has a 302 engine and has recently started dying at random times...I feel for ya.
#64 - On 05/22/2009 at 11:09am by johndorian06
in everyone's own mind, they are great drivers and would never deserve a ticket. instantly, it's the cop who is the d!ck because he pointed out that you broke a law but he just doesn't know that you really are a good driver and he should be looking for someone else.
it's karma, i'm sure you've deserved a ticket once and gotten away with it because a cop wasn't around then.
you knew the risk when you put that exhaust on and it caught up to you. it's the price of having a loud car. swap to stock exhaust, get the ticket settled, put the exhaust back on.
if it was a personal attack on the cops end, he wouldn't have jumped your car for you.
If that were me. I would so like to punch that cop in theface. WHAT A DOUCHE N O Z Z L E
#65 it's not the fact that he gave him/her the ticket. It's the fact that he jumped his car let him go and THEN pulled him over 5seconds later to give him a ticket lol. I'm pretty sure after they got the car started he would have noticed his/her exhaust was a weeee bit to loud :P
i don't think this is real
#5, #6, and others...It says "today". Maybe you should read.
Alright, allow me to clarify a few things:
1. I don't know if it's different in your area, but from where I'm from (the Northeast of the US) cops are legally NOT ALLOWED to jump anyone's car. I know this because I asked a cop at a gas station to jump me, and he informed me of this law. Which leads me to...
2. Yes if your alternator goes, the battery dies while driving and you're really screwed. That's what happened to me.
3. Everyone's assuming the OP has an aftermarket exhaust installed, and therefore this is the OPs own fault and that they are an idiot for having an exhaust like that. For all we know, the OP has a bad exhaust. Mine cracked in half once and it sounded JUST as loud as an aftermarket...but it was just the stock exhaust.
So maybe it wasn't the OPs fault for having a bad exhaust...and maybe cops in that area ARE allowed to jump people (strange though...), at which point I would say that's a terrible situation. But let's at least get the facts right before posting please...

I agree with #4. I mean, of course there are going to be a few corrupt cops and some cops who are just plain jerks. But for the most part, cops ARE here to keep everyone safe and if you weren't doing something illegal in the first place, you wouldn't have to worry about them.
YDI for not having a muffler
#69
1. Cops are allowed to jump in my state of FL.
3. Even if his muffler was broken, it is his responsibility to properly maintain his car, if it's too loud, it's too loud.
And for everyone else.
1. Cops don't have ticket quotas.
2. OP was going to get pulled over eventually anyway.
3. To people saying he was nice enough to jump him, then give him a ticket, you can't hear a car's muffler before you jump it.
YDI for having a shitty car and spending money on a shitty fart can instead of on a tune-up for your car.
#39: Give me a break, I doubt any cop on a power trip or abusing his rights would tear apart a car because of the shirt the driver is wearing. And if they did, you could sue them for that. I don't know where you live, but basically they can't search your car unless if they see something inside the car (such as a gun, drugs...) OR if you give them permission to do so. I bet you did not know you could say "no" to a search so when the cop asked you if he could search your car you said "yes" because you were afraid you would look like you have something to hide if you refused. Well that's your own fault for not knowing the law.
Second, again I don't know where you live but in most places you are not supposed to refuse giving your ID to an officer. They can't search you, but if they want ID you give them ID.
As for your perfectly legal sit in, I wish I had some details about it. So far you sound like you're the kind of person to make mistakes but who keeps thinking he's innocent. I would like to know why the cops who arrested you that time did it. Maybe most people there were smoking pot, and in that kind of circumstances everyone gets arrested until the police can sort out who smoked and who didn't. If that was the case, you should had been smarter and left when you saw that some people were doing something illegal.
Then again, maybe that one time was a mistake on the part of the police. I'm not saying it doesn't happen.

Where I live a cop CAN'T touch your car to jump start it, he can't use his car as the other car or even hook up the cables between two cars. It has to do with liability, if anything at all goes wrong they are responsible, so they can't do it.
#73 you can however hear a muffler after the car has been jumped.
Also, for all of the (probably) idiot ricers bitching about how retarded it is that he got a ticket for his exhaust.... YOUR CARS SOUND LIKE SHIT. I wasn't aware that making your craptastic 4 banger sound like a blender on coke was hot shit. Technically, in Washington state, it's illegal to do any aftermarket modification to your car. Most cops will let it slide, but if you're being a dick to the guy who pulled you over, he'll nail you for every law in the book. No mudflaps? Ticket. No state approved trash bag in your car? Ticket. Don't fuck with the person who is simply trying to do his job cause hell, I'd do the same thing too.
Normally I don't comment on grammar, but this one was so bad I had to read it four times just to understand what you were trying to say. For the love of God, read a first grader's textbook and learn how to use a period, at least.
#79 - On 05/22/2009 at 12:41pm by jmarie
had to fill his ticket quota, I guess
That's almost as bullshit as my buddy being pulled over in his slammed '78 Bug for "car too low to the ground."
wow. at least he helped you i guess. one time my mom and i went to the doctor's when i was sick and it was right next door to a police station. my mom's car died and when we went to ask the police if they would jump our car off, they said they weren't 'supposed to do that sort of thing.' ...i didn't know helping people was what they weren't supposed to do.
You people bitching about cops are ignorant. They aren't pigs, they're cops, and most of them put their lives on the line every day. Just leave them alone, it is their job to write people up for breaking the laws. Laws are there to keep people safe. They don't have quotas. There is no such thing; those aren't even legal.
And don't generalize how all cops are based on experiences with individual ones, or things you see on tv, or whatever. Cops are humans just like everyone else, which means they are entitled to make the same mistakes the rest of us make once in a while.
I've been pulled over at least six times in my four years of driving, and I deserved every one of them. But you don't hear me complaining... so shut the hell up. Don't break the law, and you won't get pulled over. It really is as simple as that.
LOL now this is a FML right here haha that sux
Haha, that's hella funny! My car has a loud exhaust too because my boyfriend wants to "rice it out" SUX! Hopefully nothing like that happens to you again :)
"Life on the line everyday"...? How many people are going to repeat this? It's bullshit...the vast majority fill their traffic quota and slack off. I can't tell you how many times I've called the cops when I genuinely needed them (been chased by crips in my jeep, burglers breaking into my house, my jeep robbed twice) and they either took their sweet fucking time or decided that it was inconvenient. They sure don't have a problem pulling decent people over to hand them a ticket though. Face it, we have a corrupt policing system.
I've never heard that having a"loud exhaust" is illegal. Where I live there are racing cars everywhere and cops dnt give a sht..
I think that its the dumbest thing I've ever heard for a cop to give a ticket for that..
But ok.
#88 - On 05/22/2009 at 2:51pm by lilcuti3pi389
#86, I guess you don't live your life a quarter mile at a time. :p
And I agree with #28
#90 - On 05/22/2009 at 2:55pm by lilcuti3pi389
Batteries can die while driving if there's a problem with the alternator, or the connection to the alternator.
I know in Florida cops don't have ticket quotas but they DO have "piece" quotas. That means they don't have to hand out a certain number of tickets, but they have to issue a minimum number of written warnings and citations. It's a way to make sure the cop is working. If you're a traffic cop and you didn't hand out a ticket or warning all day, then what were you doing?
#91 - On 05/22/2009 at 3:04pm by joel2k
What an asshole. Seriously.
#94 - Thank you.
#68 - You'd think more then three people would make the same mistake? Obviously, it was edited.
#4, stop creating excuses for the douchiness of cops. If they're so damned miserable maybe they should quit instead of acting like asses. That said, OPer needs to challenge this ticket. That cop was out of line.
Fight it. Your car clearly died, and IF it was more than a 3 second noise problem, you should get a WARNING and not a ticket. I promise that unless you're lying, you'll win.
For the people saying there aren't quotas: there are "unofficial" quotas in most towns around where I live. They get in trouble even though they shouldn't legally get in trouble if they don't meet the quota.
wat a dick. My bf got pulled over cuz he had tinted windows, the cop then cited him for about 3 other things that he shouldnt have been cited for. Cops are just dicks.
WHAT A FKING DOUCHE BAG I WOULD BE LIKE DUDE FK OFF THEN SOCK HIM IN THE NUTS
The question is did you have a loud exhaust, or was it just loud because you had your foot to the floor getting it started? If you do, then that's just unfortunate. If not, fight it.
You should report him. What he did isn't right at all.
Many cops power trip. It comes with the job I'm guessing.
i highly doubt a cop would do that right after helping you with a broken down car
what a douschee

That is sooooo lame. >:[
#106 - On 05/22/2009 at 5:06pm by whymez
there is nothing more annoying then a loud car! it is NOT sexy! YDI
there is nothing more annoying then a loud car! it is NOT sexy! YDI
To the cop defenders, that's why we say we hate "pigs" and not "cops". There is a difference.
#5 #7 and others, thats weird cause this is what my screen says Today, my car died on a major road, a cop pulled over to help, he offered to jump me, while doing so because my battery was so dead he told me to put the gas on the floor, I did and my car roared to life, he then pulled me over five feet from where my car died to give me a ticket for a loud exhaust. FML
I'm not going to comment on the extent of this FML. I am going to request you learn some grammar, because the lack of it drove me crazy.
FUCK THE POLICE! god they have such god complexes. they think they're so damn powerful because they can arrest you. FUCK THEM! and if you're wondering, no i'm not a fuck-up teenager. i just think the police are ridiculous.
um, to #4.
you bitch about people "playing dumb" to get out of speeding tickets, but sometimes it actually works. so yeah, people are gonna do all they can to get out of their 200something dollar tickets that usually result from a bored cop. as for them "putting their lives on the line," how come there are more cops on the road with their radar guns out than there are cops looking for drug dealers and child molestors? my friend's sister got abducted the other day, and the second it was reported that they found her the cops dropped the case completely. yeah, they're a big help- if they can make money off of you.
#19- With court costs it may just be cheaper to pay the ticket.
OP: That sucks, unless you normally DO have a loud exhaust, he had no right to give you a ticket for doing what he told you to.
#118 - On 05/22/2009 at 7:37pm by love15
YDI. Go back to school and learn how to properly form sentences.
The fact is that a lot of people become cops because they genuinely want to make a positive contribution to society. And some people become cops because they are naturally just assholes who want to to abuse their power over others. Unfortunately, you don't get to choose which kind of cop shows up.
The best course of action: just avoid all cops as much as possible and you won't have to worry about dealing with an asshole cop.
#13, your completely wrong, and #4 is completely right. I'm pretty sure that without cops we would have no one to enforce the law.. honestly cops are just grumpy because everyone hates them.... they only hate them because they stop them from doing things they shouldn't. Most cops, if your nice to them will be nice back. Some aren't... but you get those kinds of people in every profession. Grow up. Respect them.
FUCK THE COPS DUDE. FYL INDEED
well that's just unfair :(
Yeah #99, then you can make an FML about it 5 months later after you get out of jail about how you assaulted a cop and spent half a year being someones bitch in prison.
E-thuggery, it knows no bounds.
I'm actually glad this happened.
The cop was fair. What if you think you were on the way to rob a bank and your car breaks down and he helps you then later stops you from robbing the bank, would it be unfair then?
Even though in this particular situation I agree with the op. Him flooring it is probably what made the loud noise so he shouldn't have been pooled over for it.
If not, YDI.
#127 - On 05/23/2009 at 1:22am by td2
I honestly had to read this one like seven times before I could follow it. Learn how to use a period once in a while.
#128 - On 05/23/2009 at 1:38am by _mcs_
This isn't about the "shit" cops go through, now, is it? Nope! It's about one FML. I think it's pretty bad that a cop gave you a ticket for pretty much doing what he told you to. Flooring it.
There is no ticket quota that cops HAVE to meet. There contract entitles them to a bonus paycheck if they issue 'x' amount of tickets.
LMFAO.....cops are bitches...iwould jst laugh at that situation in front of the cop
So you're one of those dicks with super loud annoying exhausts. YDI
Today, one thing happened, and then another thing, while the cop did some other things, and have you noticed I like run-on sentences, and don't ever use periods, yeah, I thought so, but I'm going to keep on going for a while, because who needs punctuation?
Geez, would a period somewhere in that paragraph kill you? :-p
That's what's called police not meeting their ticket quota. My dad once got a ticket for driving the speed limit in the rain because he "wasn't taking current conditions into account"
That is one long sentence.
And tough shit. If you had a loud exhaust any way, then YDI.. but if he just gave you a ticket because of what he told you to do, then yes, FYL. But otherwise, no.
Go pay your ticket ... and damn you, PERIODS. Use them! Commas are your friend, but so are periods! Grah.
Lmao i'm sorry for laughing, that had to of sucked...but honestly I lmao'd at that.
fucking cops... gotta love em
why are people saying this doesn't say 'Today' at the begining? it does
fuckin douchebag cops! its nice to see our tax money at work. FTP
I was going to graduate high school. But i decided to become a cop instead.
I don't understand why state highway troopers are almost always jerks and city cops are almost always nicer. Why did that happen?
ydi for not being able to form a coherent sentence.
state trooper? they're power tripping pigs...
wow Dr. Jackal and Mr, Hyde much.
Cops are huge dicks who will abuse their power if it works out for them. Most people who are police officers are arrogant cunts who are so absolutely positive that they're right morally, spiritually, whatever that it only plays into this fantasy world where they distribute very unequal, racist, biased judgement.
You for sure have a honda that sounds like a fart can... Cops hate those
That's a dick move. I'm sorry about that. :[
What a bastard. But really, I'm not surprised. Fucking cops are nuts with their ticketing. :|
this is the fucking fakest FML there is
a policeman, by policy of every department nationwide, cannot assist you in fixing you vehicl, as they become liable for any resulting damage from their assistance, making the department liable for a lawsuit. so, liar, way to get one past the moderators, but it is a cute little story. and yes, it really was necessary to call you out like this so you can write an FML tmrw that is actually true...maybe something along the lines of 'Today some guy with a pretty good general knowledge called out my bogus FML. my life is so sad that i can't even get a true FML posted on this site so i had to make up some bullshit story. FML.' so it can be ignored just like every other fucking sad pathetic loser who bitches about their fml's not making it because they so fucking sad and pathetic and their lives completely suck. so, in closing, stop lying to people just to be heard, and go fuck yourself with your exhaust which probably doesnt even fucking exist to begin with. in that case, go fuck yourself with your bike handle, and cry yourself to sleep tonight.

that was all on the fly too. I wonder if I expressed myself clearly enough though...who knows...?
If you had accepted his offer to jump you, maybe you would have avoided a ticket. : P I'm amazed no one pulled out the sex joke earlier....
Because it's a terrible joke.
