Today, my friend invited me to go on vacation with her and friends, saying we would all share a suite. I booked my flight. The trip is almost here and she now tells me there is no room for me and I have to get my own room. This is the second time she has done this. FML

OP here. Just to clarify a little, I have traveled with her multiple times and she has only done this once before. That is why I didn't question anything. Anyway, we have since talked it through and have worked everything out. I am still going and sharing her room.

I thinks this is a sign not to book trips with her anymore.

I would demand that she tell me why she didn't notice this before now or say anything until the last moment. One time, alright, mistakes happen. Twice? Either they're lying and don't want you in the room, or her planning skills are way beyond the mile marker we can call "shitty". I agree with someone else in the comments who said bring an air mattress and stay in the room. You shouldn't have to shell out an additional $500+ for a room when you were invited under the intent of splitting costs for a room. I also would cut ties with this 'friend'. She seems really inconsiderate. At the very least I wouldn't go on vacation with her ever again.

Next time, invite her to your party and tell her at the last minute that it's going to be at her place... where is the food?

You are probably "that" friend in the group and no one wants to say anything to you.

The kind of outcast you are describing might accidentally get invited to CASUAL social gatherings because people are too chicken to say anything (or because they know they want to exclude this person for purely shallow reasons). But no one ACCIDENTALLY invites an unwanted guest to a destination vacation that requires flights and hotel bookings. OP's friend is just a flaky, inconsiderate ass. She screwed up and decided that OP should deal with the resulting burden. And she likely chose OP to be screwed because she's already gotten away with it once and knows she can just take advantage of OP again.

Dont go with her again, or if you do know to book your room alone don't depend on her. Seems like she is only doing things when its convenient to her.

If she was a REAL FRIEND of yours then she would say to be fair then you two can get a room together so you won't be left out.

I think you are better off without that kind of person that claims to be your friend. Cut ties with that one.
