You didn't deserve that at all, since you were obviously trying to make her happy and come up with a nice gift. The least she could do was breaking up with you in person.

Sorry to hear that OP. But if she broke up with you like that that then she wasn't a keeper. She doesn't deserve you. What you wanted to make her as a gift was really sweet.
