Today, I was at a piano lesson playing a song I had worked very hard to make perfect. Halfway through, my teacher abruptly stops me and asks, "Did you notice that I rearranged the furniture?" FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Pure evil
Today, I was teaching a ten year old how to play piano. Halfway through the lesson, she made a minor mistake, which, trying to be a good tutor, I corrected her. She smiled up at me, paused, then slammed the key cover down onto my fingers. FML
Today, my piano teacher told me that she "forgot" to inform me that she volunteered me to play a 5-page song in a recital in front of 300 people that's happening next week. FML
******* Stevie T
Today, I was happy to take a break and do a guitar performance, but my teacher was the rudest ever. He had his guitar at the front row, playing while I was, and he played the song live with me just to confuse me, and ending up ruining the performance. FML
Today, my piano teacher complimented my song, calling it great. I was proud and thanked him, then realized he was being sarcastic. FML
Feeling a light 4 on this one
Today, I started recording my piano exam pieces to submit, and I was proud at my interpretation that I spent time trying to make it sound good. That was until my tutor walked in and said I had "shit rhythm and ass intonation." My mom was there. FML
Is that a pass then?
Today, I had a piano exam, for which I'd worked hard. I went in, and the examiner asked me to play some scales. I was so nervous, I played 3 octaves and then realised I'd ran out of space. I might have then said, "FUCK!" really loudly… and she heard. FML
Bad omen or what?
Today, I was playing piano for a wedding rehearsal. Bored, I decided to pass the time playing through a book of music I found in the piano bench. Some time later the bride turned to me and screamed at me to stop. I had turned the page and had begun to play "Let's Call The Whole Thing Off." FML
Today, at school, I was asked to play a complex piano piece in front of my class, teachers and guests. I nailed it, but what stood out most for everyone was how I apparently looked like I was being possessed while performing. FML
Show off
Today, I had a test in orchestra class, which I'd practiced over 30 hours for. After I played my part, which I thought I did very well, my teacher asked how long I'd practiced. Trying to show off, I said, "Oh, just 30 minutes." My teacher said, "It shows; that was terrible." She was serious. FML
Play 4′33″ by John Cage
Today, after I'd told this girl I’m seeing that I play piano to impress her, it turns out her father is a pianist and has a grand piano in their house. Tonight, I’m supposed to go to her place to play her my "favorite piece." FML

Jesus Christ OP, how could you be so inconsiderate as to start playing a song you've practiced for hours to get right without even complimenting the teacher on the furniture. Talk about being rude. But in all seriousness, next time try and figure out if anything has changed to avoid them interrupting you in the future. Or just play a quick game of 20 Questions with them.

That's terrible, find a better piano teacher! I'd be overly pissed if someone stopped me midway during a song!!

Nope, I think playing music is more important than that

Or you could go into Haydn .-. Speaking of which why couldn't Beethoven find his teacher?

That job is underrated. They have to deal people who dont practice, people who aren't musical and even people who only come to talk (lessons with two people at the same time). My piano teacher told me that these things make it really hard to learn a person to play piano. His reason to retire.

Seems time to find a new teacher if possible. This one obviously doesn't care about you at all.
BntyHntrSeattle 30
Yeah- she doesn't have a Handel on the teaching, and she seema Verdi careless about her students. She needs to go into Haydn!!

Ha! Seems* what am I, some Italian stereotype??

OP should stop being pissed and act natural...

If the OP has been going to this teacher for a while than it's reasonable that they should know what the place looks like. If they know what the place looks like they should be able to notice if it has changed. If the changes are very noticeable and an obvious effort was put into making the room look nice, it's actually pretty rude for the OP not to say something. "You rearranged." "I like the changes you've made" "That's an interesting spot for that chair". Anything really to acknowledge the effort obviously put in to impress or make people like the OP more comfortable. I am not saying that it was right for the teacher to interrupt the OP to ask if they had noticed the changes. That was wrong as hell and the teacher is an asshat for doing it. He/she should have waited till the OP was done and had given his/her feedback on the OP's playing, that is what she's paid for after all, and then asked. All I'm saying is that the OP was a bit rude as well.

That's not even the big question. The big question is what was the song you were trying to perfect?

Yeah! Start a Chopin-Liszt of teachers in your area so you can keep learning!
Gothicbunnyx3 16
If someone stopped me midway through a piece to have small talk I'd be pissed. If it was just something to correct me on then sure, stop me midway. But it was very rude and not teacher like to stop OP like that.

Well...did you?

Your teacher sounds like a pain in the ass. As a violin teacher, I would never interrupt a students playing like that unless it was for constructive criticism. Otherwise, it's just rude.
