Today, I was hosting my daughter's thirteenth birthday party. One parent decided to stay at my house, the only parent to do so. The entire night she critiqued every decision I made, from the films to the cake. When it was time to open presents, her kid was the only one without one. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Controlling
Today, I think the only reason my mom hosts my kid's birthday, and other parties at her huge house in the country, is so she can be a complete bitch to us on the day, and if we even sound annoyed, it's, "Well, this is my home, I don't have to open it to anyone." FML
The place to be
Today, I got into THE party of the year. Too bad it was the party my daughter was throwing while her father and I were out of town. FML
Social distancing
Today, we celebrated our daughter's sixth birthday. Out of the 30 invited, 7 showed up. The last one to cancel this morning told us she was ill. My daughter was in tears as this meant the last remaining playmate couldn't come. My wife later saw her tagged on Facebook at another party. FML
Today, during my daughter's 8th birthday at a skating rink, a family showed up that didn't RSVP. The mother brought all 3 of her kids and left them at the party alone. She didn't feed them lunch and they followed me around the whole time asking for money. FML
No means no, Deborah
Today, it's my birthday. A month ago, I'd told everyone I invited to my party that it was going to be adults only. One of my friends brought her kids with her anyway, then started screaming and trashing the place when I politely asked her to leave. The cops had to be called to finally get her out of my house. FML
Today, I found out my daughter was planning a wedding and invited everyone but me. FML
Come home
Today, my daughter is such a bitch that when her husband texted to say he’d be 30 minutes late after work, she rang him to yell at him. He got so upset, he decided not to come home at all and booked a hotel, which was awkward for everyone waiting to surprise him with a birthday party. FML
My house, my rules
Today, my daughter asked to go to a party and I said no, because I know some of the other people going and they're bad news. She then said she only asked permission as a courtesy, and is going anyway and just left. She lives with me but she did turn 18 last week, and I don’t know what to do. FML
Today, I was uninvited from my own birthday party. FML
It was wild
Today, it was my daughter's 11th birthday party. One kid broke a vase, another lost a (baby) tooth, and two kids, including mine, tested positive for Covid. My kid parties harder than I ever have. FML

I admit I'm not the most polite person, but sometimes you just need to tell someone to shut up and leave.

Guess who isn't being invited back.

That sucks OP. I hope she doesn't stay over again!

Some people's parents...

Yeah personally I wouldn't be inviting that family to the next party. No offense to the kid, but that's just rude on so many levels. I would almost call that utterly disrespectful. Happy birthday to your daughter though! :)

she could have just have her child money to give to ops daughter

I hope she doesn't allow the parent to stay over again.

What a bitch, OP. Maybe next time ask parents that you know well?

OP probably didn't ask her to stay, as OP said she was the only parent to do so. But I can tell you if that was my daughter's birthday party, I would not have taken that lying down. I hope OP follows up because I want to know if she said something to that parent.

I'm normally very polite. But too much is just too much, I would have thrown out her ass as well, and let her decide if she wants to leave her child or not (I mean, it's not the poor kid's fault after all to have such a parent).

It's sad because she's ruining her kid's chances of getting invited places too, even though he's not actually the annoying one.

-12 I completely agree. I know if I had been there I wouldn't want to invite the daughter of that mother to anything in fear of her tagging along. This girl is 13 not 6 and teenagers need a little space (and trust) from their parents.

Sad that kids' friendships are sometimes dictated by how well the parents get along!

I just thought of Aziz Ansari: "Guess who just got uninvited from the pizza party? You. I'm gonna go hang out with Brian; he's nice to me."

I read that in his voice too XD

#32: That's how my friendships went when I was younger. The only kids my mother would allow me to hang out with were either: 1) kids of people that she knew when she was growing up or 2) kids of people that attended our church regularly. She actually encouraged me to hang out with a kid that went to church with us and would leave bruises on me every time I went to his house, but scolded me for hanging out with a girl who didn't go to church with us but invited me to go with her to Chuck E. Cheese's one weekend with her parents. Needless to say, I didn't have many decent friends until late in high school.

Some people are just like that, OP, try not to let it get to you.

Don't invite her to the next party.

I wonder if she'd critique your technique if you popped her one in the face. She would deserve it. FYL, OP.

But she gave you something better - advice. And what better gift is there than the gift of knowledge? (Specifically, the knowledge that she and her kid should NOT be invited again because they are party poopers)

This is probably one of my favorite replies to a FML lol I wish I could like this more than once lol

#8: "Party poopers" :D Great comment, couldn't stop thinking about "I like you Cindy.." - don't think many people will get it, but I found it hilarious :D

What's sad is that parent's child will likely grow up to act exactly like her.

Kid's going to be a freeloader just life mom.

Seems like she wasn't your daughters best friend since she didn't make sure there was a present for her "friend". I hate to take it out on the girl but maybe don't invite her next time?
Lukensz 16
Considering the mother's behaviour, I doubt she couldn't afford a present. She sounds like one of those nasty people you see on "those" TV shows.
