Did he do this with all customers or just you? I would definitely change barbers, unless he just has a peculiar sense of humour and wasn't actually threatening.

From my experiences at hair salons, I just imagine some friendly, plump woman gossiping with her coworkers and interrupting her conversation with a "boy, I'm going to stab you if you don't sit still" in a joking kind of way. Still, an odd thing to say. And if she didn't sound like she was joking, I would have gotten up from the chair and told the manager I wanted someone else to finish the cut because his employee made me fear for my life. lol

I don't really think I would take it seriously. Many people go to the same barber/stylist for years and you tend to develop a relationship with them where they feel comfortable enough to joke about things like that when getting you to sit still. I go to my sister and she says wayy worse things when getting annoyed with me.
