Today, I was working as a counsellor at a special needs camp when one of the parents came up to my friend and asked her what my disorder was. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Narcissist Mom
Today, my coworker was going on and on about how her son was nice and got good grades but that she needed to find him a therapist because he's too shy in class, and how she didn't want her friends to think badly of her. She's a counselor. I sat in silence for almost an hour, because all I could think was, "WTF? Poor kid." FML
Great first impression
Today, I finally spoke to a counsellor about my depression. As soon as the session started, I became so anxious that I could barely speak. Once the Zoom call was finished, I got the distinct impression that she thought I was mentally disabled. FML
People never learn
Today, I was made fun of at work by my mom and my supervisor. I work at a kids' anti-bullying camp. FML
Special kind of not funny
Today, my mom introduced me to everyone we met as her "special needs child." They all seemed to believe her. FML
Support system error
Today, I was invited to a counseling group for people with emotional problems. I brought the permission slip home for my mom to sign, only for her to accuse me of being a hypochondriacal, lazy, selfish bitch. And my friends wonder why I have problems. FML
Next!
Today, while I was explaining my troubles to my therapist, he asked me, "And don't you have someone you can tell all that?" FML
Today, my therapist clapped for me when I told her I'd made a friend. FML
Today, my mom read my diary. Then she frantically booked me an appointment with a psychiatrist. FML
Not ED for me
Today, I asked my school counselor in strict confidence for advice on how to help a friend of mine, who has bulimia. When I got home, I found out that "someone" had called my parents and told them that I'm bulimic. They won't believe the truth. FML
Today, I went to therapy. I started talking about my childhood and my life. By the time the session was over my therapist was crying. FML

Well, it would be worse if she told your friend, "It's nice that there's a place to help treat people like her *points to OP*. Obviously she would have difficulty functioning with the rest of society. Here these people don't have to worry about being ridiculed by the ignorant."

So? She didn't know. You were at a special needs camp but didn't expect people to think that the majority of the people there had special needs. How was she supposed to know you weren't one of them?

Maybe it's because she found it hard to believe you had special needs. Probably a compliment.
