Today, in an attempt to keep my valuables safe, I snatched my PlayStation 4 controller from the hands of my 4-year-old nephew. Not knowing that it was connected, I ultimately yanked the PlayStation and the HD Flatscreen flat on their faces. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, in an attempt to get my son to stop playing Call of Duty, I threw his Xbox controller out the window. He was so desperate, he followed it. His bedroom is on the second floor. My son has 3 broken ribs, and no future. FML
Today, my four year old got mad that he couldn't find his favorite character on the Wii. So, he decided to smash the Wii remote into my $700 LCD TV, shattering the screen. That was the only TV in the house, and the $80 service plan I bought doesn't cover accidental damage. FML
Today, I was babysitting a couple of kids. I'd spent time with them before, so I brought my video game console to play with them. I forgot to take it home with me. They soon sold it to another kid for $10. FML
Today, I discovered that my little brother sold my PS2, 3 and 4 along with all of my games in exchange for credits to use in Fortnite. I've had some of that stuff since before he was born. FML
Today, I come home to find my nephew holding pieces of my new $3,500 Sony Video Camera. He told me he threw it out the window because it was a portal for aliens. FML
Today, I took my new laptop into my house from my car, thinking it would be a too much of a target for kids grabbing it. I came home tonight to find my door kicked in, my laptop gone and my TV ripped from the wall. FML
Today, while shopping, my six-year-old son threw a tantrum because I wouldn't buy him a video game. I ended up having to grab his arm and leave the store. He screamed that I was kidnapping him, at which point I was socked in the face and pinned to the floor by three bystanders. FML
Today, I woke up to my Playstation 3 and my laptop missing and window open. My dad faked a robbery to see me freak out. FML
Today, I smacked my kid on top of the head for spinning the display rack while I was looking at greeting cards. It wasn't until he dramatically screamed and dropped to the floor wailing that I realized he wasn't my daughter. FML
Sorry Pat
Today, I went shopping with my two sons and my wife. We got separated after a while, and I spotted my son in the video game section of the store. I snuck up behind him and playfully slapped him on the back of the head. The kid turned around and it wasn't my son. His mom was none to happy. FML

Either you yanked it much harder than was warranted, seeing as how your tv fell as well, or you have a ridiculously short HDMI cable.

I think you need to reevaluate what you consider 'valuables'.

Opa!

Opa is more commonly grandpa in German (and maybe others Germanic language..I call3d one of my grandpa's Opa actually and he was eastern European so opa might just be used in certain parts of Europe a lot because idk). Just so you know. Just so you know, #2. Though there is a word like opala or something like that that means oops (my opa whom spoke multiple European languages said it a lot). In Greek, I think opa means something like "cheers"? but don't quote me that. The more you know? idk.

Seen the prices for Consoles and HD TV's? They are extremely expensive and valuable
EternalDew 1
Why? He was clearly able to rip the tv out of the wall. So the child may have been able to also. I'd consider a console and a tv valuable.

You wouldn't consider 1000+ dollar equipment 'valuable'?

I started to laugh because I thought you meant the PS hit the kid in the face, but then I realized you meant the TV and PS fell. Sucks, man.

Probably shouldn't admit that you find the thought of people hitting children funny. Just a thought.

Meh. I would have found it funny if he'd yanked the cord and hit HIMSELF in the face with the PS too. I'm an equal opportunity sadist. No shame.

Out of curiosity, how did you think yanking something out of a four-year-old's hands was going to go? Because in my experience, it was going to involve sobbing, kicking, grabbing for it back, and a generally miserable time.

I get that it's your nephew not your kid but it's not rocket science that you redirect kids away from what they shouldn't have (but isn't dangerous), not try to snatch it out of their hands.

You kind of deserved this. Instead of instantly ripping things out of their hands, redirect their attention or tell them no. They're four, not four months. So, unless they have some sort of disability, they should understand no. Or don't put things out when they visit that they will want to play with.
