Today, my wallet got stolen. I don't have a photo ID to get a temporary debit card, and since I don't have a debit card, I can't go to the DMV to get a new license. FML

Today, my wallet got stolen. I had a bunch of cash, my SS card and my license in it. Now I have to replace everything, only to have to renew my license again when I turn 21 in June. FML
Today, I went to go get a new ID because my wallet was stolen, which had my social security card in it as well. I found out that to get your ID you have to have your social security card, and to get your social security card, you need your ID. FML
Today, I went to the bank to get a temporary debit card, since I lost my wallet a week ago. On my drive across the street from the bank to the DMV, a car slammed into mine at the intersection, nearly totaling my car. The movie theater I went to last week just called and said they'd found my wallet. FML
Today, I received my replacement debit card in the mail after losing my previous one. I've already lost my new one. FML
Today, I misplaced my wallet. Fortunately, I knew exactly where it was. Unfortunately, I had just taken out the only form of picture ID that morning. I couldn't stop the finders from laughing as they saw my fake celebrity entertainment ID while I tried to convince them it was actually my wallet. FML
Today, I finally went to the DMV to replace my lost license. After waiting for almost two hours, I casually rummaged through my purse. Something strange inside the lining caught my eye. It was my license. FML
Today, I canceled my ATM card, because it had been lost. Then I found it. Then I found out I can't reactivate it, because I asked for a replacement card. I'm from CA, and I'm in Mexico with only 20 bucks. FML
Today, my Visa card randomly stopped working. I have no other way of getting money or paying for anything. I was going to buy next week's food tomorrow, but I guess I'll just starve instead. FML
Today, I went to the store to buy some groceries. Several hours later I realize that I can't find my wallet. After looking all over my house and then the store parking lot, I had my credit cards cancelled. On the drive home, I feel something under me. It was my wallet. FML
Today, I left my wallet on top of my car when I filled up with gas. I drove away and didn't realize it until I got home. I went back and found it on the side of the road. Empty of my credit cards, pictures and checks. All that was left was my driver's license. FML

Is a passport okay to use? I remember before I used a passport as an ID when I was younger in school.

A passport is a higher form of ID. It absolutely tops a drivers license. Sadly not everyone knows that.

Yes. If op has a passport, a student id, and a birth certificate that would be enough for a new id. The police report might count as proof too.

The only thing a driver's license counts for that a passport can't stand in for, is driving. You have to have your license in your possession in order to drive in the U.S. though other countries may have more lenient rules.

You can file a police report and that's enough proof for the dmv. At least that's what they allow in NY.

Does the DMV not accept cash? Can't you withdraw money at the bank by answering your security questions and providing your SSN?

I've never had to give the bank my ID as long as I know my account number and SSN. But, all banks have different policies, so OP's bank may require a valid photo ID to withdraw.

I've worked in a bank for 10 years... if you've had your wallet stolen they're going to work with you as much as possible. a good bank will have your photo ID on file.

Can't say I've ever been asked for my ID for a check at the DMV for a replacement ID. Probably because I'm already there to get an ID, and thus they accept the info I have brought them for the ID itself.

Sorry, OP. I don't know how California does it, or your bank, but when my wallet got stolen my bank told me to bring two identification forms. I brought my SS and birth certificate. They used these two things to withdraw money for me and I used that money to get a new I.D. You can also ask someone if you can borrow money? Just a couple suggestions. Good luck!
