Your aunt is a bitch.
#1 - On 07/31/2009 at 10:01am by MaramaBreaksFace
The sister's stuff is usually better.
why the hell would you not say my mom's sister? how much easier is that to understand? not only that but it sounds a lot worse and this website is all about the shock factor. no one wants to have to think about your fml.
Your dad's a winner.
#2 - On 07/31/2009 at 10:01am by percussionchic
If they get married that's gonna be really hard to explain
I agree. Lol. "Hey, this is my aunt/mom." Weird. :\
ya that sucks, my mom is married to my uncle from my dads side. its weird to explain...
#85 - On 07/31/2009 at 6:52pm by stat
My dad married my aunt.
Only it's his dead brother's widow.
It's so awkward to explain to people.
And my cousin is now my brother.
I feel for the OP :[
Well I guess you could say at least you know the woman and know what's she's like? And hey, if it's as you say and your dad has had few relationships and he's happy then just go with it and be happy for him! Not like it's illegal or anything :)
He's a real optimist, isn't he?
Look at it this way--if they get married, you can send her a card that says "Merry Christmas, Auntie Mom!"
#5 - On 07/31/2009 at 10:06am by aback
They print cards for that?!?!
you dad is an inbred piece of shit, and he is only keeping it in the family so when he nails your aunts arse he can think of your mother
Its not inbreeding at all. Although, If they had children, you and your half siblings would have the exact same set of grandparents. In a way that is nice because they are like whole-siblings. Apart from the debate that it might not be morally wrong out of respect for the dead etc, there is no reason why this is, genetically speaking, wrong. It makes sense he likes her because she is probably very similar to what your mom was like.
I do feel bad for you though, especially if it makes you feel really awkward.
How is that considered inbreeding? On a lower level, it would be like banging your girlfriends sister.
i'll bang you in a minute if you talk to me like that again
(in a perv voice) Yes I like it when you talk dirty
but on the current level, you are banging your sister-in-law
...that's pretty fucked up.
Dating your ex's sister doesn't work when you have kids...D:
What's wrong with that? Your mom's been gone for a long time, and they're not connected by blood or anything. I think you're overreacting.
She said her aunt on her mom's side... meaning that her dad is now dating her mom's sister. So, yes they are connected by blood. I wish people would read and think before they make comments.
Or it could be her mom's brother's wife that they haven't divorced yet, or they have divorced but she still calls that woman "aunt".
@16, I think 12, by "they", he/she meant OP's dad and aunt aren't blood-related...
you read, but you didn't really think about it . . . how ironic...
This reminds me of a movie where two women are talking about a guy they like. First one says "you can't have him, he's my nephew", to which the second replies "well, he's not MY nephew".
akvandervort, are you a retard or just a HUGE prude????
Who the heck gives a crap about whether the kids are related to the aunt or not?? The guy and her are NOT related by blood in any way, so they can f**k all they want!
#67 The movie you are talking about is in fact a porno from the early '80s, it's at the end
Your halfsiblings will be your halfcousins!
Her half-siblings will be her normal cousins
Wow, if they get married that is going to be one awkward family reunion. :/ Good luck with that...
#16, The person who wrote this comment said THEY are not connected by blood, as in the father and the aunt. You should apologise for trying to make him look stupid when he's quite correct.
No dumbass, not at all, at what point does being in a relationship with someone make them your blood relative. No ceremony and no amount of sex will magically make two people from different families blood related
I don't see this as a big issue. OP's parents split up a long time ago, so the wounds should be healed over. Her father has had some relationships since then, so it's NOT like he dumped her mother for her aunt, or (presumably) dumped her because he was cheating with her aunt.
I'm also assuming that she has a relationship with her aunt, so her father's new girlfriend will get along with her. It could be much, much, much worse.
Not a FML
let him be happy. who cares how you feel about it. soon enough you will be 18 and your dad will need someone. it's his life. suck it up and get over it!
hey, at least it better than it being your aunt on your dad's side
but one of my friend's parents did that
he had a lot of trouble explaining it
yeah i was gonna say the same thing, dangit
I'd love to see your family tree after this...
This is more of a "F your mom's life"
My buddy's dad did this, only after his wife DIED.
#28 - On 07/31/2009 at 10:55am by mkb
Actually, it's not considered abnormal in some cultures if a person marries their dead spouse's sibling.
Could be worse... He could be dating your aunt on HIS side.
That's exactly what I was going to say! Dating your aunt on your father's side would be a lot more scarring... so don't worry too much.
You may as well fetch a banjo and a shotgun and give up all hope.
aw, I feel bad for your dad, it seems like he's still pining for your mom, and is just looking for someone close to her. Not to say he doesn't love your aunt, but still, it could get awkward. I would say just try and be there for your dad, he'll need it.
#32 - On 07/31/2009 at 11:11am by kawa
Thats borderline embreeding lol
1. No, it's not. Not even close.
2. Judging by your spelling, there's been some "embreeding" in your family's history.
bethechange lacks basic comprehension skills.
It's crazy how whenever there's an FML about family relations, all the prude morons crawl out of the sewers to vomit their stupidity all over the page. (Not you in particular, I mean all of you commenting with "duuur, inbreeding lulzlulz".)
UUUURGH, it's painful to read.
That made me giggle. Thanks for that one.
#92 - On 07/31/2009 at 9:45pm by percussionchic
that's fucked up.
#34 - On 07/31/2009 at 11:32am by blackberry1993
Wow... your dad and aunt are terrible people.
Pray tell, why do you think that, little child?
my dad divorced my mom for the purpose of marrying my mothers niece - my cousin on my mothers side. so it could be worse.
Haha! poor you! your family tree is gonna be Awesome ;)
I don't see the big deal at all.
any normal person would have said my mom's sister...! weirdo
#40 - On 07/31/2009 at 11:44am by didi666
ha agreed but see this way she makes it sound like it's about her and not her mom..
My dad is my mom's ex-husband's ex-wife's brother, and they got married. That's kind of the same thing but not really. It's all very soap operaish.
At least its not one of those my dad is dating a girl almost my age OMG! finally something different. Um that is pretty gross your dads a damn weirdo and your aunt a slut. lol options
1. Except it and be tramatized for life.
2. Turn dark and act emo.
3. Call shananigans and run away
Since they aren't related, that's ok, just really awkward to explain. If they have kids, they would be half brothers/sisters but have the same grandparents... one creepy family reunion!! "This is my halfsister who is also my cousin" And what if there aunt already has kids? They would be your couisins and stepfamily....
ur aunt and dad are shitheads
OP - im screwing your grandma's hairy arsehole!
now who is worse, me or your dad?
You are, but because of your shitty "English" more than anything.
#58 - On 07/31/2009 at 12:50pm by Rota
you need to explain youself bitch, you not making much sense
I understand what you're going through, my aunt and uncle divorced and then he married her sister so I get it. But it's actually becoming more and more common and trust me it's really not that bad, even her daughter says it's not that bad.
#63 - On 07/31/2009 at 1:28pm by Eve_Val62591
At least it's not your aunt on your dads side
woah what did your mom say
?
that's some fucked up shit..your family could be on jerry springer.
#66 - On 07/31/2009 at 2:11pm by ha42
Atleast he's not dating your grandma like the fml earlier.
hahahaha O what the fuck did you mom say?!?!?!?
sounds like a redneck family... now ur mom is also ur step aunt and ur step mom is ur aunt... so ur brother would either be ur brother or .....??????
#70 - On 07/31/2009 at 2:58pm by TimothyJonesMD
No worries, after my mom and dad split up when i was younger my mom started dating my uncle (dad's brother) a couple years later, and they were together for about 5 years...it was wierd to say my mom is dating my uncle, but it wasnt wierd to them...
Thats better than him dating your aunt on HIS side. hahaha FUL
oh, man, that sucks. reminds me of hamlet a bit.
lol.. wat a dad..its more like Fuhk ur mom's life!
At least it's not your aunt on your father's side.
so... lets get this straight, if they have kids, would she call them cousins, or siblings... and if she has kids, are her kids still cousins, or are they now step siblings...
this is what i call "keeping it in the family"
that is disgusting. i feel sorry for you and your mother.
#79 - On 07/31/2009 at 5:18pm by lunaroseemh
I feel you, dude. My mom (who also split with my dad when I was very young) went out on a date with my paternal Uncle. A date. One. Because (even though I was only about eleven) I waited until he left and said "Jesus CHRIST woman! What the hell are you doing?!"
Uh so what? At least he's not dating your aunt on your DAD's side.
You must be from the south or you're copying a Jeff Foxworthy joke.
Didn't go far did he? This is not an FML, and like some said at least he's not "dating your aunt on you DAD's side"
There is not objective reason for why the situation could be "wrong."
Your dad fell in love. The person just happened to be your aunt. So what? Let him be happy. It's not like he planned it.
"Love is blind."
Ow well, at least he isn't dating your aunt from your dads side.
Oh man! That's effed up. Isn't the a law against this? Something in the bible? Oh dear god, make him stop.
Last I checked, the bible isn't the law. Refer to the First Amendment.
OMG! A man is dating his ex-wife's sister! The sky is falling! Run for our lives!
YDI for your mom's side of the family being sluts.
#96 - On 08/01/2009 at 12:54am by mkivsuptt
At least it's not your aunt on your dad's side.
true, but that'd be screwed up... and it's illegal
Big deal. Your dad is dating your mom's sister years after they broke up... I don't see the problem at all.
My uncle (after being divorced from my moms sister for years) wanted to date my mom & said, "I always knew I married the wrong sister" ...yeah, it is kiiinda weird to explain, but I wouldn't exactly be mad at it... My mom had a diff. opinion though- oh well.
That totally sucks, but what kind of white trash family do you come from?
#103 - On 08/01/2009 at 4:46pm by seantgla
big whoop-di damn doo. my aunt (on my moms side) and my dad have been together for almost 8 years and last feb. they got married. its not that bad. :]] you cant help who you love.
You're not alone. One of my friends is in the same situation. Only her father & aunt are now married and have a kid she has to frequently babysit, in between houses.
You're dad is awesome, deciding your mom wasn't good enough and going after her sister.
ofcoarse on your mothers side he would not date his own sister ^o) but that sux..

I'm beyond in love with my wife's sister. We've known each other for years, she's lived with us for more than five. I've supported her through a messy divorce, helped raise her child, supported her financially and emotionally. We've cried and laughed together and have gone through so many shared experiences. She's one of the most important people in my entire life. I would die or kill for her, she means so much.
I love my wife, she's beautiful and sweet. But if she and I were split as the original poster's parents did, heck yeah I'd marry her sister in a heartbeat. I'm positive she feels the same, though we don't even flirt or talk about our feelings. We're connected in a deeply emotional way. Even my wife has told me that sometimes she thinks I married the wrong sister.
Hearts and love are funny things sometimes. If OP's dad has been alone for so long, why begrudge him a chance at happiness? He couldn't have made a choice like that lightly, "coming out" was probably very difficult for him. I hope everyone comes out of this happy and fulfilled.

uhmm one thing i dont think you had to say my aunt "on my mothers side" cause i doont think that your dad would date his sister so that part is self explainable. just made me think you were kinda slowww
Wow...ackward.
