Today, I was told I need two root canals. This is because my previous dentist did such a bad job on one of my teeth that the decay went through and transferred to its neighbor. FML

Today, I had an appointment with my dentist to check for cavities. He told me that most of my teeth have cavities, and that I may need a root canal. In fact, I ended up actually getting a painful root canal. FML
Today, after two root canal procedures done on the same tooth in last two years, the tooth had been acting up for a few days, so I went in to get it checked. Turns out, it got infected AGAIN and I gotta get a THIRD root canal done on the same tooth. FML
Today, I got a root canal. It wouldn't have been that bad if the dentist hadn't performed it on the wrong tooth. FML
Today, after waking up from a bad migraine which caused my teeth to clench, I found out that I broke a molar. A dentist told me it split down to the bone, so I need root canal and an extended crown. Then they told me the tooth below had also broke and has to be pulled. FML
Today, I went to my new dentist and before he started looking at my teeth, I told him my previous dentist had never found a single thing wrong with my teeth. After looking around, he chuckled humourlessly and called my last dentist idiotic. I now have a $580 bill and a root canal next week. FML
Today, it was the fourth time I've had major dental work done, because my dentist messed up my root canal. After almost a dozen needles, three missed work days, over $1,000, and 2 broken tools, I only have a tiny, barely-successful filling to show for it. FML
Today, at the dentist, I was just supposed to get three small cavities filled. I walked out with a referral slip for the endodontist. Hello, root canal. Fuck you, genetics. FML
Today, I went to the dentist to have two cavities filled. I hate going to the dentist. After he'd started drilling, I heard a "clunk" noise followed by an "Oops." My dentist had cut my tooth in half. Now I have to get surgery to have the tooth extracted. FML
Today, I went to a new dentist because I've been experiencing occasional toothache. Upon seeing my x-rays, he noticed something odd. Apparently, during a root canal a while ago, a piece of an instrument broke off, and has been lodged within ever since. FML
Today, I went to the dentist after 24 hours of severe tooth pain. They did an emergency root canal. After the anesthesia wore off, within minutes, the pain returned only worse than before. Called the dentist, I had to return, only to find they had done the root canal on the wrong tooth. FML

Been there, done that!! And my other dentist was blind so now the new guy found many more teeth problems the last guy overlooked..ughhh FML.

That sucks. I've had to go in to the dentist soooo many times for teeth problems, and its usually going in for what xrays showed shouldve been a filling but by the time we got to that one (and this happened today for the 3rd time on top of 2 we knew were going to be) i got told that i had to have a root canal done. Now I'm stuck with a temporary filling and the nerve exposed for the next two weeks til they can get me in again

Having a dad as a very successful dentist, I'd just like to put out there that decay can't "transfer" from one tooth to another. That's your own fault for not taking good enough care of your teeth

I know that feel, OP! I had a filling done by one dentist, it proceeded to get really infected, so I had to take antibiotics 2-3 times overall. I had 4-5 attempted root canals because every time she cleaned my tooth out it would come back. Eventually, 5 dentists and one abcess later, I had to get my tooth out. Now, while I had very bad dental hygiene when I was younger, I still think it was the original dentist's fault for ******* up a simple filling.
