Today, my roommate in our barracks posted trans hate-speech on Facebook. My choices are to report him and risk ending his military career, confront him and risk him finding out I'm trans, or do nothing and live in fear of him figuring me out. FML

Today, my girlfriend trusted me enough to tell me that she's trans. I have no problem with this, the problem is my sister overheard her. She ran and told our parents, who are also our landlords, so now either I dump the woman I love or we'll both be homeless. FML
Today, I can't look my roommate in the eye because he walked in on me showing my drag friends my new dress on Discord last night. My roommate is really conservative. We used to get along so well too. FML
Today, I'm a closeted trans man, and I feel terrible every time my family calls me "she" or "girl". Help me, I don't know how to come out. FML
Today, I lost a second friend to QAnon conspiracy theories. Worst yet, he started messaging everyone I know on Facebook, telling them I'm a hypocrite who doesn’t “do his research.” Those who don’t now think he was my gay lover believe we were lab partners. What do I do with that? FML
Today, I came out as transgender to my extremely accepting and religious family over Facebook. My feed is currently flooded with plans for my exorcism. FML
Today, I logged onto Facebook to see one of my "friends" had used my account to post a coming-out story. It had comments on it such as "I knew it!" "Finally." and "That explains so much." FML
Today, I was staying over at a friend's house for the weekend while the rest of my family goes to Cuba. Her neighbor started hitting on me. As it turns out, "he" was actually born as a "she", and now I'm apparently a transphobic bitch for not being interested. Two more days to go. FML
Today, I finally opened up to my roommates about when I came out as gay to my parents, and how I was beaten and disowned over it. One roommate saw this as the perfect time to hit on me, since he's also gay and thought I was hot, but wasn't sure if I swung that way. Glad he was so invested in me pouring my guts out. FML
Today, it was a coworker's last day. Over the last 6 months, he has been talking smack about me because he assumed I'd ratted him out for a Facebook post, ranting about our place of employment. I decided to confront him after work to let him know that I didn't do it. He then reported me for harassment to all of my supervisors. FML
Today, while I was out to eat, I was approached by the restaurant manager. He told me that while he respected my personal choices, his patrons didn't feel comfortable with someone who used to be a man using the women's restroom. He thought I was a transsexual. I am a naturally-born female. FML

It's not your duty to protect his career. Reporting him is your duty to your fellow military members, and to refuse to is to dishonor your uniform.

Follow your protocol. If it puts his military career at risk that’s all on him. Military don’t need people like him. You’ll be doing the right thing. Thank you for serving our country.

If you think he has the potential to become violent towards yourself, or other trans people, then you need to report him. Living in fear should never be an option for anyone, and admitting you're trans without having support is going to make you vulnerable to whatever he would consider doing to you.

I don't know if he does. His speech was pretty incendiary, talking about how trans people don't/shouldn't exist and shouldn't be allowed to transition, but wasn't *overtly* violent. It didn't say particularly how he thought we should stop trans people from transitioning, though I can't see how that could be done without violence.

There is no such thing as reporting someone in the military. U would b labeled as a snitch. Plus, nothing will be done because of his post. Article 15? Nope. Freedom of speech baby.

Totally not true. If your wearing the uniform, and your comments go against the UCMJ, your help liable. Different standards. We’ve had a few at my command get put out for this very reason.

Freedom of speech only protects you from the government. The government can't restrict your speech. It doesn't mean you are free from consequences. A job can still legally fire you for what you said and that isn't restricting your freedom of speech.

This sounds fairly straightforward: report him and let him face the consequences of his actions, or reward him for his actions by allowing yourself and others in your community to live in fear and anxiety.
