Today, I was forced to spend New Years Eve with my strict/conservative parents in the middle of nowhere in Illinois. If I had nothing else, I looked forward to watching the ball drop in NYC. As the seconds counted down the T.V. shut off. Parental controls shut down cable at midnight. FML

Today, I hosted a New Year’s Eve party, but everyone left at 11:45 PM to go to another party because "it sounded more fun." I rang in the new year alone. FML
Today, I told my mom I was going to a New Year's party. She told me to be back by midnight. FML
Today, I celebrated the new year. Alone. FML
Today, I'm spending New Year's Eve absolutely alone. My girlfriend canceled our plans the day before so she could spend it with strangers and booze. Somehow, I still love her. FML
Today, I asked my husband to spend New Year's with me watching a movie or maybe spending some time together. He said, "I can't upset my family by coming to celebrate New Year's with you." For context, we live separately because my Dad passed away and I can't leave my mum alone. FML
Today, my New Year’s Eve consisted of four things: being home alone, drinking cheap alcohol out of a tooth mug, getting an upset stomach from that, then going to bed early with ear plugs. FML
Today, I came back to my appartment to find that I couldn't watch certain channels on my tv. When I called the tv company I found out my parents had put a 'parental block' on all my favorite channels. Im 22 and rent an appartment with my friends. FML
Today, I got all dressed up for a New Year's party. When my parents and siblings left the house to their parties, I got undressed. I wasn't going to a party. I only got dressed up so my family would think I had plans. FML
Today, it's both my 28th birthday and New Year’s Eve. Even though it's a Friday, tonight’s big plans are frozen pizza and going to bed early. I live with my parents and even they are going out tonight, leaving me to watch the dog. Happy Birthday, loser! FML
Today, I am passing New Year's Eve alone with my cat because everybody around me decided to celebrate in close committee, had a family emergency, or caught the C plague. FML

It replays yes if the area tv station so decides but it drops at 11pm in both the cities I have lived in in the midwest except in 2000 when they replayed it so OP is full of it.

I'm in Illinois. They played the NY ball drop at 11PM our time. OP has me baffled. But regardless, OP - you need to learn to stick up for yourself, and remember that your teenage years don't last forever. Try to set yourself up for success in school and work, and get out as soon as you can.

uhm i honestly think this is BS because in IL the time is diff then that in NY...i watched the ball drop on tv in WI right by IL...the time difference nothing but the ball dropped at 11oclock our time here and in Illinois...they didnt drop it at 12 here...in NY they are an hour ahead...not gona lie it is funny if that actually happened but if you were in IL it would hav dropped at 11 not 12

They replay the NYC ball drop for all time zones in the United States. I'm in the central time zone and I saw it at 11PM and 12AM.

Ah, I didn't see this little thread before mentioning it above. I used to watch it all the time at 9 when I was younger(I live in California), so I assume they show the one in New York, and then the ones after that in Illinois, too. Even the freaking Disney Channel did. =D
