Today, my fiance told me that he no longer loves me, that he still has feelings for an ex. The wedding is off and he needs the ring back to give to the right woman. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Doomed
Today, my fiancée handed me her engagement ring back and told me she felt like she's pressuring me into marriage, so to make me feel better about it we’re no longer engaged. On top of this, I found out she’s started talking to her ex again. FML
Today, my fiancé told me he didn't have the money to make payments on my engagement ring and that I either have to return it, or make the payments myself. Now we aren't engaged any more, and are "dating." FML
Fixed it
Today, my fiance finally began seeing a therapist, after months of my begging him to. The therapist convinced him that he and I had "irreconcilable differences" so now he's asked for the ring back. FML
Today, I found out that my engagement ring was actually my husband's ex-fiancée's. FML
Not the one
Today, an ex-boyfriend of mine came to the jewelry store I work at to pick out an engagement ring for his girlfriend. The same guy who just a few months earlier ended our 8-year relationship because I wanted marriage and he didn't. FML
Damage
Today, my now apparently ex-fiance let me know our engagement was off by throwing my ring in the trash. No words, just throwing it away. I always slept without it, to avoid damaging it. Guess I'm single again. FML
Who asked you?
Today, my fiancée's ex sent me screenshots of their conversation. In it, he told her how badly he’d wanted to marry her, what a great life he'd have given her, and what a huge mistake she'd made by letting him get away. My ring, our house even our pets should’ve been hers. Gee, thanks for settling. FML
Today, after months of arguing and conflict, I broke up wIth my fiancé. Or at least, I tried to. The wedding's off, but only until he can convince me to want to marry him again. FML
Hot headed
Today, during an argument with my fiancé, I threw my engagement ring on the ground. The center stone broke off. Now he's couch surfing, and has sworn that he won't marry me unless I can find the stone. One stupid moment might actually ruin my life. FML
Today, at our wedding, instead of saying "I do", my fiancé paused before saying, "I can't do this", stepped down from the altar and proposed to my maid of honor. When she obviously refused, he ran from the venue bawling. He's not returning my calls. FML

Re #6: Yeah, but she isn't the one who is breaking the promise to get married! He did! I'm a law student, and there is no consensus amongst courts as to what to do when an engagement is broken off. Some jurisdictions say that no matter what, the man gets the ring back since he bought it. Others say the one who didn't break off the engagement, is the one who keeps the ring, since it was a gift conditioned on a marriage occurring. Other courts say it's an inter vivos gift made to the woman and doesn't have to be returned. I say do the research and find out what your jurisdiction says. If they say you can keep the ring, I say screw him and keep it/pawn it. Furthermore, I believe the Emily Post approach is if you are a girl who breaks off an engagement, you return the ring. If he breaks it off, you keep the ring. Why make his life any easier? Sell the damn thing and treat yourself to a vacation so you can forget that loser. With time, you'll see he did you a huge favor that he revealed his true nature now, instead of down the line. I wish you the best of luck. God bless.

if you can, find out who the ex is, and ask her to give it to him as a favor. Hahaha.

That's just depressing. I dont' come here to be depressed. However, I'm in the school of thinking that at least he didn't lie to you, and marry you while feeling that way for someone else. Would you have felt better if you'd been together a year and gotten pregnant? Oh, but keep the ring - that's just taking the piss :P

Sorry he turned out to be such an ass! I'm totally with #51 and #52! If you won't get into trouble with the law, pawn it. If you're not strapped for cash and can do it, stuff it away for a (different) rainy day. Good luck, hon!

I'd tell the other woman that he gave her a ring that he had originally proposed to you with. She would be none too happy. I remember when a sort of friend of mine was dating my ex, and she showed me these letters he had written her, and they were carbon copies of what he'd written me! NOT happy.

the ring was conditional upon marriage but because you were not the one to break the engagement most courts would say that you get to keep the ring. if you think of it in terms of a contract he breached the contract and you dont have to give it back. I would pawn it and go on a vacation. Have a good time and meet someone cute. he'll be a distant memory when you an Jose Quervo are together.

Very sorry about that. You will surely find another man. One who actually loves YOU.
