Today, I wrote the most beautiful college application essay ever, ten minutes before the online deadline. Instead of clicking "submit", I clicked the button next to it that said "return". The entire essay vanished into internet wasteland. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Genius, huh?
Today, after pulling an all-nighter on an essay, I submitted it one minute before the deadline and felt like a genius. Later, I reopened the file and discovered I'd uploaded the rough draft instead of the final version. The last line ended with “fix this later,” which was not my finest academic work. FML
FIXED
Today, I pulled an all-nighter to finish an essay. I submitted it one minute before the deadline. Later, I opened the file to double-check and realized I'd uploaded my rough draft, containing notes like “THIS PART MAKES NO SENSE, FIX LATER.” The professor then replied, “I agree with your assessments.” FML
Today, I went to check my grade, which was posted for an essay for my comp 1 class. I got a zero. I was devastated only to find out I never actually clicked the submit document button. My grade dropped 20 points. FML
Today, after meticulously rereading my application, merging references, budgets, academic transcripts and itineraries for an amazing scholarship, I clicked submit, only to remember that the system was on Daylight Savings time, which we don't have in my state! I missed out on $2,500 by 3 minutes. FML
Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!
Today, I was writing an essay while sleep-deprived. In between actually writing, I started typing my thoughts. It was only after I’d submitted the essay that I realized that I hadn’t deleted the random words. My teacher can see my early-morning rambling about potatoes. I have no way to delete it. FML
Today, I mailed out a college application that is going to another country. I paid $250 for the application and $11 for shipping. I just realized that I forgot to sign the bottom of the application. FML
Close, but no cigar
Today, after submitting my college application, I noticed that I mistyped "math enthusiast" as "meth enthusiast". FML
Today, after submitting a 500-word essay to a writing contest, I found out that I lost to someone who wrote 3 sentences. FML
Today, I borrowed my dad's laptop to type an essay. While I was saving it, I noticed some curious looking files and I opened them. They were rejection letters from all the colleges I had applied to. My dad had been forging them so he wouldn't have to pay for my tuition bills. FML
Roommates from hell
Today, I was taking a final test online that would account for 65% of my final grade, for which I'd worked extremely hard. I had one submission for the test, and my roommate thought it would be funny to click the "Submit All" Button while I was getting a glass of water. I got a 13%. FML

ydi for not taking the proper time to write the application. And for writing it in the browser. and for not turning it in earlier.

agreed. most people have the common sense to type it into a word document and then copy/paste it onto the online box. and really, you should have been revising it at least the day before instead of turning in a first draft ten minutes before the deadline. somehow i doubt the essay was that good and whether or not you really would have gotten into that college.

It's usually enough to just copy it to the clipboard—that's what I do, when I write something in a browser.

YDI for waiting until ten minutes before it was due. Also, it probably sucked because you just wrote it straight up and didn't proofread or revise or work on it. Fail.

YDI for composing your essay in the edit box. Next time you'll know to do it in a word processor and copy it in.

Did it not prompt you with something like "Are you sure you want to leave this page. You have entered text and it will be lost"? And if you wrote it at the last minute, it probably would've been turned down anyway.

why did you wait until ten minutes before the deadline?? i would've definitely been doing the essay on word, and then just copied and pasted it onto the application....... dumbbb both YDI and FYL.

So you want pity for putting off your college applications until the last minute? Sorry, doesn't work that way. That's what you get.
