Today, I was reading butthurt comments about how girl gamers can easily get dates and find love by simply existing. I'm a "girl gamer" who hasn't even found a date, let alone love. I've been looking since I was sixteen. I'm now 27. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was online dating and a girl from high school messaged me. Thinking she might have matured since we're now in our 40's, I messaged back. She then said it was a joke and that I'm still a desperate, pathetic nerd trying to score with the hottest girl in class. FML
Today, I took a cute girl out to an arcade date, and mercilessly dominated her in every game there, to the point she refused to talk to me afterwards. Gamer Pride: 1 - Getting Laid: 0. FML
No thanks
Today, it's been since 2014 that I've been looking for a girlfriend, and the average response I've gotten was no. Today I got, "Ew, hell no." FML
The struggle is real
Today, I'm a 46 year-old woman who hates online dating, and who is now single again. FML
Gamer girl woes
Today, and for the past two weeks, I decided to try online gaming, as it's something I've never done before. I already have a creep stalking me because I mentioned I was single and he's a horny virgin. Remind me never to talk about my lack of love life online again. FML
To the point
Today, after years struggling with obesity, alcoholism, and mental illness, I finally decided I'd fixed myself up enough to try dating. The first girl I went out with said, "You're 31 and you've never dated? Sorry to break it to you, but nobody's going to want to walk a 31-year-old through Dating 101." FML
Fantasy
Today, I got so tired of my friends constantly pestering me about having a girlfriend that I downloaded Monika After Story. Now when they ask, I just say she's long-distance and values her privacy, so I can't show her to them. This is what my life has come to. Forever alone. FML
Projection
Today, after crying after remembering how horribly wrong it went, 10 years ago, with the only person I was ever able to trust enough to let them get close to me, and how no amount of therapy seems to help me, I read an FML about how nobody wants to date a 30 year-old who has never dated. I'm 29 and might as well give up. FML
Today, I was playing GTA4 and went on its fake dating site to email a girl to go on a date with. I've never had much luck with dating in real life, so I figured the game would be more kind to me. After a while I went back to check my email, and the fake girl I'd propositioned told me to get lost. FML
Lower your expectations
Today, I'm 36 and I got told the reason I've never been on a date is because everyone I've asked on a date is too pretty for me and that I needed to look for ugly women. FML

Don't look for love. Love will find you.

I could have written this. I saw that post earlier about female gamers and I grew up playing games. I'll be 27 in a few days and I've been single for over 6 years.

Maybe you should spend less time playing games. I'm not saying give it up or anything if it's something that makes you happy, but if you do the same thing all the time and keep getting the same results, then it's probably time to try something new. You might be missing out on something you could enjoy even more.

You probably don't flaunt the fact that you are a female in your gamertag...a lot of "girl gamers" are just attention ******.

I always found it weird how people are generalized as "gamer girl" or "gamer boy". I know great people who play videogames as well as shitty ones. Same goes for not playing them. I can attest though that it's not just an online fad that boys like girls who are gamers. I've met many guys who upon finding out that I know alot about videogames instantly went "wow, that's awesome" and were suddenly alot more interested in me than before. But I guess it's more a common interest thing. I often find myself talking hours with my (female) friends boyfriends about games/science/engineering because their girlfriends aren't as interested in it and they're happy to talk to someone about those things. But it doesn't mean that we want to date each other or they love their partners any less. So to conclude this rant, maybe you should not reduce yourself to being a "gamer girl" but rather try to find people you like through your common hobby. I'm sure there are some kinds of conventions, fan clubs or online forums for your area where you can meet new people. I understand that this whole situation must be incredibly frustrating for you but if you don't focus too much on the whole boyfriend thing and just try to make new friends with similar interests you might just meet your prince Charming.

You also need to be photoshop pretty, ie: unrealistic. So, to get a date sou need to not exist.

Is it really that easy? From what I've seen of girl gamers, it's not that easy. They get constantly scrutinised by male gamers for being "fake gamer girls", for apparently constantly talking about how they're girl gamers, for not being "hot enough" (because apparently a gamer girl can only be a supermodel-like girl), and for not fitting the criteria posed to them by male gamers (e.g. apparently not knowing enough about the history of video games, or for not wearing video game t-shirts all the time). And sadly, I've seen all these happen to women regularly.
