Today, I was working customer service at a large grocery store. I recently got a small, tasteful septum piercing that is barely visible. As I greeted a customer, she began to gag, held out her hand as though she was fending me off, and said, "I can't. Your nose ring makes me sick." FML

Today, I was told I can’t wear a nose ring at my new job because several customers "don’t like it." It’s a very small nose ring and the job is a shack that serves food through a window. FML
Today, at work, a customer told me how unprofessional my piercing made me look, and insisted that someone else wait on his table. It's not a piercing, it's a mole. FML
Today, I was adjusting my nose piercing from the inside. My mother saw and thought I was picking my nose, so she slapped my hand away, tearing my nose ring out in the process. FML
Today, I was excited about showing everyone at work my new piercing. It's in an interesting place in my ear, and it's not that common. Before I had the chance to tell anyone about it, someone asked, "Are you wearing a hearing aid?" FML
Today, I got my septum piercing stuck in a bag of cinnamon pine cones at Target. My boyfriend was wearing a red shirt with khaki pants, so all the other shoppers probably thought I'd had to call a Target employee over to "cut" me out of the bag. FML
Today, while working in my pawn shop, I was showing jewelry to a distinguished lady. I had to fart. I tried to wait. It was too much, so I let it slip silently. As she handled a $2000 necklace, I realized that the 2-foot counter between us would never save her from the foul poisonous cloud that had formed. She realized it too. FML
Today, I was at a job interview at McDonalds. All was going well until the manager told me that I'd have to remove the piercing that I have on my eyebrow. I didn't think that my mole would be so confusing. FML
Today, I was threatened with suspension from school because of my nose piercing. I had to explain that it's actually a pimple. FML
Today, I went on a job interview. The interviewer said it all went well, but he can't hire me because I've got a nose piercing, and that type of "image" isn't the kind they're looking for in their employees. This is the guy who had a full sleeve tattoo. FML
Today, I swallowed the piercing that I had bought for my tongue yesterday. FML

Wow, that customer was a bitch. I work in retail too so I feel this. A septum piercing may not be for everyone, but if OP likes it and it's not against the rules at work, it's her choice! I personally wouldn't get one myself but I think they do look really cute on some people.

I can't even handle the amount of hate that OP is getting. If her workplace allows it and it looks tasteful on her, which it absolutely can, it's nobody's business. I don't walk up and insult anybody ever, even if I do think they look ugly. That's purely hateful, just like these comments.

YDI thats what you get for having a nose ring.... its unprofessional and jovial and when you get a "real" job your are most likely going to have to get rid of it anyway. Waste of money.

Not really. Septum rings are very easy to hide as you can just flip them around. Or, once it's been in for a while, you can just take it out while you're on the job. Also perhaps the job OP wants doesn't have a no piercings policy.

IMO, septum piercings are gross period. But it is your body to whatever you want to. That was very rude on her part. She doesn't have to like it, but that doesn't excuse being a bitch, she should have just kept her opinion to herself.
