Today, I was going to propose to my girlfriend. I told her best friend the plan the day before. I got reservations to a restaurant on the beach, and we were going to arrive via boat. She never showed. Her parents called me asking why she randomly left town to go to Paris. FML

(+1)I wouldn't tell my best friend! Its the day before and if I knew she was happy, I'd keep the secret. But if I knew she wasn't happy, then I'd tell her, giving her time to skip the country. Haha, that was actually really harsh but still.

(0)Yeah, if I thought my best friend was about to get proposed to by somebody she really wanted to marry, I would never tell. If it was somebody who I thought she didn't want to marry, I'd be loaning her money for a plane ticket. It just wasn't meant to be. Perhaps you were moving too fast. Try to talk to her honestly, straighten things out, and slow down! There's a serious problem if she had no idea you were going to propose yet, and then she felt she had to fly across the planet.

If you would've proposed, she might've accepted just to please you, then eventually would cheat on you with your best friend, her boss, any random guy, because she was in a loveless marriage, and then file for divorce and leave you with the kids you forced on her. Now you are free!

Something like that usually isn't done on such a whim so I'm thinking she's been planning it for a while now and it seems pretty odd that she wouldn't tell anybody not you, not her parents of such a major trip. There has to be something in Paris I'm guessing another guy because flying to Paris to avoid a proposal seems really weird

But if you need me to break it down for you, I'm saying that: OP's girlfriend wanting to be proposed to in Paris is the only explanation I can think of using MY logical thinking, but girls don't always do things that make sense and are quite illogical, so the girlfriend could be bailing on OP like other people have said. I also added that I am a girl so I understand what I believe to be a logical explanation for the girlfriend's trip to Paris could not be the reason at all and she could have some very illogical reason.
Hope you understood that.

Ok, pretty sure he meant Paris, France, first of all. Second of all, the implication was that she went there to avoid the proposal. Maybe she makes or has a ton of money, and an impromptu vacation is easily achieved by her. So rather than reject him, she figures he would get the point and it would save them the embarrassment if she just leaves for a little while.

(0)Okay it is possible she went for another reason, so I'd find out for sure before jumping to any conclusions. Yes it's not likely she would just go spontaneously without telling you if it didn't involve you, but I'd still make sure. If you are right and she was just running away, then take this as a blessing in disguise. While it's hard to face, this shows clearly that she wasn't good enough for you anyway. Anyone who would just run away when they think they are getting proposed to soon is just a selfish coward. Any decent person would just tell them face to face that they don't feel it's going to work out.
