Today, one of my clients fired me from my cleaning job, all because I had to cancel last minute after I had to drive myself to the hospital with a severe allergic reaction. She screamed at me until I hung up on her. She's my aunt and godmother. FML
Today, at my new job, a coworker offered to help me mop the floors since she wasn't busy. I ended up getting written up by my boss for supposedly being too lazy and making other people finish my work. FML
Today, the cleaning lady left a note that said my room was too dirty to clean. FML
Today, after being a stay-at-home mom and picking up after my kids for the past 15 years, I got a job rejection letter saying I wasn't qualified. It was a housekeeping position. FML
Today, at work, someone shat outside the bathroom door. Not outside the stall, but in the actual hallway. Guess who got fired for refusing to clean it up! I’m a cashier at a tool supply company and the only female employee. Four dudes refused before I did. FML
Today, my boss fired me for causing a "commotion" at work while running the vacuum. FML
Today, despite filling all the parameters for a model employee and being praised by multiple people over the time I was working, I was fired because a client complained to my manager that I didn't seem to know what I was doing. FML
Today, I told my boss I need a scrub brush to properly clean the stairs at my workplace. She gave me an old toothbrush. FML
Today, I got fired. Not because of anything I did, but because my best friend, who'd I'd gotten hired, stood up for herself when both the owner's wife and daughter became disrespectful professionally. She then quit and got a job with a competitor. They started looking at her LinkedIn. Two weeks later, I get canned. FML
Today, I was laid off from my job as a manager. After cleaning out my office, I began clearing my computer. I received an email from HR announcing a job position that opened up. Too bad it was for my job. FML

If the broom is angled, then yeah, there is a right way and a wrong way. But, still, even if OP was holding the broom wrong, not a reason to cancel a contract as long as the contractor was doing the job.

Presumably the client believed that anyone who could hold a broom "incorrectly" wouldn't know how to sweep a floor properly.

I'm not saying this is what happened here, but some people of a certain religion (spiritual belief? idk) believe if you don't sweep the broom in the right direction (right to left, I believe?) that you're inviting...well, I dunno what. They just don't like it.

You have to sweep to the left to sweep evil out your door and since OP is left handed that's exactly what they will have been doing so this is not the reason and that really only counts on certain occasions like Hallowe'en
