Today, while working at my new job at a veterinary hospital, I was excited that I set a urinary catheter in a dog for the first time. I guess I was a little too enthusiastic though, because I pulled it out too fast and bloody urine splashed up all over my face. FML

you know, my dog is getting fixed tomorrow. it's people like you that frighten me to take her.

that dog is going to have a catheter complex now. nothing worse than the old catheter complex ... it changes a canine. takes away your dignity. even fetch doesn't seem quite the same.

In San Francisco peoe pay money for that.

"I pulled it out too fast and ____ urine splashed up in my face"

If you remove "I was excited that I set a urinary catheter in a dog for the first time", it sounds like OP is ******* someone with bladder control problems on their period in a vet hospital while on the clock.

What's exciting about putting in a catheder? I can understand giving someone a shot for the first time, and doing it right, or taking someones vitals or something...but putting in a catheder?

It's not quite the same as placing catheters in animals, but I'm a nursing student and being able to do any new skill is exciting. Hell, I was excited to make a hospital bed in a long term care facility for the very first time lol. So I can see how placing a catheter could be very exciting, I know I am excited to do it, along with anything that is new and helps me learn what I need to do as a nurse.
