Today, as I was shampooing my hair in the shower, the power went out. Since my house has well water, no power means no water. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I woke up to find my power was out. After taking a shower in the dark and being unable to make myself lunch, my power came on two minutes before I had to leave for school. FML
Soap opera
Today, the water cut out while I was showering, covered in soap and shampoo. I had to rinse with freezing cold drinking water from the fridge. As soon as I'd dried off, the water supply got restored. FML
Oddly specific insomnia
Today, the power went out. Thankfully, it was early in the morning so I should've been able to sleep through it. Then I realized I have an impossible time sleeping during power outages. FML
Fire!
Today, I decided to lighten my hair. I applied the dye and waited 20 minutes. When I went to wash the dye out, the water wouldn't turn on. After my head started to burn, I called the landlord in a panic. Turns out there was a water main break and the entire city block doesn't have water. FML
Today, I learned that when the power goes out at my house, my family thinks you can no longer flush the toilet. FML
Damp, dark night
Today, I'm staying in a hotel. The power went out while I was having a shower. So I waited for it to come back on, until an announcement came over the fire alarm, "Due to generating failure, the power will be off for the rest of the night. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and have a good night." FML
Today, I was washing my hair in the shower when the water went ice cold. It's 20 degrees outside and we have soft water which takes a longer time to wash away soap. FML
Good times, bad times
Today, I'm stuck at home waiting on a plumber to come fix the flooding in my basement. The flooding happens when any sink, shower, or toilet in the house is used. Today is also the day that I started my period. Without water. FML
Zedonging intensifies
Today, I went downstairs to complain to my landlady that there was no water when I was trying to wash my hair. To which she replied, "No, of course there is water, it's just all going into my swimming pool." FML
Today, I had a planned 12-hour power cut for maintenance work, which I'd forgot all about. In need of a shower before work, I spent 45 minutes boiling pots of water on the stove to take a lukewarm, 6-inch deep bath, before realizing my water heater runs on natural gas and was working fine. FML

Generators are a big investment if you are in an area that doesn't often lose power it's not likely that you have one.

At least the lights went out, too, so no one can see how ridiculous you look with dried shampoo in your hair. Silver lining?

I feel your pain OP, I live in a 1986 Cheiftan Winnebago RV, which means no water, ever! Count your blessings, though, at least its not a regular occurrence. (I still manage to bathe regularly btw for those who .may he concerned and/or disgusted XD lol)

We live on well water, and if a generator is out of your budget, I'd highly recommend storing at least a few gallons of water if you have the space. We do and it really made a difference when a storm came through and knocked out the power for a few days!

Sounds like your water tank is waterlogged. The well tank is supposed to have some air at the top to allow the tank to more efficiently store water. But over time the air tends to dissolve in the water. That's why it has an air valve at the top to allow you to add air. If the tank were not waterlogged you would have got several gallons of water out after the power went off. Biggest issue with a waterlogged tank is that the well pump motor runs much more often but for shorter periods which can make it wear out sooner. I grew up in the country and we all had wells and pumps and water tanks. Occasional my dad or granddad would have to pump in some air into the tank while running a few gallons of water out with the pump off.
