Man or woman?

Today, I paid $80 to change my cell number because my ex-girlfriend had been stalking me. To inform all of my friends of the change, I sent a mass text message to everyone in my phonebook. Including my ex. FML

I was just gonna say, if you don't like her why exactly would you still have her number in your phonebook ? Common sense buddy ! YDI

#100 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:34pm by jussmyyluckk

I kept my ex in my phone even tho he was harrassing me and anytime he called me from a different # i saved it under his name... turned his ringer on no ring. that way i could ignore it easier... i had changed my number 3 times and he always found it.

#102 - On 07/11/2009 at 12:26am by Ashleerose

"Shoulda took," huh?

#127 - On 07/11/2009 at 1:36pm by ellbtvsvm

You should just send another text that says "Oops, I meant 555-5556!" but only send it to her so she thinks you sent it to everyone.

#129 - On 07/11/2009 at 5:38pm by xohollyxo20

I'm guessing the OP texted everyone from the new number so no.. your idea would not work at all.. because you can't pay to have your number changed and then send texts from your old number

#132 - On 07/11/2009 at 9:22pm by lexiBRo

you can block anyones number you call your phone company and there's a 3 digit code they give you, you dial it then dial the number and you no longer except calls from that number. also, $80? it only costs $35 to change a number so I don't know WHERE you could have possibly had it done

#138 - On 07/12/2009 at 8:30pm by baby_love

that sucks :(

but why did you still have her number anyway?

#2 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:05pm by Heartsm3

an honest mistake i guess, but it sure sucks that you paid 80 bucks just to epically fail in the end

#3 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:06pm by thatrocker

YDI. Why would you keep her number? Seriously?

For that matter, just don't answer if/when she calls. IT can be annoying, but just ignore it. Record every instance if need be so you can get a restraining order.

iawtc

#34 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:45pm by hotbeefinjection

i agree with this as well. why would anyone keep their stalker ex's number in their phone book?

#67 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:26pm by diet_otaku

my cell has an ignore option, type in their number an it will ignore for u

#98 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:29pm by scateice

That wouldn't have the number listed in the phonebook though, would it?

#7 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:08pm by rachiebpp

If you were going to pay all that much you'd at least check you hadn't sent it to her.
I smell BS.
If you're really that stupid YDI

well that was a stupid mistake

YDI and also FYL.

#11 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:09pm by ravinderkaler

FIRST: why the hell didn't you erase her number?
SECOND: $80 are you f** kidding me? what company do have? I had a similar problem and all i had to say was that i was getting too many private calls at night and problem solved! no need to pay!
THIRD: you got ripped off.

#12 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:10pm by curlyfriez

Yeah, who pays $80 to get their number changed?! I got mine for free, and I just went in.

And they might've kept it so when she calls, they know it's her and not some random number, and they don't answer it. It's what I do. But I just don't do massive texts.

#21 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:21pm by redbluegreen

That's what I was thinking too. I have alltell and you can just have them change it for you. I think the only way it costs to change it is if you take a number from alltell and try to make it a Sprint number or some other carrier.

I could be wrong though so don't quote me.

#65 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:14pm by genius_man16

Send me her number.

BTW I used to work for Rogers Wireless and it was $25 to change the phone number. Sounds like you got shafted.

#13 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:11pm by netfreak

And why didn't you just block her number...?

#14 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:13pm by fangsupKELS

YDI for still having her number in your phonebook.

#19 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:20pm by samusfox

YDI for keeping her number in your phone book.

#20 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:20pm by slinkiess

No company would make you pay $80 to change your number. In most cases it's free, but otherwise I haven't heard of anything over $5. Simply ridiculous.

#22 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:24pm by tmlgurl

Guess what? EPIC EPIC FAIL on your part. I have people in my phone whose name is "Don't Answer" "Fuck You" things of that sort. Why would you mass send a text to those people. I have people in my phone I don't even know who they are, you get drunk put it in couple months later you're like who is this? YDI for being an idiot.

#23 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:25pm by speak_a_da_truth

Lol, not saying that I don't agree, but saying YDI for being an idiot when you have people in your cell you don't even know because you were drunk? Really? Anyway, OP, YDI for being an idiot.

#26 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:32pm by Nightfallz

Wtf how is that nice? His ex is crazy! Obviously you've never had a stalker or at least a really clingy girl like you because clingers are reeeeealllly annoying!
In fact, you're probably a stalker.

#59 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:07pm by bexox

epic fail. thats all i've got to say.

#27 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:33pm by crazieeli

know what i dont get? why if the first person says first but till makes a comment is always hidden its really stupid.you people who hide our comments even if we talk about the fml just wast 3 seconds of your time. saying first isnt that big a deal. im pretty sure this to i s gonna be hidden.

53rd!

#28 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:36pm by NewLight8421

Because everyone can already see that you're first.
You just make yourself look like a dick by writing 'FIRST!!!' and you deserve to be punished by having your inane comment hidden.
Same goes for anyone who replies to the top comment with something completely unrelated to said comment just to get at the top.

#32 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:39pm by jenkins56

and you make yourself look like a dick by paying attention and caring about that kind of stuff.

#88 - On 07/10/2009 at 10:50pm by NewLight8421

Wow, you think THEY care too much?
1- You felt the need to let everyone know that you're first because it means so much to you.
2- You started to bitch because people blocked your comment
3- You followed your bitching comment to reply back (with something exceptionally witty...)

Oh, and if YOU hadn't been 'paying attention' you wouldn't have been so goddamn excited about the fact that you were first, or even have noticed that your second comment had been replied to (:

Seriously man, I feel your pain. I was stalked by my ex bf for months & it is a horrible situation to be in.
I don't know if it'd work but you could always send another message to her acting as if you sent the wrong # and tell her a different #... it's a long shot but hey, it could work.
I hope things improve for ya. Please consider getting a restraining order ASAP & follow through with charges NO MATTER WHAT. Don't put up with stalking... you need to feel safe.
Good luck.

#33 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:41pm by wordtoyourmother

but wouldn't she get the message from his real number? lol anyone who has passed grade 6 can figure that one out. If it gets out of hand file a report with the police and they will probably offer to call her for you and tell her to stop.

#63 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:13pm by kvgf1484

How the hell would that work? The number he sent the message from is in her phone.

#35 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:48pm by mtc95

What 33rd said. She can't possess you. If she calls from a different number, hang up, etc. Put up with nothing and file that thing if she persists. My stalker started sending me pictures of him sucking his own dick, so of course I showed them to his friends. End of stalker story. (i know that sounds bogus but sadly... it so was not. sigh)

#36 - On 07/10/2009 at 5:53pm by mercyFML

what. the. hell? ...
sounds like you need to start stalking him and sending that picture to every girl he meets.
that'll teach him to fuck with you.

I wouldn't change my phone number. Tell the bitch to stop calling and if she does, call the company to block the number.

YDI for being a dumbass.

YDI, next time try handling it like a man, you got two fists

#51 - On 07/10/2009 at 6:47pm by caneut

can't you get the phone company to block numbers?

#53 - On 07/10/2009 at 6:50pm by indian_goddess

Usually, yeah, but I think it depends on the carrier. I've tried to have a number blocked, but Verizon told me they only block a number for a month which doesn't make sense to me, so I decided against it.

#56 - On 07/10/2009 at 6:57pm by sickinlove13

Yo you got hustled.

#54 - On 07/10/2009 at 6:50pm by eli_guerra

First, why would you put her number in your new phone when you have a new phone number? I can understand keeping it in your old phone so you know not to answer, but you have a new number that she wouldn't have had if you didn't text her. Second, a lot of phone companies will change your number for free if you're being harassed. I have Verizon and they've done it for me. My boyfriend has Sprint and they did it for him. One of my cousins has T-Mobile and they did it for her. You should have asked your company first since it concerns your safety.

#55 - On 07/10/2009 at 6:53pm by sickinlove13

Getting your phone number changed does not require changing the actual phone. So everyone that was in his phonebook when he had the old number would still be in there...

#133 - On 07/11/2009 at 9:25pm by lexiBRo

Why do you have her number still? She's stalking you? Don't be a punk.

#57 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:02pm by ElNegroHombre

YDI for overusing and abusing the term "stalking" like so many other dumbasses

#58 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:05pm by trojan124

You shouldn't need to pay to have your number changed for harassment reasons. If you just called and told them why you were changing it they should make it free of charge. Unfortunately I know this because it has happened to me in the past. And $80 is pretty steep, it's usually only $25 or so.

nevertheless, ydi... that's something you should have thought of before. lol

#61 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:10pm by kvgf1484

Oh boo hoo

#62 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:10pm by bexox

This was meant for #58.. the site messed up on me.

OP: At least she got the message that she's annoying. You probably sent out something along the lines of "My crazy ex is stalking me. Here's my new #". If not, she'll have to wonder why you changed it.

#64 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:13pm by bexox

Total phail, but i've done this before myself. Sucks doesn't it lol

#66 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:20pm by hanansk16

so just block her number. problem solved.

#68 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:27pm by insertAlias

you can block a specfic # ... but what if they get a new number? or use someone elses phone? . it's easier to change ur number.

But if that fails turn her ringer on silent so u never know when she's calling, and if she uses a new # then save that under her name as well.... much easier to ignore if they did find ur new number

#105 - On 07/11/2009 at 12:38am by Ashleerose

that really sucks... time to try again but I'd delete her number FIRST!

#69 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:27pm by fwangel

aaaaaah he/she said FIRST, hide the comment!!! :)

#74 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:51pm by lottofee

$80?????? are you outta yer fucking mind ? $80 is a monthly payment for service. lol you got raped

#71 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:38pm by Chr0nicdreamz

Well that sucks, think before you text. ^^

#73 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:50pm by DearGravity

Well, now you kinda have to finish what you started, nothing like a tax on stupidity; go and get it changed again, and send to everyone EXCEPT her the new number...say you made a mistake in texting them the number and that it wasn't correct or something. It'll be another $80 down the drain (ouch) but your mission will be accomplished. Depending on how bad the stalking is, $160 is well worth it, can't you tell I hate stalkers? LOL

#75 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:53pm by chea_chea

why did pay to change your number? especially $80...

#76 - On 07/10/2009 at 7:58pm by aperry057

it doesn't cost anything to change a cell number. u got ripped off. double fail

#77 - On 07/10/2009 at 8:42pm by alphaxzero

You know you can just block her number right?? Then you don't have to spend near to that much money

#78 - On 07/10/2009 at 8:44pm by the_heat01

LOL oops!

#79 - On 07/10/2009 at 8:57pm by robodoll

I know I commented before, but there are many reasons to leave someone's number in your phone. Well, mostly just one big reason..So when they call, you know it's their number! In this day and age no one remembers numbers anymore for the most part, it's almost necessary if there's a potential people you don't like will call. This works in both personal life and in business, I've made my living over the past couple years doing websites/office help for individual business owners and some of them have screwed me over, and I'll be damned if I get roped into another job that I might not get paid for. I also keep this crazy girl that always tries to get in touch with me like I'm some sort of fall-back when she breaks up with boyfriends...not because I would ever want to be with her but so I can see her name and not answer.

Long, I know...but stop giving the guy shit for keeping numbers in his phone. It comes in handy!

#80 - On 07/10/2009 at 9:06pm by chea_chea

TFS!

#97 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:24pm by Gillypants

FTW

#115 - On 07/11/2009 at 5:53am by lottofee

Definitely take her number out of your phone! When my ex left to "figure things out and hopefully one day come back" I took her numbers out of my phone right away even though I wanted her to cone back. To the people that said he kept the number to know not to answer it: he SHOULD know her # when he sees it!!!

#81 - On 07/10/2009 at 9:11pm by 2talll

Cell phones, no manual dialing - people rarely memorize phone numbers anymore genius.

#131 - On 07/11/2009 at 5:52pm by FaithX

Smooth move, dumbass. You deserve that one, I think, for not thinking to take out her number first.

#82 - On 07/10/2009 at 9:20pm by kirbyviper93

You should've just sent her a message and made it look like you accidentally sent it to her and said that you changed your number, but actually make up a random number.

#83 - On 07/10/2009 at 9:30pm by Eaglestrike117

I don't think you have to actually go through the trouble of filing a restraining order, just tell her you will.

#84 - On 07/10/2009 at 9:41pm by Karpolo

this is true, actually. my psychotic ex boyfriend to this day believes i have a restraining order against him. the cops told him i had strong evidence for one, and if i wanted one, all i had to do was make a call. when he continued to harass me, all i had to do was tell him i was making the call. he stopped bothering me.

#95 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:22pm by Gillypants

She must be happy! Next time use your head.

#85 - On 07/10/2009 at 9:42pm by macc55

Really. If you were *that* traumatized, you'd have made sure. Sounds like she's just an annoyance, and you like throwing your money away. Dumbass.

#86 - On 07/10/2009 at 9:54pm by aback

lmao send her a another text message like you better forget my last text message!!! because i didnt want you to read it... lmfao if that makes any sense

#87 - On 07/10/2009 at 10:15pm by ithedarkknight

I love FML troll posts.

Besides, $80?????? I paid about $15 for mine. Lolfail.

#89 - On 07/10/2009 at 10:57pm by waterynuggets

u r an idiot. block communications dumbass

#90 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:00pm by Newtrier

you could block your communications which does make sense. you could also have just sent a message to her that looked like a mass message that said your number had changed, and not have changed your number which is cheap and pretty effortless.

#91 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:08pm by roguevougette

Haha! Damn! And it starts over...

#92 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:12pm by jw90

this is total bullshit. fake. fake. fake. it doesn't cost anything to have your cell phone number changed in the states... especially if its for harassment reasons. i had my cell phone number changed a few months ago. i called, said, i'd like to change my number, they said, okay, did it, took five minutes. my parents changed their house phone number. took five minutes. NO CHARGE.

some people are saying it costs $25 dollars on rogers? that's a canadian company if i'm not mistaken. i guess shit works differently in canada... all i can say to this douche is he better not be american if he wants people to believe this.

#93 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:20pm by Gillypants

If she's that annoying, then first delete her number after asking her to stop calling you. If she persists, then why wouldn't you just get a restraining order?

#94 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:21pm by giebs22

it says he's from Canada. Therefore, I'm guessing he's from Canada. Maybe you should refrain from calling people douches before you actually make sure you know as much information as possible.

#96 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:23pm by giebs22

i really wasn't paying attention, so whoops. but he's still a douche. if he were REALLY concerned with her "stalking" him, there is NO CHANCE he would have "sent her the text by accident". i've been in that situation before, being harassed/"stalked". TRUST me. if she were actually stalking him, there would have been no accident. she probably calls him once every couple of weeks to see how he's doing, and he doesn't have the balls to tell her to fuck off. BUT HE'S CANADIAN EH so being passive aggressive is the name of the game. he deserves it.

#99 - On 07/10/2009 at 11:33pm by Gillypants

HEY dont insult canadians! u insult 1 u insult us all! god ur such a bad person its not even funny. What did canadians ever do to you???

#101 - On 07/11/2009 at 12:10am by shortblindactor

dumb shit lol

better bust out another 80 bucks :-)

#104 - On 07/11/2009 at 12:34am by azure8787

maybe your a dick and that why she call you so much, to tell you what a dick you are, obviously your stupid to pay that much to change your number so maybe your a stupid dick and you probably deserve whatever bullshit she has been trying to put you through, most guys like you do

#106 - On 07/11/2009 at 12:54am by reality82

Umm..I just noticed noticed the category of this FML.

#107 - On 07/11/2009 at 1:30am by cutebebe778

okay, so obviously 95% of these people have never been stalked. it's sort of hard to focus clearly when a bad person in your life constantly harasses you. I feel for you mate, just tell her to fuck off and hope she doesn't come around with a gun. FYL.

#108 - On 07/11/2009 at 1:56am by texxxasissouth

wow, wait to go you idiot, didnt you think to take her off ur contact list, dogs...AHH TERETS!! cause jimmy does crack AND CORN.

#117 - On 07/11/2009 at 8:54am by mochie

It sucks that you have an obsessive ex, but I also need to call BS because I don't know of 1 wireless carrier that will charge &80 to change a number. AT&T charges $36 (I worked for them in customer care so I did alot of number changes) and sometimes depending on your situation and who you talk to, you won't be charged at all. As we all know, AT&T likes to over-charge EVERYTHING! I believe you did a dumbass thing like sending your ex your new number but I think you're lying about how much you paid. A stupid thing to lie about too. Maybe she called to tell you she is prego! Stop being a d-bag dude.

EPIC FAIL.

Y was she in there

#128 - On 07/11/2009 at 4:24pm by harmonb

All of these people asking why the number was still in there are stupid - with a cell phone, people rarely have to dial a number manually so numbers don't get memorized, keeping it in the phone allows him to NOT ANSWER when it shows up. How hard is that to figure out???

YDI though - for being so careless with your money and for having such a shitty cell company. I've changed my number 4 times and never paid a cent for it.

ROFL YOU GENIUS

#134 - On 07/11/2009 at 11:31pm by zolitical

YDI you can block her number you know? you call the phone company and ask them to block the number....

#135 - On 07/12/2009 at 3:47am by skittlesxmonster

Ex's can call from a different number. so he'd have to call and block every number she called from. much easier to just change ur number.

#136 - On 07/12/2009 at 8:59am by Ashleerose

if your with rogers call and have them put up Call Manager on your account it only costs $5/month, then access it online u can block any numbers and even private numbers .. easiest way to save money and block anyone you want without any hassles :)

If you have an iPhone, you can get Mcleaner. It allows you to blacklist numbers (blocks the call)

#140 - On 07/25/2009 at 8:26pm by boredboisereside

I don't know what company you're with, but i've changed my landline number, and my cell. Landline is 35 dollars and Cell is only 10.. Soooo switch company's, loser. or stop lying. cuz i'm from BC, and we only have a handful of service providers. Moron.

#141 - On 07/27/2009 at 11:45am by asherlypants

and it's not a felony to get stoned. bahahahah.

#142 - On 07/27/2009 at 11:46am by asherlypants

Blocking her wouldn't really help. One of my really good friends has an ex that doesn't call him herself. She has SEVERAL other people call him during the day and harass him for her.
