Today, I learned the news about Queen Elizabeth in the most awkward way possible. My friend suddenly came into my house and shouted, "THE QUEEN IS DEAD!" It scared me so badly that I spit my drink out all over his clothes. Then I took another drink and spit it out again when I realized who he was referring to. FML

Today, I had to explain to a friend that the show writers for Glee did not write "Bohemian Rhapsody" and that Freddie Mercury did not steal the song from them. We're both 17 years old, and she reacted by kicking a chair at me. FML

Today, I saw a girl wearing a Nirvana shirt. Since Nirvana has been my favorite band for a long time, I tried striking up a conversation with her. Turns out she doesn't even listen to them, and only bought the shirt because she "liked the smiley face." FML

Today, my mom mentioned how she loves a certain actor's "British" accent. I couldn't help but mention that there's no such thing, and that there are lots of different accents in Britain. She got pissed and lectured me for "lying" to her and trying to make her feel stupid. FML

I hope you started singing some of their songs and when she says, "ohhhh yeah I have heard of those" tell her the British Queen's band did those... I love how people don't think about maybe just saying, "well I don't recognize the name--can you give me some of their songs so I can see if I recognize them?!". Could have been an opportunity for her to learn something...

I think it is adorable that children are showing off how cool they are because they listen to Queen. When I was a kid (late 80's/early 90's) when Queen were still actually around (in full) none of my friends new who they were and I was a geek for liking them. There was literally me, my brother and his friend lesley that listened to them in our whole school. How times have changed.
