Today, my boss wrote me up for saying "pissed" in front of a client. This is the same boss who nearly pissed himself laughing when a client made an extremely off-color Holocaust joke a few weeks ago, in front of half the department. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boss suspended me for laughing too hard at my desk and causing a big scene in front of our customers. I was laughing because he'd forwarded me a hilarious email. He was practically smirking as he handed me my official warning. FML
Mr Boss Man
Today, my boss threatened to write me up, after I made a slightly rude joke about a coworker everyone hates. A while later, a colleague told me the same joke. Turns out my boss had gone around telling it to everyone else and taking all the credit. FML
Today, my boss fired me because of the way I laugh. Apparently it reminds him too much of his ex-wife's laugh. I'm a guy. FML
Today, my boss bitched me out for a customer complaint. The complaint was me not laughing at the customer's joke of me asking for his ID and him saying no. I'm sorry, I've been getting this "joke" a least twice a day since I started working here two years ago. FML
That backfired
Today, I was fired for telling a customer's kid to shut his mouth. As revenge, I sent the CEO a picture I acquired months ago of my boss drunkenly pissing on a cow. He wrote that it was the funniest thing he had ever seen, and that I am "clearly an insufferable killjoy; a total liability to the company." FML
Bad timing
Today, I was at a big meeting at work. The CEO was reaming the hell out of us for our recent poor profits, when I accidentally let rip a vile fart. I was then subjected to a 10 minute tirade of abuse for "trying to be a funny man", and told that whatever small chance I had for a promotion is now gone. FML
Nice to know
Today, my boss mistakenly drunk-texted me and was talking shit about me. FML
Today, my boss told me I wasn't getting the promotion I'd been angling for. I was so pissed off, I ranted to a coworker about it over lunch. Turns out my boss was just testing how I dealt with rejection before making his final decision. He overheard my rant and me calling him a Nazi bitch. FML
Today, I found out my boss likes to shit talk about me when I'm not around. The best part is that I don't know what I've done to piss him off. FML
Today, my boss fired me because I corrected him after he misspoke during a meeting. FML

Were you telling that exact story when using the term?
trucker2 33
The client made the joke... Not your boss... Always be professional in the workplace
hannah_dl 11
Maybe it's just me, but what the boss did is easily 100 times more unprofessional and disgusting, regardless of who said what.

No saying I disagree

Definitely stupid to write up the OP, especially without some kind of verbal warning, and if the client didn't complain. But there is a difference between a client making a joke, and an employee, so you always need to know your workplace standards. For all we know the boss faked laughed at the joke, but the company really needs the business. It just sucks and you move on.

Laughing at a racial joke as boss of a business is highly unprofessional #8, regardless of who said the joke. People get offended and when they see the owner or manager or boss laughing at such a thing, then that hurts business because who would go to a business that thinks the Holocaust was funny? You might want to rethink professionalism #8.

I get that people get offended, but finding Holocaust jokes funny does not mean you find the Holocaust funny. Just the joke itself.

You don't know how jokes work, do you, 41.

What happens when you get written up on a job?
mattrd_fml 31
a write up is a tangible warning. normally if you get three, you are fired.
InfiniteSunshine 32
Depends on the employer, but it's usually some kind of punishment. Written up is a written and usually verbal warning, where your boss scolds and talks to you about what you did wrong, and there can be some kind of penalty that goes along with it. If you get enough, you can eventually get fired for it. My work has a 3 strike rule, 1st is just a written note, 2nd you're closely monitored and you have to do something to make up for the offence, 3rd you're terminated.

"Pissed" might be a little crass, but is it really a cuss word?
19990231 29
Although I agree it is not a cuss word, it is still unprofessional in front of a client.
kingdomgirl94 29
If you'd be pissed at your five year old for saying it, you probably shouldn't say it to a client.
meatloaf11 23
Well what was the joke?
guesswhatlifesux 14
Personally, I'm offended that you said pissed in this FML.

Guess what? Life sucks. Get over it.

Do you need a safe space because words hurt too?
LivToFail 28
Erm, I don't mean to be rude but I do believe that this man was trying to make a joke.
