Today, my dentist pulled the wrong tooth. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to the dentist to get a tooth pulled. When I woke up I found out they pulled the wrong one. FML
Today, I got a root canal. It wouldn't have been that bad if the dentist hadn't performed it on the wrong tooth. FML
Today, on my way to the dentist, I got rear ended by my own dentist. FML
No pain, no gain
Today, I went to the dentist to get a cavity filled. The numbing medication didn't work, so I felt everything. I was in so much pain that I accidentally bit down on the dentist's finger, causing him to yell in agony. Now, I have to find a new dentist. FML
Snap!
Today, I was flossing my teeth, which I do only to not get yelled at (chewed out?) by my dentist. Dentist I’ll now be seeing later today because the floss broke off a corner of one of my molars. FML
Today, the dentist sneezed in my mouth. FML
Today, I met my new dentist. His teeth are worse than mine. FML
Oops
Today, I went to the dentist to have two cavities filled. I hate going to the dentist. After he'd started drilling, I heard a "clunk" noise followed by an "Oops." My dentist had cut my tooth in half. Now I have to get surgery to have the tooth extracted. FML
Bruxism
Today, after waking up from a bad migraine which caused my teeth to clench, I found out that I broke a molar. A dentist told me it split down to the bone, so I need root canal and an extended crown. Then they told me the tooth below had also broke and has to be pulled. FML
The whole tooth and nothing but the tooth
Today, I had my wisdom teeth pulled. The local anesthesia worked on three of the four teeth. I found out about the last tooth when the dentist was mid-yank. FML

This is where we get off FML, and call up the attorney. "Accidentally" pulled out the wrong tooth? Fishy.

A tooth for a tooth. It's the only answer.

I have had this happen. In my case I had multiple teeth together that needed to be pulled and the one he was supposed to remove was a broken one that was causing a lot of pain. We discussed it and when he got in he pulled the one next to it (It was going to go eventually). When I realized what tooth he pulled (shortly after the numbing agent wore off) we had a chat to find out why it still hurt so bad, he then pulled the correct tooth without charging for it. It was an innocent mistake for me so I wasn't mad.

I'm in this industry and, sorry folks, that happens a lot more than you'd think. A good assistant should have spotted the mistake before the dentist started prepping to pull. But dentists are very narcissistic and hate to be told they are wrong. Most of them anyway. OP, you definitely shouldn't have been charged. And you are one of the very few patients that get the truth in a situation like this. The patient is usually told the dentist "found something needing treatment" with the tooth they got wrong. They will always try to cover their asses...
