Today, I almost got married. After the elaborate and very expensive wedding, my "husband" decided he did not want to sign the marriage license because he wasn't sure if he really wanted to settle down after all. FML

He might have saved you trouble in the future. If that's how he felt, but signed the liscense, you guys might have gotten divorced anyway a few years from now. And, hey, you guys can always make it official later if he does finally decide to commit.... if you're still together, that is. ;)

Now that you've got the bigassed wedding you always wanted out of the way, you can concentrate on finding somebody worth marrying.

What a complete asshole! Deny him the act of Woohoo for a year!

I like how people always say that the girl should withhold sex as a punishment, when that also means that they can't have sex. I suppose if he's crappy in bed it wouldn't be as hard but it still seems like a weird thing to use as punishment.

hahaha sims reference ftw. :D

Who needs a man when there are batteries?

Agreed with 42. Sex is a wee bit different for girls; unlike guys, we don't really need it. I mean, we do, but not nearly as badly, and are easily kept occupied with toys in the meantime.

Yeah, because using sex as a bargaining chip is really helpful and healthy in a relationship.

Well having sex when you hate each other isn't exactly helpful either. Sex often releases certain chemicals (in the brain) that enhance the feelings of trust, needing, bonding, "love," etc... so ******* someone repeatedly when you don't actually like them is going to make shit like divorce and getting dumped a lot harder to get over, and may be the cause some people stay in abusive relationships. Also, when you're pissed off at somebody, why have sex with them anyway? It's not always just a bargaining chip to get what you want. "You've really pissed me off in such a way that I am in no mood whatsoever." If my partner did that to me, what OP's did to her, I would be too pissed for sex too. @57: If he gets it elsewhere, then he loses her. Not that it seems OP's man is exactly the kind to care...

i've always wondered: what's with all the judgemental critiscism associated with men using 'fleshlights' (imitation vag) when vibrators or ****** are perfectly okay for women and aren't subjected to the same kind of 'ha, what a pathetic loser, can't get a real sexual partner' judgement? is the 'ha, what a pathetic loser, can't get a real sexual partner' treatment just something that men use against each other? or am i just looking too hard into this? Or not hard enough?

You're looking too hard, because nobody said anything at all like that. I meant that guys are usually the ones who more strongly desire the real thing. I actually knew a guy who once said "It's just not the same, I want a girl damn it!"

ur fiance is an epic winner. u shud marry him.............

either your dumb or deaf or cant spell cuz its falcoN punch

Or this particular person is missing the "N" key... Oooooorrrr maybe they accidentally didn't hit the key hard enough while attempting to type at a speed of 19288347 words per minute. Likely the latter.

@55: The other guy made a typo, which is understandable. You, on the other hand, used "your" when it should have been "you're", left out the apostrophes in "can't" and "it's", misspelled "because", didn't capitalize the first word of the sentence, and left out the full stop at the end of the sentence. Learn to type before trying to correct other people.

I don't even know what to say about this. it just sucks. I would have killed my husband if he had done that to me. good luck trying to explain what happened to your parents.

I'm calling Bull Crap on this. The only people who sign a marriage license are the minister and 2 witnesses. The only way it wouldn't be valid is if your witnesses didn't sign. Bull Crap

you definately sign something on the day that makes it legal. Whether thats a liscense or not I dont know

Actually you do have to sign something to make it legal.

You go your county court marriage license office before your wedding to obtain a license application. At that time, the bride to be and groom to be pay, and sign in front of a clerk. If you have your ceremony with a county judge at that time, the judge signs, and the license if filed with the court and a marriage certificate is processed. If you have a ceremony outside of the court, the religious or legal authority performing the ceremony signs and the license is filed with the court and a certificate is processed. Of course the bride and groom have to sign something! THEY are the ones entering the contractual agreement!

It depends on the state, I think. I and my best friend DID have to sign on the day our weddings in Iowa.

I guess those papers I *thought* I signed on my wedding day were just halucinations because I was taking crazy pills!

Being A Bridesmaid + maid of honour for several weddings, i can assure you , the bride and groom both have to sign something after the wedding, so i doubt it's 'bull crap' actually.

It depends on the state. We signed ours after the wedding. There's a picture of us doing it so the official could take it with him.

Yes, the husband and wife also need to sign the license.

This is true now. Her post is from 2009 when you actually signed on your wedding day. It changed sometime after that. I was confused when I recently got remarried and didn’t have to sign anything on our wedding day this time.

No you don't. I was married 2 months ago. I didn't sign anything the day of and my marriage was and is legal.
