Today, my parents informed me that my dad is leaving my mom and moving to Florida from New York tomorrow. I just spent $300 on a new crossbow for his birthday, which is tomorrow, in hopes that he would spend more time with me. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was out and was having a wonderful time. At exactly midnight, I get a call from my father. He's divorcing my mother. He's also going to Florida with his mistress for the weekend. If that wasn't the best news ever, he'd love if I found an apartment to live in ASAP. FML
I don't wanna go
Today, I came home after spending the past two months at summer camp, just for my parents to excitedly announce that I'm going to be spending the next two weeks in Florida with my grandma. We have to leave in literally a couple hours. FML
Today, I found out that my dad has been trying to take money out of my savings account to pay for divorce fees and a hammock. FML
Today, my dad and his girlfriend left for a 10-day vacation. They booked an expensive beach-house. I'm an A grade student and just last month, he stopped paying my school fees because he 'couldn't afford it.' Oh, and he's making me feed the dog while he's away. FML
Today, marks the third time this month my parents came to visit. I moved 5 hours away to get away from them. FML
Today, my dad, who lives hours away, called and told me he was getting married. Today. As in this evening. Guess I'm not invited. FML
Today, my dad told me he's taking the whole family to Disney World, even my step-brother's girlfriend. But not me, because he can't "afford" it. FML
Great gift
Today, two days before my birthday, my parents drove three hours to visit me at school and take me out to lunch. I assumed that it was to celebrate my birthday. They told me they are getting divorced. FML
Today, my dad wants a divorce. I can either stay with my wine-loving mom or move 300 km away with my dad. FML
Today, my parents spent more time, money, and effort on my boyfriend's birthday present than they ever have on any of mine. FML

Although it's a really crappy situation, I'm sure he'll still appreciate your present, and maybe you'll be able to spend more one-on-one time while visiting him in Florida!

Maybe he can have an “accident” with the crossbow and avoid alimony.

Return it and get Dad a card. You are going to need the money more than Dad needs a crossbow. Or keep it for yourself....

Now shoot him in the leg so he wouldn't move out of your place.

I'm kinda curious what age you are. However, if he's willing to ditch you and move to another state at the drop of a hat, I don't think any amount of crossbows will buy his affection. It sounds like he's just not that involved of a father.

That’s what I was thinking. You shouldn’t have to buy anything to begin with; an expensive gift isn’t going to change things unfortunately.

looks like he already got himself a birthday gift

So you have to hunt retirees instead of tourists. I'm sure you can manage.

At least you have a new use for that crossbow.

He can't live for Florida if he's been shot with a crossbow.
