Today, my insomnia wins. I'm too wired and awake to sleep, but too stoned on my sleeping pills to get up and do something productive. FML

I've had similar chronic insomnia since I was about 5. It can really destroy your quality of life since good sleep is the foundation of good health. I don't know if your doctors have just been treating the symptom (insomnia) by giving you sleeping pills, or whether y'all are working at discovering what is causing the insomnia--if the former, you may be benefitted by keeping a symptom diary for a month, including everything you experience (acne? Temperature intolerance? Dry hair/skin/nails? Bowel problems? Thirst? Certain times of day you feel most tired? Body pain? Depression? Etc) and tallying your symptoms to try and narrow down what possible culprits there could be and what additional tests should be run to get some real answers. In the meantime, don't beat yourself up or make yourself even more anxious about your inability to sleep. Do whatever you need to relax, even if sleep doesn't come. Good luck :)

I feel your pain. This happens to me at least three nights a week.

productivity...? never heard of it

Sorry to hear. Feel you, bro.
