Man or woman?

Today, my date sent me a text saying "I'm sorry we're running late, we will be there shortly." I replied asking what she meant by "we". She said her parents, who were coming along to chaperone. I laughed about two 27 year olds having chaperones, until she walked in with her parents. FML

Dude shouldn't you have said something? number 1 btw

#1 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:36pm by bullshitdetector

Yeah, in a way he deserves it for not even knowing enough about this girl to know they'd be chaperoned..

#38 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:11pm by dudeitsdanny

What? Who the hell would think to ask someone to make sure they weren't bringing their parents on a first date?

#43 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:22pm by molacolacake

Not necessarily. It could of been a first date in which they were trying to get to know each other. Looks like he learned a whole lot! FYL dude!

#49 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:10pm by grrrarrrg2

Fuck Your Life. Fuck Your Life. Fuck Your Life.

#51 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:14pm by jackkerouc9

FYL for needing to post 'first'.

#60 - On 11/12/2009 at 2:17am by Tribulations

his date clearly lied about her age or something. she's probably 14. If not, she's mentally retarded because there's no way a completely healthy person would want their parents taking them on a date to chaperone.

#74 - On 11/12/2009 at 8:26pm by Chantalasaurus

Overprotective parents much?

#2 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:38pm by xxphil

Seriously they are, thats so sad!

i dont understand this ????

#3 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:38pm by jesscar

OP has a date with a 27 year old girl who needs her parents to supervise/chaperone her on her date.

#42 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:09pm by Sun_Kissed18

fyl

#67 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:44pm by EmmaElaine

I don't understand this either... it's not funny it's just weird. ._.

#77 - On 11/13/2009 at 3:11am by This_Quiet_Storm

FYL indeed, OP. Although F it more if you don't see that this is a gigantic red flag and act accordingly. I doubt you'll be able to have a healthy, satisfying adult relationship if the parents are tagging along-- and if your date hasn't yet bothered to cut the umbilical cord.

#4 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:40pm by pope_suburban

thats awful. lol parents like that are gonna be there on your wedding night making sure you don't do anything "naughty" with their daughter

#5 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:43pm by PurplePoet

Who does that?!

What is wrong with that girls parents for thinking that's normal?!

#6 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:43pm by ZOMFD

whats wrong with the *girl* for thinking thats normal?

#9 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:46pm by PurplePoet

I'd be like, are they going to watch you give me head, too?

#7 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:44pm by JP101

That's messed up.

It should be no big deal for a first date. Most guys usually don't get hot sex on the first date anyways. (I said "most" guys ;) )

If the parents are still tagging along when you are due for a roll in the hay, you may want to move on.

#10 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:47pm by perdix

ummm ... if she's letting her parents chaperone a first date, what makes you think she's ever gonna think they are due for a roll in the hay?

#14 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:50pm by The_Seeker

Oh, I think the OP shouldn't be sure of anything with this girl. That's why he needs to have an exit strategy with this one.

#16 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:55pm by perdix

#10, judging from this "(I said "most" guys ;) )," I'm assuming that means you've never had sex in your life and you want to seem like a badass, right?

#23 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:28pm by HookEmTexas07

OK, you're right. Ssshhhh! Let's keep that between you and me, OK?

#24 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:36pm by perdix

#23 - hilarious!

#25 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:45pm by boardclips

Maybe they like to watch. Or maybe they arent really the parents and they are swingers that want to have a gangbang..

I hope you where an asshole on the date just to piss the parents off

#26 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:48pm by donkey_hang_down

I don't think the issue is "will this affect what I say/do on the date?" Yeah, I've had first dates that were PG-rated. I still expect the person to be at a normal psychological level for a late-20's adult. If someone brought their parents on our first date, I wouldn't be thinking "OMG this is really going to affect how I act tonight." I'd be thinking "OMG I'm going on a date with someone who IS VERY SERIOUSLY DEVELOPMENTALLY STUNTED."

So #10, I think you missed the point.

#39 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:19pm by nonynony

Bwaha, oh Saskatchewan. How I love it.

Sadly, a number of names popped into my head about who this could be, before realizing that they're not 27 yet.

#11 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:47pm by Envy

i don't know if i can believe that really happened lol damn!

#12 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:48pm by one2gun

you read my mind.

#19 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:15pm by wert

To me it seems disrespectful for her to ambush you like that. I mean either she wanted her parents to come which doesn't say much for her interest or trust in you, or she didn't want them to come but wasn't strong enough to say no. I mean obviously we don't know everything here, but that sounds like a nightmare later on if she does everything they say.

#15 - On 11/11/2009 at 5:54pm by Fling13

Yeah, and the whole "Sure I'd love to go out with you, oh by the way my parents will be chaperoning, hope that's okay" thing should definitely have been brought up sooner.

#54 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:26pm by Trebie

Damn... Its time for you to dip, OP... Unless its something serious and you want that. But sometimes its worth it to wait. Conservative girls with crazy protective parents give really mean head.

#17 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:02pm by i_got_it

i_got_it has got a point.

#47 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:43pm by mercyFML

Tell her to grow up! Haha, jk...

"When I was a kid, when I was a little boy, I always wanted to be a dinosaur, I wanted to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex more than anything in the world, I made my arms short and I roamed the back yard, I chased the neighborhood cats, I growled and I roared, everybody knew me and was afraid of me, and one day my dad said 'Bobby you are 17, it’s time to throw childish things aside' and I said 'OK Pop', but he didn't really say that he said that 'Stop being a fucking dinosaur and get a job'."

#18 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:02pm by BlowYaMind

More like tell the parents to let their daughter grow up.

#21 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:23pm by SenGaeriel

Thus... the jk.
:]

#22 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:24pm by BlowYaMind

Stepbrothers! hahahaha
and yeah,
A) those parents are constantly going to be judging you on everything you do and everything you say
B) dating a girl who has overprotective parents is never going to work because of reason A. you'll never be good enough by THEIR standards, and maybe that mindset will even rub off on the girl as well
conclusion: ditch the bitch. you'll be better off without her when your relationship is already doomed to fail

#20 - On 11/11/2009 at 6:18pm by hXcsoccerplaya

Overprotective parents make for some secret sin, perhaps developing priest fetishes and other nasty habits. Girls who become capable of committing great atrocities and acting out twisted scenarios.

#48 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:51pm by mercyFML

OP, I hope you didn't actually go out on the date after that.

#27 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:03pm by lostfaithinpppl

she's a keeper!

#28 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:12pm by pinky2

A keeper for her parents, that is.

#29 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:28pm by QJD

It may not be her fault. In some cultures they're a very firm believer in no sex before marriage, and will go to any extend to protect that. That being said, they should also be able to trust their daughter.

... and she should have informed the OP that this is how her family rolls so its not a shock at the last minute.

My dad is very no sex before marriage, when I was younger, like 16 and 17, we would force me to take my little sister along with me everywhere I went in the form of a chaperon lol. I was so annoyed that he didn't trust me. But I guess, it is a step better than having to have dad come along.

I'm 22 now, and I guess he thinks I'm mature enough to be trusted 'cause I haven't needed a chaperon in a while lol.

#30 - On 11/11/2009 at 7:35pm by unFmyLife

That's still kind of disrespectful, though. If someone is old enough to be dating, then they are old enough to be making their own choices about what dating means for them. Of course it's different when you're underage, but after that it's time to back off and have enough faith in your parenting skills that you trust your kids not to be stupid. By 27, something is pretty seriously wrong if both your parents are tagging along on dates, and if you're just springing it on people like it's totally normal.

#32 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:01pm by pope_suburban

that's okay, i've chaperoned my mom's dates before. not you know, eating with them, but i was in the restaurant.

#33 - On 11/11/2009 at 8:06pm by starvingxartist

Why would you have had to do that though? Its not as if you were protecting her virginity she already had you so its long gone.

#68 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:47pm by EmmaElaine

I bet she also won't kiss you until the wedding, and sob when she loses her virginity that night.
Move on dude, girl's a prude.

#37 - On 11/11/2009 at 9:05pm by JackkBeNimble

LOL Towelie.

#44 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:31pm by CallMeHush

I bet her parents were about 40 years old?

#45 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:34pm by Jernau_Gurgeh

holly fuck that's really sad.
I would embarass the girl AND the parents during the date so that they understand they're being a bunch of fucktards.

#46 - On 11/11/2009 at 10:39pm by Grillypower

Well at least you won't get accused of date rape. Or if they hate you, you will be convicted in 10 minutes.

#50 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:13pm by FarSide

NOT A BIG DEAL?!?! THEY'RE 27 NOT 7 YOU DUMB SHIT!

#52 - On 11/11/2009 at 11:14pm by grrrarrrg2

her parents want to make sure that you won't do someting illegal in your first date.

#55 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:12am by cein

right, because normally i like to do illegal things on first dates with people that ive never met before.

#57 - On 11/12/2009 at 1:07am by pinky2

At some point during the date, you should have asked the parents, "Hey, could you two leave for, say, 30-45 minutes depending on if this is one of my good days?" Remember, first impressions are important.

#56 - On 11/12/2009 at 12:53am by Ninjaface

ahaha I think this is fake...

#58 - On 11/12/2009 at 1:12am by Popthegloc

Everyone thinks every FML is fake. In fact, this site doesn't really exist at all.

#61 - On 11/12/2009 at 4:32am by o0ginger0o

What the hell!!!! On the one hand, I pity that girl. On the other, I wonder why she puts up with that!! I'm so sorry for your sake!

#59 - On 11/12/2009 at 1:27am by kellster

And then you left, right? Because you prefer dating other adults, right?

#62 - On 11/12/2009 at 5:53am by FoundManyLemons

a chaperon at 27 years old? that's is just sad. move on, dude.

lol, that reminds me of a guy I dated back in high school. he was apostolic. he came to my homecoming dance with me but he was prohibited from dancing by his religion (?). for some reason, he didn't tell me this til we were on the way to the dance. i spent the night grinding up on other guys. needless to say, it was awkward.

her parents being there might have something to do with religion. crazy but true.

#64 - On 11/12/2009 at 8:12am by KarelessKitten

FYL! Why did she bring her parents thats so embarrassing.

#65 - On 11/12/2009 at 11:00am by SilverStrs5

This might very well be the most boring FML I've ever read.

#66 - On 11/12/2009 at 11:20am by chalkdust

Why would she want her parents to be there in the first place? Isn't the whole point of a date for it to be just the two of you? That sucks.

#69 - On 11/12/2009 at 1:01pm by JakkieD

That is really sad. She should have a serious talk with her parents!

#70 - On 11/12/2009 at 1:12pm by kiwi0605

ok when u say until she walked in with her parents do u mean she was underage where did u meet this chic anyway u kno fyl for not knowing how to be sarcastic and confusing me

#71 - On 11/12/2009 at 2:02pm by aTRAGEDY

#72 - On 11/12/2009 at 2:46pm by snowgun10

#73 - On 11/12/2009 at 6:00pm by Meggxo

Haha this is awesome.

#75 - On 11/13/2009 at 12:56am by sincerelyautumn

whoa WTF?

#76 - On 11/13/2009 at 1:21am by Noah_h

Wow, that's pretty bad.
But I'm thinking..the other day my friend was telling me how in the Pentacostal (sp?) religion, they're so strict about sex and stuff, that anyone who is not married has to be chaperoned on date.
Maybe she is Pentacostal?

#78 - On 11/13/2009 at 7:34pm by madmaggot515

OP, you're an idiot, you clearly missed out on what could be your only chance for a mother-daughter 3 way while the dad videotaped the whole thing.

#79 - On 11/13/2009 at 8:08pm by wappit

so either she lied about her age or you did dum dum dummmm
Fuck Ur Life indeed

#80 - On 11/14/2009 at 10:11am by Brawler91

At least now you know enough not to date her again.

#81 - On 11/14/2009 at 1:32pm by zena_baladi

That's sad i'm 13 and don't have to be chaperoned
