Today, I was fired for "customer dissatisfaction." I work in IT and have never met one of my company's customers. FML

Today, despite filling all the parameters for a model employee and being praised by multiple people over the time I was working, I was fired because a client complained to my manager that I didn't seem to know what I was doing. FML
Today, I was fired from my job because I, in my boss's words, "Abided by company policy to such an extent that customers were starting to hate me." FML
Today, I was fired for being a very happy and perky employee. According to my boss, it freaks both the customers and my co-workers out. FML
Today, my boss was angry at me because I had filed a complaint about him refusing to change our phone service to something more reliable. Later, a customer called him and said I had hung up on him. I got fired. I didn't hang up on the customer, the phone service just dropped the call. FML
Today, I got yelled at for providing horrible customer service, in a store I don't even work for. FML
Today, at work, my computer started acting up. I told my boss I could fix it, but he told me to call the IT department instead. Neither the IT technician or his supervisor could figure it out, so I showed them what was wrong and how to fix it. I was promptly fired for wasting 2 hours of company time. FML
Today, a customer filed a formal complaint with corporate about me, because I wouldn't help her find things she wanted while I was off the clock. We were in a completely different store than the one where I actually work. FML
Today, I was fired on my second day of work after a year and a half of unemployment. Apparently, my "tendency to solve problems instead of just accepting them made the other workers uneasy". FML
Today, I was fired for actively seeking employment with another company. Because of having just been fired, the other company will no longer give me the time of day. FML
Today, I won employee of the month. I was then fired for being late. FML

You sure about that? Even via e-mail? Or a phone call that you may have been a little rude to the person because you had never met them? Because I.T guys are well known for their temperament and patience when it comes to speaking with plebs on the phone/e-mail. For the record I am in IT. So I get how it happened. You just got to be more careful about that. Even if you think you were joking or being funny. the wrong person reading it could take it another way and get you outta there very quickly. But on the off chance you actually didn't do or say anything wrong to this person, well then **** them. I hope you gave them a nice virus or at least reset all their passwords/encyrpted all their e-mails before you left.

The economy sucks and they don't want to have to pay you unemployment. Easier for them to skirt this if they claim it was your own fault you're unemployed.

Like the previous posters said, the internal employees are your customers, and if you never met them, well then maybe thats why. I work in IT too, and we have one or two people who seem to work in a vacuum and are clueless to the company business.

IT? don't you work directly with employees? they might not have an "employee dissatisfaction" option, but since you serve other employees, they figured "customer dissat." might have been good enough... either way, everyone's looking for reasons to fire anyone, so don't sweat it. no one will hold it against you for being fired at this point in time.
