Today, I totalled my car. I flipped it over on the freeway and broke my collarbone in the process. I was in extreme pain and unable to move. It took the ambulance an hour to get there in rush hour traffic. The song repeating on my iPod was, "Don't Worry, be Happy." FML

Were you having an "I Am Legend" moment? All by yourself with don't worry be happy playing ha (maybe humor will make you heal faster)

Glad you're ok though :( get better soon!

#44 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:30am by pancakes_n_syrup

#1 are you kidding? I'd prefer to die before being a whole hour listening to that crappy song.
Maybe something like Fort Minor's High Road would do it, but no way Don't Worry, Be Happy!

PS: OP YDI for listening shitty music.

#45 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:33am by bananamilkshake

No pity here when the solution is as easy as pulling the plug out of the iPod. Also, you have the song on your iPod in the first place, it's kind of karma if you think about it.

#51 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:02am by TheTruth1428

He was in too much pain to move, but on the bright side, at least he learned a valuable lesson.

#53 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:05am by LOLYLIF

FAKE!!! Who brakes their clavical and then gets on the computer just to put it up on FML. U'd b too drugged out on pain killers to even make it to your computer. U just wanted to be on FML.

FAKE

#85 - On 11/04/2009 at 2:58pm by pinkdancer

An "I Am Legend" moment? That's not even the same song...or the same artist...

#87 - On 11/04/2009 at 3:26pm by JessiGoose

Dude, maybe this happened months ago. FML's (though it's required they begin with TODAY) don't necessarily need to happen on the day of the event. It doesn't matter if it's true or not, it's funny as hell!

#88 - On 11/04/2009 at 3:27pm by xxCFHxx

Uhm, actually, I've broken my collar bone and was given two pain pills, a sling, and sent on my way. i was able to go to school the next day and chat online the very same night. And this may have happened quite a while ago.

#97 - On 11/04/2009 at 5:30pm by FeeBbyCakes

Breaking your collar bone wouldnt put you in THAT much pain. I broke mine during football practice and went another 2 plays before I sat out. I didn't need pain killers either.

#108 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:38pm by DDay35

@108

there is no way you played football, let alone did the running that comes with football, with a broken collar bone. iv broken(lacrosse impact) and bruised it severly(hit with a full soda bottle >.>) and although if you bruise the bone it still hurts, it isnt nearly as bad as breaking.

and to the OP: be glad it wasnt some kind of scream metal screaming about pain and torture and what not

#139 - On 11/06/2009 at 10:54pm by imsobored69

Da docta says your bone did break... he might have to litigate.. so don't worry... be happy. ;)

#2 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:16am by Jimboom

hahaha, made my day,
.....don't worry

#32 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:33am by v1kt4r

As long as you are happy, you heal faster. Consider it a helping hand on the way to recovery.

#3 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:21am by DasHaas

Has everyone missed the fact she did not mention why she flipped? I have money on you were weaving in an SUV on the highway at 90? That is probably a good sign YDI for driving like you have terets.

#72 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:50pm by jackkerouc9

Was "terets" a bad attempt at insulting someone by saying they have a disability called Tourette's Syndrome?

#112 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:45pm by dudeitsdanny

sorry to hear that op but really be thankful nothing worse happened i mean you coulda died man..
like marley said dont worry be happy :DDD

#4 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:25am by Mx_Rider

Thats my philosophy! :D

#59 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:33am by Sun_Kissed18

this song is not by Bob Marley, its by Bobby McFerrin

#83 - On 11/04/2009 at 2:46pm by JohnFrusciante

That's horrible to hear
and my FYL is sincere.
Too bad the crash
and resulting bash
could knock the headphones from your ear.

2 free internets for you!

#29 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:08am by ILIEKGIRLS

I always wanted my own internets. I shall keep them in a fish bowl and feed them everyday.

#31 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:31am by rhymethyme

That and no EMT would board someone and leave their iPod in their ears.
I think I'm going to call my first fake.
Unless the OP meant that it was playing before the crash,
but in context that isn't what's being said.

YDI, OP, for not thinking this FML before typing it up.

#57 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:13am by _fake_

Heh, you might want to think a little more before calling Fake. Not sure how you missed it but the Op is saying they were pinned down in the car after the accident and couldn't move. The iPod was still playing but stuck on that song. And then it took the ambulance an hour to get to the Op and remove her from the car so while she was unable to move and waiting for the ambulance she had to listen to that song over and over for an hour.

#64 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:18pm by miyon

Besides, couldn't the iPod have been hooked up to the radio, or something? OP never said she was wearing the headphones. Isn't it bad to drive with headphones in, anyway?

Doesn't sound fake to me. :/ FYL OP. At least the song could have been worse!

#67 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:33pm by Tequilamockngbrd

Or break the stereo.
Or shut the car off if it was plugged into the radio.
Or disconnect the ipod from the radio. Or it's FM transmitter.
Any way you look at it, it's damn near impossible.
Fake or exaggerated.

#73 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:57pm by _fake_

It's also illegal to drive with headphones. I'd assume the iPod was running through the car stereo.

#75 - On 11/04/2009 at 1:08pm by i_am_not_me

Why does it matter if it's fake, anyway? It's already on the site and obviously, it made people laugh. People calling out "OMG FAKE" isn't going to make the story less funny, and I'm sure no one is going to take it down. I guess people just do it for the attention.

#93 - On 11/04/2009 at 4:03pm by Tequilamockngbrd

Or quite possibly for the conversation that ensues.

Go suck a duck.

#106 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:14pm by _fake_

Ah, got it. I guess some people are just into being proven wrong. I dig it. By all means, continue.

#110 - On 11/04/2009 at 9:50pm by Tequilamockngbrd

Thanks love ;) So we're meeting up later then?
I am feeling quite randy.

It doesn't really matter if it's fake or not...
The point is it's extremely unlikely for, in such a severe crash, the radio to stay on and audio to still function. The probability of there being enough damage to break bones in most cars without doing severe body and mechanical damage is extremely unlikely, unless the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.

I speak from the standpoint of a mechanic, and seeing so many damaged cars, and knowing how they work, all I was saying was it's really, really, REALLY unlikely.

Unless of course OP has Osteogenesis Imperfecta, in which case she would be even more beat up than described.

Which is why, I suppose, it's an FML- because the actual chance of this happening is so rare that OP's L is F'd.

#116 - On 11/05/2009 at 12:13am by _fake_

Hah! Sure, why not.

Yeah, I don't really know much from a mechanic's point of view, so I guess you got me there. Fake or not, it made me laugh, so I like it. :]

#127 - On 11/05/2009 at 2:05pm by Tequilamockngbrd

I'm sorry but it just sounds so funny i had to laugh, though i know the saying what comes around goes around, now I'm regretting it now, but hope you recover quickly and do as the song Don't worry, be happy FYL

#6 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:31am by Xathanos

Hope you'l heal soon =]

#7 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:32am by LilKonvicted

oh number 6 youll be fine 2, i laughed at the part he said it took an hour for the paramedic to get there i am one right now im 18 and i know theres no way in hell it takes that long no matter what and for a roll over crash too? nahhhhh hope u got insurance op....

#8 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:35am by Mx_Rider

#9 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:44am by notworthliving

Haha thats funny

#10 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:46am by mitch707

WTF ... Hats off Bro ... I really appreciate you posting this on FML from Hospital with all the pain .. Wow ...

If that's so then YDI ... probably that's how you got into an accident by texting while driving ...

#11 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:50am by LiarPantsFire

Aaand another one who doesn't realize all FML stories have to begin with "Today".

OP, I feel sorry for you. Not only because of the pain and the hassle ... I think I'd have gone insane in your situation.

#15 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:14am by Vanita

You were going fast enough and had enough space to flip your car (that's harder than it sounds) in rush hour traffic, it took the ambulance an hour to get there, nobody approached and tried to help during this time (I guess you'd have tried to make them turn it off for you), your iPod switched to repeat by itself when you crashed and when you finally got to the hospital, the first thing you did was go here to post it?

Kudos for the imagination and getting these morons to believe it, but I call shenanigans. Shenaaaaanigans!

Edit: Good song.

#14 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:10am by Jotne

Actually, number 14, its not particularly hard to roll a car depending on the type of vehicle. Your tire can catch the lip of the road and roll. Also, I'm sure that the first thing they did was NOT get on here and post their fml considering that EVERY fml starts with "Today, ...." even if they happened last month.

#80 - On 11/04/2009 at 2:28pm by helbrit

sorry..but i had to laugh...great song

#16 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:19am by reecescuphoe

YDI for having that song on your iPod. Seriously.

#17 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:19am by jchansfan

Agreed.

#48 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:46am by mercyFML

You shouldn't be listening to your ipod while driving, unless it's hooked up to the car stereo... So depending on that it's a YDI or FML, I have a feeling it was the first one

#18 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:20am by 01100110

They must have been listening to their ipod with earbuds because it sounds like the song repeated during the ambulance drive. Total YDI for driving with earbuds in!

#43 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:26am by sparrowhawk

It took an hour for the ambulance to get to the Op. Read slower

#65 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:20pm by miyon

I agree with #14. I get sick of seeing the stupidest made up stories day, after day.

#19 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:39am by AABatteries

Stupid driver listening to stupid song.

#20 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:41am by youthink

have you guys forgotten tht every fml has to start with today. that doesnt mean it happened to them today it could have been weeks ago or months ago since it has happened.

#21 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:44am by WOW_idc123

Even if that was the case, there are still numerous inconsistencies. Not to mention that OP could have started with "Today, I got back from the hospital(...)" or something like that. Your post is irrelevant and idiotic.

#24 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:58am by Jotne

hahahaha I woke up to this song today. i was like.. kay?

#22 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:47am by Bdellophobic

Gosh, no wonder why you got in an accident. You have some crappy songs on your ipod. Hahaha.

#23 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:57am by NorfolkDude

What does YDI mean???

#25 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:59am by Whatsoever

YDI is for You deserve it, and FYL is for Fuck your life.

#28 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:07am by Drayon

You'd think what with the crash and broken bones and waiting an hour for help, surely Don't Worry Be Happy would be the silver lining in all of this...?

#26 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:06am by anjyu22

oh, the irony....

#27 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:06am by ffmylife

The point of the iPod is YOU have the power to choose what's on it, so you NEVER have to hear garbage that irritates the shit out of you.

That's why I have one song on my iPod, Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life." It is the pinnacle of achievement in the world of music, everything before and after it are crap.

#33 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:39am by perdix

O___o

lols. Well, if I had to pick a songbird of that era, I'd have to go with Karen Carpenter :]

#47 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:44am by mercyFML

I agree, she deserves it for having that terrible fucking song on her ipod.

#52 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:05am by donkey_hang_down

Mercy,

Debby Boone ate Karen Carpenter's lunch!

#62 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:07pm by perdix

I am sure that they actually like the song... the fact that it was playing repeatidly probably annoyed them under the circumstances.

#81 - On 11/04/2009 at 2:30pm by helbrit

O! I don't doubt that..

Debby: ♫ So many nights, I.. ♫ *yoink*
"bwahaha, Carepenter!" *runs* "omnomnomnom"

Karen: o.o *starves*

#103 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:45pm by mercyFML

Everything are? Grammar fail.

#141 - On 11/07/2009 at 8:10pm by Harry_Poochi

so no one believes your FML?
and at your expense share a good LOL
don't worry......be happy :P

#34 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:46am by someone1989

I'm gonna have to go with both FML and YDI here. Obviously you and your car got pretty damaged, and that sucks even if you did deserve it. However, this is definitely a YDI because you are clearly a terrible driver since you somehow managed to be driving so carelessly that you flipped your car... "in rush hour traffic"?

#35 - On 11/04/2009 at 9:02am by Khatog

Basshunter!

#36 - On 11/04/2009 at 9:07am by blakehilli8

WTF? How the hell did you flip your car on the interstate? Unless you have exceptionally bad luck, there's likely to be at least some small part of that which happens to be your fault, even if others were involved. The song's right about one thing though - you're probably lucky to be alive.

#37 - On 11/04/2009 at 9:14am by blastvortex

wow now that is a FML!

#38 - On 11/04/2009 at 9:31am by chrismard

Yeah, try flipping 5 times on the highway and breaking both of your femurs, damaging your right arm, and puncturing your ankle, just to spend a month in the hospital. While your sister gets out with a bruise when she was the one driving.

#39 - On 11/04/2009 at 9:32am by Skylily

how the hell did you flip it in rush hour traffic i call fake

#40 - On 11/04/2009 at 9:50am by LeStab

there's a reallll good chance you deserved it because you were messing with your iPod when you should have been driving.

just saying.

#41 - On 11/04/2009 at 9:56am by kb26hockey

#40: I'm guessing that either he caused the traffic or that rush hour came while he was lying there

OP: now that's ironic XD

#42 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:22am by RatIsKing

I'm sorry OP, but I laughed. That's the kind of thing that would happen in a black comedy or something. But at least you're ok.

Don't worry

Be happy.

#46 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:36am by kazkazkazkaz

I hope to god you never drive again.

#49 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:47am by buttseckz

you broke your collor bone and the day it happens you post it on fml, something tells me its fake

#50 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:59am by kinneyman4

also no one even stopped to help you sorry just unbelievable

#54 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:07am by LeStab

If YOU totaled your car, it means you were driving recklessly somehow. Unless someone else rammed you or something, you deserve it big time, fucker.

#55 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:09am by Flounder

GET OFF YOUR F$$$ING IPOD'S, PHONES, PLAYERS, BLACK BERRIES AND LEARN TO DRIVE YOUR CAR!!!!!! THEN THIS WONT HAPPEN!

#60 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:36am by blue_eyed

Lets see, she broke her collarbone and posted the FML the same day, she also flipped her car in RUSH hour traffic. FAKE.

#61 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:42am by DJ_Grim

Well, the "today" is added automatically...

#63 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:11pm by Cloudy

Wow. I am no longer going to read the comments. It is truely scaring me how dumb and/or mean people are.

#66 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:25pm by miyon

my mom would always tell me that if she kidnapped someone she would play that song over and over again.

#68 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:34pm by esweetsweet

damn you were able to flip your car in rush hour traffic? WTF were you doing? you didn't die, so I'm gonna say learn to drive and slow the fuck down?

#71 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:45pm by secretly_insane

At least your iPod still works? ):

#74 - On 11/04/2009 at 1:07pm by Angel_Vice

i don't mean to sound like a broken record for all the other ppl who pointed this out, but there are all sorts of things wrong with your story. flipping in rush hour traffic? how is it even possible to drive that freaking fast? and you mean to tell me that your ipod pieces were still in your ear? plus, don't ambulances have sirens precisely for this sort of thing?

#76 - On 11/04/2009 at 1:10pm by quarty165

The OP never said it was in "rush hour traffic." Besides, its completely possible to flip a car on the freeway, rush hour traffic or not. Also, I'm sure that their iPod pieces were not still in the OPs ears, they do make plugs and FM transmitters that iPods plug into so that you aren't driving with headphones in. What do you mean about the ambulances, yes ambulances have sirens.

#82 - On 11/04/2009 at 2:34pm by helbrit

Remind me to not download that song ever...something similar could happen LOL!

#77 - On 11/04/2009 at 1:16pm by THTB

sure today. and thats why you shouldnt listen to you ipod while driving! gabehcoud!!!!!!!!!!!!

#79 - On 11/04/2009 at 2:05pm by Erindub

i fucking love that song!

#84 - On 11/04/2009 at 2:54pm by 123e3

and after all that you still posted it on FML

#86 - On 11/04/2009 at 3:24pm by the_holy_one

I'm tired of people trying to judge what is fake and what isn't. I know quite a few FML's are fake, but most of the time it's true, but people post it on FML weeks later. I know that's what I did. :/

#89 - On 11/04/2009 at 3:29pm by JessiGoose

I bet that song is probably totally ruined 4 u now. When ever u listen to it, u think of breaking ur tail bone.

#90 - On 11/04/2009 at 3:38pm by movies12

YDI for listening to a hypnotising song like that. Bob Marley is in your brain.

HAHA. Your okay. But this is funny. heh

#99 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:06pm by th

I hope you realize Bobby McFerrin won't play this song anymore because people took it the wrong way. He intended it to be ironic. Listen to his tone of voice the next time you listen to this song. It's sarcastic and describes events that you SHOULD worry about. Just not as severe as this.

#100 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:24pm by Werew

I THINK YOUR ON THE WRONG SITE. THAT WOULD BE FUNNY TO HERE THE SONG PLAYING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. BESIDES YOUR ALIVE ARENT YOU?

That's the funniest thing I've read all day.
Except for the broken bone.

I bet you can never listen to that song the same again.

#105 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:11pm by movies12

#107 - On 11/04/2009 at 8:37pm by mommmma

Lol, that reminds me, my grandpa used to have a singing fish that sang that song.
I was really amused by it when I was younger. o.o

There's this newfangled invention called a RADIO.

that song always makes me feel better. I'd find it hard not to laugh if I were in your situation, that's just a slap in the face from life, it's okay.

#133 - On 11/05/2009 at 7:06pm by bethiebebe

Oh no! Haha, that's hilariously ironic, but I am glad you're at least more ok than you could be, considering the situation. Get better soon!

one-hour traffic for an ambulance in minnesota??
forget the fact that youre typing after breaking your collar bone and that you shouldn't be driving with headphones.....seriously, one-hour traffic in minnesota???
i live in california and it wouldn't take an ambulance that long to get there! everybody moves while the ambulances haul ass!

#135 - On 11/06/2009 at 2:25am by lyssalicious

# 85 I broke my clavicle when I was 12, I was on tons of prescription painkillers which did nothing for me, but the very next day I was on my bike riding to the pool and swimming, therefore, you either have a low tolerance to drugs or you have no idea what you are talking about.

#142 - On 11/08/2009 at 10:28am by KaitlynMcChesney

don't forget just becase that's the only thing he broke doesn't mean everything else hurts to. he was In a fucking car crash

#143 - On 11/08/2009 at 1:06pm by ryder4782

When my older brother died in the womb the doctor sang the same song as he did the postmortem abortion...I think it's terrible for that song to be used in such content...including your accident.

#144 - On 11/09/2009 at 1:01am by darknessrose1993

LOL agree wth #129 haha xD

#145 - On 11/09/2009 at 1:49am by iarediana

funny, but how did the iPod magically get on repeat? OP would have had to already have it on repeat before the crash right? Still an hour of that song would be really annoying!

#146 - On 11/10/2009 at 7:32pm by mnbv7654

>_> You were listening to your iPod and you totaled your car. Hmm...

#147 - On 11/14/2009 at 11:44pm by InsomPsycho

next time instead of going through your ipod or your phone maybe you should pay attention to driving, dont be an idiot
