Today, my drinking habit hit a new low when I waited almost an hour to go to the liquor store after it opened because I didn't want to seem desperate. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I realized that my alcoholism has gotten so bad that I rotate liquor stores so the clerks don't think bad about me. FML
Today, I had to admit that I'm an alcoholic when I spent my last dollar bills on Southern Comfort instead of tampons. FML
Boozehound
Today, I was refused employment at a liquor store. Their reason? I'm a regular customer and they're afraid I'll drink all their profits. FML
Today, I walked into a liquor store and thought about inquiring for a job application. After seeing the cashier, I thought about inquiring if she was single. After accidentally breaking three bottles of liquor, I didn't do either. I left the store, still single and unemployed. FML
Today, I bought a small bottle of liquor to share with my husband to celebrate our move. It took three hours at the store as the cashier, manager, GM, and a police officer checked my ID believing it was fake. I'm 25. FML
Today, after being constipated a few days, I used the restroom at a bar. It took a loooong time before I got out. As I went to exit the bar, only the employees were still there, waiting for me because they had closed 30 minutes ago. FML
Frustration
Today, I came home from a nine-hour shift and all I want is to sit down with a glass of Baileys. I can't find the key to the liquor cabinet. FML
Denial
Today, I had a mumbled conversation with myself in a supermarket aisle about whether or not to buy a bottle of bourbon. Nothing screams "pathetic loser" like an alcoholic in denial having a debate with himself out loud near strangers. FML
Today, I went to the grocery store to stock up on booze for the weekend. After the cashier commented on the size my purchase, I claimed to be hosting a dinner party tonight. I'm not. FML
Lightweight
Today, I went out for drinks for the first since I stopped breastfeeding. I underestimated how low my tolerance had become and how strong the drinks were. My husband was stopped by two bouncers while trying to carry me to the car. They thought he'd drugged me. FML

Get help now before it's too late.

"There she is again. She's just been standing there for an hour, staring." "Should we do something?" "Nah, she can't be that desperate. Give her another hour."

I've been there, friend. You don't have to carry on like this. Go a referral to rehab and also go to AA. I went and am now 2 years sober and life is brilliant! My only regret is waiting so long til I went. You can stop drinking and life will be so much better.

How does OP deserve it? No one deserves it, they need to get help and they're realizing it. People are supposed to actually be helpful when people take the first step to admitting they have a problem.

I understand. I have almost a year of sobriety for alcohol. It's never too late or too soon to get help. I'm sure you can do it :) You are stronger then you think! Good luck!! :)

OP, I'm really sorry to hear that you're struggling with a drinking problem. I know I'm only repeating what other people have said, but please, do your best to seek help NOW. The longer you put it off the harder it will become. My father is an abusive alcoholic. The difference in his personality between when he drinks and when is sober is astounding; before the alcoholism I would have described him as kind, generous, and loving. Now, I can only view him as a hateful, aggressive, selfish, and abusive piece of [insert choice swearword here]. Like Dr Jedkyll and Mr Hyde. There is also only so much the people who love you will probably take. I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but I have not exactly changed for the better since I have lived with him in this condition. I have become a bitter, unforgiving person. I no longer view him as my father and I don't see that changing anytime soon if at all. Alcoholism can take EVERYTHING from you. Your job, your licence, your family, your friends, your sanity, and eventually probably your life too. I do not know to what extent you have a drinking problem, but if you yourself think you have a problem, PLEASE consider looking into a support system, such as AA, and/or a psychologist. Apologies for the long post/rant; I spent last night watching ambulance people needing to take my father to the hospital while comforting my mother and am pretty sensitive about this topic. For the sake of yourself and the sake of the people you care about and who care about you, please do your best to take care of yourself, OP. I wish you all the best.

Get help before you are waiting at the door for them to open because your need for it overrides your caring about what they think.

You definitely need to get help! Being able to admit that you have a problem is the first step and you've obviously admitted that. Get help, keep your head up, stay strong and take any helpful support you can get.
