Today, my boyfriend and I were choosing animals that reminded us of eachother. I said he reminded me of a tiger because he is really muscular. He told me I reminded him of a zebra. When I asked him why, he said it was because of my stretchmarks. FML

#5, stretchmarks don't occur just because she's "let herself go" - don't be so insensitive. girls naturally get curvier (hips, breasts) during puberty and it can take a few years after puberty is done for them to TOTALLY disappear. they don't need to be reddish - often when they're old they're skin-colored and not as easy to detect.

I agree with #12. You don't just get stretch marks by "letting yourself go". I still have some on my upper inner thighs from growth spurts during puberty and I'm fairly skinny.

My God...just because she has stretchmarks doesn't mean she's fat...I weigh 118 lbs at a height of 5'7" and I've NEVER weighed more and even I have stretchmarks on my boobs, butt and thighs, for one thing because like #12 mentioned when you get curvier during puberty and your boobs grow too fast it just happens and the other reason is simply that I have really weak connective tissue, hereditary issue that I got from my Mom...and that's all stretchmarks are...ripped connective tissue that heals and the scars show up as stretchmarks

Because just as in "you're a zebra because of your stretchmarks" that little bit extra makes it cross the line from a silly joke into rude. It's like saying that when you look at the person those imperfections are all you see. If you just throw the name of a weird animal out there, sure, it's just a joke, but if you're actually coming up with things to back your claims it's just... not that nice.

Personally I feel that no girl deserves being treated like that, however it doesn't mean the same thing to guys as it does to girls. I'm 5'7" and weigh 111 lbs. I have stretch marks om my thighs, hips, back, and breasteses. I have never weighed more than 111 lbs. I got my stretch marks from growing Über fast. I wish I didn't have them, but there's nothing I can do about it. so please please please don't give anyone a hard time about them.

I'm a skinny girl and I even have stretch marks just from when my hipbones widened during puberty.
My bf also has stretchmarks from working out and gaining significant muscle mass a few years ago. The OP's bf is a jerk. All of the people implying that the girl is "fat" or "let herself go" obviously have no understanding of how stretchmarks are actually FORMED. You can get them from growth spurts and getting taller, from LOSING weight, from working out or from puberty. I don't know any men OR women with NO stretchmarks at all.
Dude i got super sick and almost died and i was on steriods for like a long time and i got super bad strech marks and still have them sucks huge camel dicks what a jerk!
