Today, my boyfriend told me that he is homophobic. This wouldn't be such a big deal, if my mother wasn't a lesbian. He doesn't know this yet, and I'm afraid to tell him. FML

Today, I told my mom I was with my female friend last night, because I wasn't ready to tell her about my new boyfriend. I didn't realize he gave me a hickey and now my whole family thinks I'm a lesbian. They won't stop making fun of me. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me that he was gay and that he is in love with my younger brother. FML
Today, my mom called me into the living room to say that she had something important to tell me. She then explained how she and my dad had "talked things over" and wanted me to know that they accept me and love me no matter what. Apparently my mom thinks I'm lesbian. I'm not. FML
Today, at 18, I finally told my mom I was gay. She spent the rest of the day bringing up my "future wife" at every possible chance she had. FML
Today, I introduced my girlfriend to my parents. My mother turned to me and said, "Wait you're actually gay? I thought you were just saying that to piss off your father." I came out to her when I was 16, and have confided in her about my past relationships. FML
Today, I found the courage to tell my parents about my boyfriend. They simply reacted by lecturing me about how much he'll ruin my life, and how much they don't like him. They haven't met him yet. FML
Today, I introduced my girlfriend to my family for the first time. My mother's immediate reaction was, "We didn't know you were gay!" No mom, she really is a girl. FML
Today, my neighbor confessed to me that he was homophobic and regrets that his family doesn't know it. He spent fifteen minutes explaining how much he would hate to have a gay child. I spent two hours last night convincing his son that it was the right thing to tell his family he was gay. FML
Today, I told my mom that I’m a lesbian. She was fine with it, supported me 100%, and it was a huge relief, until she followed up with, “Until you find a husband, then you’ll obviously have to stop all that.” The reason I even told her is because my girlfriend just proposed to me, and we’re engaged. FML
Today, my boyfriend came over. My mom told him the story about the time she caught me having sex with my ex-boyfriend. My ex is his best friend. FML

Homophobia, more often than not isn't a phobia in the sense of extreme fear. I'm sure there are cases, just like there's cases of people fearing their own voice, but they're rarely more than hatred. Think of the way oil is hydrophobic, while other chemicals are hydrphillic. It's more of a "disdain", to put it in more humanized terms, of homosexuality, than an actual fear.. A rejection, if you prefer.

Yeah it's completely nonsensical. It's like they think they're gonna catch "the gay" or something. I had a homophobic coworker once discover I'm Bi by looking through my texts w/out me knowing. He tried getting me fired on the grounds of sexual harassment, but he got the axe instead for invasion of privacy lmao.

If he shows no signs of willing to grow as a person and accept your mom, then DTMFA. You deserve better than that. As for most of you saying "all straight guys like lesbians"...straight guys typically like the girl/girl scenes they see in ****, which has little to do with real-life lesbians.
