Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I met a guy online. We talked all night long and hit it off amazingly. He told me he'd never felt that way about anyone else, and I agreed. He sent me a picture and he was gorgeous. I sent him one after he assured me he didn't care what I looked like. I haven't heard from him since. FML
Today, I went to a coffee shop to meet an online date. I couldn't spot him, so he eventually came up and introduced himself. It seems his on-line picture must have been taken before I was born. I spluttered "This isn't going to work," and promptly scuttled out. FML
Today, while on Grindr, I saw that this guy I'm friends with and have liked for a while now had messaged me. I got all excited, just for it to be a picture of him flipping me off. FML
Today, I finally met the guy I've been getting to know online in person for a date. When we saw each other, we both realized that we had heavily Facetuned our profile pictures. The awkward silence that followed was the longest five minutes of my life. FML
Today, a relative showed me a picture of her phone. I also saw a picture of her husband, a friend, sleeping. He looked like he was dead to the world. I asked, jokingly, "Why is there a picture of a dead guy on your phone?" Turns out it was her father, who is in the hospital, and dying any day now. FML
Today, after many weeks of talking to this guy over the phone for hours on end and establishing that we both had feelings for the other, we met in person. He saw me, got an "emergency text," and hasn't talked to me since. FML
Today, I went for coffee with some people from work. I lined up to order behind a guy I'd only met a few times. When he paid, he dropped his wallet, and I saw that he had a picture of me cut from the company newsletter, enlarged, and taped inside his wallet. FML
Today, I went on an online date. I'd spent a while getting ready and making sure I looked good. When I arrived at the café, I saw my date and approached with a smile. He stood up, looked me over, and said, "Oh, I thought you were your profile picture’s friend." Then left. FML
Today, my elderly coworker was telling me about a long-lost friend, so I helped her use the Internet to look the friend up. We found her. Specifically, her obituary. FML
Today, I was talking to a girl online and she stopped talking to me abruptly after seeing my picture. FML

Yes, but then again she hardly knew him. Plus, my first choice for sympathy wouldn't be FML.

I guess you reached a dead end.

That's a pretty insensitive comment, don't you think?

#1- your sense of humor was mildly inappropriate for the nature of the FML, and that's an understatement
scooterdude720 19
Lol I see you changed your comment to something that makes less sense, #17.

My mind isn't the sharpest at 3 am- my apologies

I repeat this often here but FML isn't meant to be a serious place but rather a place to joke around on and just a more casual setting. That being said, this joke made me laugh inside more than it should have.

I didn't realize this was sixbillionsecrets or other sites similar, I'd advise those with such a small sense of humor or sense of sarcasm to go elsewhere because as one of the staff has said before, this is fml it was made for funny, stupid, ironic, or mildly awful yet still kindof humorous things. it's not like #1 was joking about anyone that meant anything to you guys in my twisted mind that comment was actually really funny. whoops I must be an awful person for that

In hindsight, yeah I took that comment a bit too seriously. I must admit though, it was a pretty good pun :)

Next you'll be asking us to jump on the feels train. While slightly moderated I see FML as a tamer version of 9gag when it comes to comments, try this FML over there and watch the comments get 1000x worse.

Yeah I'm kinda kicking myself over this one, but I'll take what I deserve. Sorry again! Have a nice day:)

This isn't really an appropriate FML... I feel like I'd be a really shitty person if I were to vote on it. I'm just really uncomfortable now.
MsMourningStar 22
How is the inappropriate? That is a very sad thing. And it's totally an FML if someone you like and are dating dies! I mean it sucks for everyone that knew that person so what's so wrong and "inappropriate" about OP sharing her sadness with us on a site that's about sharing the ****** up shit that happens to you in life?
incoherentrmblr 22
Inappropriate? What's inappropriate is your misappropriation...

If he had that would be straight out of the Twilight Zone. Sorry for your loss

Online dating almost never works out
idknicholle 14
That's dumb. I was with a guy for 3 yrs and we met on MySpace.. for the first year we lived 8 hours away, then he moved here and we spent two pretty good years together... He just wasn't the one! I met my current bf online and we lived down the road from each otber our whole lives... he's my best friend and we've been going strong for two years... so YES! It CAN work... they both have to be involved, not just one of them.

I met my fiancee on Gaiaonline and we were best friends 1200 miles away for 10 years.

TheMathMajor 26
Yeah, I met my boyfriend on Okcupid, of course it doesn't work out all the time, but online dating is becoming more popular and there are some decent people on dating sites.

I met my boyfriend in a game. Totally wasn't looking for an online relationship before, but choosing to be with him is the best decision I've ever made.

#89, is he an NPC? :P just teasing

My fiancé and I met on a YouTube video. We started out as friends which then led to best friends. We have now been in a relationship for one year and ten months (on the 11th of this month). Our relationship is lovely. Other people also have successful online relationships, so don't you dare say they never work.
DraconicFeline 31
#100, no, no he is not lol. It was on a competitive battling website. Pokèmon Showdown, to be specific...anyway, he started by complimenting my battling style/team-building skills, and it went from there. We're planning to meet up over the summer.
meli1195 31
Why would you grapple OP?? Plus she only met him online, doesn't seem like they were in a serious relationship..
LostMy_Marbles 24
That's a horrible way to find out, sorry to hear OP Condolences to his family

He hasn't called because those long distance charges are gonna cost him an arm and a leg. As if he hasn't lost enough.
AnOriginalName 19
Long distance? I don't think phone companies would even know how to charge a heaven-earth call.
