Today, my husband and I came clean to his overbearing parents about our private wedding. It started with them accusing him of making rash decisions, and somehow descended into an argument amongst themselves that ended with his mom deciding to divorce his dad. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my parents had a huge fight because my mom found out my dad was cheating on her. They screamed for half an hour. Right in the middle of my wedding. FML
Today, I planned on introducing my fiancé to my parents. After the introductions, and telling him how I hoped our relationship would have the same amount of love and commitment that has lasted my mother and father for 25 years, my parents awkwardly announced their imminent divorce. FML
Today, after much deliberation, I decided to accept my parents' invitation to a family dinner. A half hour after I arrived, all hell broke loose, because my mom's pregnancy test had come back positive, and she was convinced my dad had poked holes in his own condom. FML
No smoke, no fire
Today, a misunderstanding led to me falsely accusing my husband of cheating. We cleared it up and he forgave me and everything, but my parents are still convinced that he cheated, and won't believe me when I say he wasn't. FML
Today, my mom let it slip that she was divorcing my dad. After making me promise to keep it from him and my little sisters, she had me help her with her plans to renovate the house. She intends to kick him out once it's done. FML
Bad dad
Today, my family and my fiancée's family met each other and my worst fear came true. My asshole dad found out my fiancée's dad is a reverend and his first sentence was, "How's the molestation business these days?" It didn't take long before a brawl erupted and we were kicked out. I'm cutting him off for good. FML
Today, my crazily elitist parents were so desperate to get me to dump my fiancé that they threatened to divorce if I didn't. When I told them to go ahead, they bitched me out for being disrespectful. FML
Today, my boyfriend proposed. I was about to call my parents and tell them we're getting married, but they called me first to announce they're getting a divorce. FML
Today, I got into a fight with my mom because she believes that my fiancé is "irresponsible" and "immature". I stormed out and drove back home. There, I walked in on my fiancé and his friends. They were in a heated and almost violent argument over which CSI is the best. The wedding's next month. FML
Today, my dad had a chat with my fiancé, telling him he can do better than me, and to think carefully before going through with our wedding. FML

Well, that escalated quickly.

Feel no guilt, if they were this high strung their relationship probably has been extremely strained and fragile for a very long time.

And considering how it did, I suddenly see exactly why they eloped to get wed in the first place. Crazy, crazy people.... ;P

I can see why you wanted to keep it private.

Why are you thumbing down 13?!! The quote number 1 butchered is from Anchor Man. Ron Burgundy says, "Boy, that escalated quickly." While discussing a previous encounter of a violent midday brawl with the rival KQHS Channel 9 Evening News team.

Ironically, you butchered the joke complaining about someone who butchered the joke.

Which probably is why they wanted to keep the wedding private.

It's funny that you have so little of a life that you remember that much detail from that movie.
Phustercluck 11
Insulting someone personally for correcting your mistake...cool! I'm just wondering, but are you implying that anyone that knows a similar amount of detail about any movie, or other media for that matter, also has no life? Quite bold.

Am I the only one who prefers elevators as their go-to choice for stationary transportation?!

4--- u made the most factual comment. A relationship that falls apart that easily wasnt being held together very well.

On the bright side, this means you probably won't have to see much of them again during life, which is probably for the best.
Phustercluck 11
Now they'll have to visit each parent separately during holidays. That's double the time than if they were still together!

Successfully diverted the situation away from yourselves. Job well done.

Wait, what? How did that even happen?

^ I guess addition signs don't show up...? Well, insert one between stupid and drama, please.

It was not your fault, if they decided on divorce this easily then it was bound to happen sooner or later. It sounds like they've had some bad relationship problems for a while now.

This sounds like a plot for a new comedy movie. You need to try and get the parents back together again.

How about Stepbrothers?
