Today, I went to the water park with my boyfriend. A swimsuit was required to go on the rides. My bikini straps somehow got torn off and I had nothing else with me. My boyfriend said, "Hell, just wear my spare shorts. You could pass as a guy with your chest". FML

Today, I went to the beach. While I was swimming, I noticed a few really hot guys passing. Trying to be sexy, I slowly got out of the water, showing off my body. I showed a bit more than I expected when I realized my bikini bottom had fallen off. FML

Today, I took the kids to the pool. I'm short and 20lbs overweight but they talked me into it and I put on a swimsuit for the first time in 10 years. As soon as we got there, a girl my height but a good 150lbs heavier said, "It's so nice to see another big girl in a two-piece!" FML

Today, me and my friend were following this hot lifeguard around a waterpark. In the wave pool, I decided to be cute and "accidentally" bump into him during the waves to start a conversation. As I prepared to do this, a large wave pushed me off my feet and I fell face-first into his butt. FML

He was very rude very ignorant and I'm hoping that I'm wrong with all of this and that he said what he did because there were a bunch of skanky people running around in dental floss and tissue paper! maybe he was just really really really happy to see a mature modest woman for a change. It could happen I promise! Perhaps it was a compliment? Unless he was obviously rude or sarcastic, it is possible. As said in other comments, maybe he's religious, conservative (as in old-fashioned, not political), a father, or is simply a man who appreciates women who still dress modestly in this day and age. Maybe he's seen so much near nudity that day, a one-piece was a welcome change. Regardless of how self-conscious and physically fit (or not) someone may be, not everyone wants to see- or wants their kids to see- excessive skin in public. If he was poking fun and implying that you don't have the body to pull off any other suit, then that really blows. Some people should keep their opinions to themselves. Hopefully karma sorts this all out.

I'm guessing the guy was saying it to be an asshole, but even if he wasn't, he needs to shut up. People wear skimpy bathing suits to pools/waterparks and that's fine; it's a bathing suit, and if it covers your genitals, that's all you need. If you're not okay with that and have such a strong moral objection to small bikinis, then don't go to pools/waterparks. Meanwhile, I don't see anyone saying anything about men wearing shirts to appear more modest, even though they have nipples and breast tissue as well...
