Today, I was waitressing when a man sat at my table with soda from somewhere else. Drinks are half the profit for restaurants. There is a strict policy that you have to charge for carry-in drinks. I told him this, he yelled at me so I told him I was doing my job. I got fired, for doing my job. FML

That sucks. I can't believe you got fired for following company policy.

I work in retail, so I know your pain when you have a horrible customer. They threaten you and try to make you feel like a peasant. All you have to do is wait until your shift ends to do something. Nothing says "owned" better than a flat tire.

sue them for firing you, when you did nothing wrong.

#6, maybe you need some more school. Your grammar is fail. You're does not equal your. fail

as a waitress... i don't see how you only got fired for this. My restaurant has the same policy but if a guest argues with us over it, we get a manager and they will kick them out. ..maybe you were rude about it?

How the hell is that fair? You should sue them! The guy and the resturaunt!

WTF? This is either poor management or bullshit. If you live in America I suggest taking this up with someone over your manager's head. With the way the economy is, you probably need that job.

I'm pretty sure that you can legally sue

wrongful dismissal.

In case you worked at some food-chain restaurant write a complaint to the higher management that you got fired inappropriately by defending the company's policy and demand your ex-manager's job because you can do it better. There's nothing you can loose - make your revenge sweet.
