Today, I told my friend, who's a marriage counsellor, about some of the things my husband does that I hate, like snoring loudly and eating with his mouth open. I wasn't asking for advice, but she just looked me dead in the eyes and said, "Divorce." Bye-bye, faith in humanity. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Go on, why?
Today, my husband ended an argument with, "Do you want to know why people don't like being around you?" FML
Today, my marriage counselor got divorced. FML
Such a pity
Today, I really tried to talk to my wife how I feel that she hates me and is with me out of pity. She denied it all but by the end of the conversation mentioned she wants a divorce. FML
Double standard
Today, I realized I sacrificed all my friends to make sure my marriage was successful, but sometimes when under extreme stress from my wife, I use the B-word and that’s enough for her to want to leave me. However, it’s perfectly fine for her to say "Fuck you" and that I’m a everything but a decent human being. FML
Today, my husband and I went to marriage counselling. I confessed something that was bothering me, but he didn't understand. Our counselor repeated word-for-word what I said right back at him. He turned to me angrily and shouted, "Why couldn't you just say that the first time?!" FML
Cunning stunt
Today, I asked my wife for a divorce, after I tried everything to save our marriage, and it was a gut-wrenching decision. I tried easing her into it, but she instantly agreed. She had packing boxed ready to move out. Now I suspect she was sabotaging our marriage for months so I'd call it quits. FML
Today, I told my husband I wanted a divorce. He told me he didn't. End of discussion. FML
Request denied
Today, I told my wife I wanted a divorce. I haven’t been in love with her for a long time and I've fallen in love with a girl at my job. When I told her this, she responded with, “No, fuck that, we're going to couples' therapy and you are gonna be a father to our kids!” I guess that’s a “No.” FML
Romance is dead
Today, my daughter came over, furiously ranting that her husband had asked for a divorce. During the conversation, I asked what she did to make him happy. She glared at me and yelled, "It's not my job to make my husband happy!" I'm on her husband's side after that. FML
Boring FML
Today, my wife of seven years told me she wants a divorce because I'm boring. FML

Your friend must be an FML commenter, right? Haha, of course she is. Give us her username and we'll set her straight for ya.

You need new friends and your worthless "friend" a new profession. It's a shame how our culture has become so accustomed to throwing everything away instead of mending things.

To everyone else saying that everyone is too quick to divorce: you see a symptom of what the real problem is, but you're missing what the problem is. The issue is that many couples marry far too quickly. They barely know who the person is before they decide to marry. I suggest not proposing until you've been dating and hanging out with mutual friends regularly for a few years - and be certain that this is someone you will call your best friend for the rest of your life and that someone you can build a family with, before you marry them. We shouldn't encourage all these crappy marriages to last longer - we should encourage people to not form the crappy marriages in the first place.

Wow, I'd hate to hear what your friend would suggest about something serious....

OP - you deserve it. If all you do is complain about your husband behind his back with your friends, you deserve it. If little things like these get on your nerves so, what makes you think you'll be able to raise a family with him? Kids are going to be doing whatever he's doing 10x worse, so you better get over it or you better take your friend's advice and pack your bags while that's still an option.

wow none of those are reasons to divorce but they are normal, snoring isn't his fault and you should probably say something to him about eating with his mouth open. If those are the main problems then you don't have any problems, you should ask her why she's telling you to divorce him.

I'm a counseling graduate student and my co-workers often ask about their own mental issues. We work in a pizza place. They aren't paying me, aren't doing their jobs while asking me questions, and could never be clients as it would be a dual relationship. Therefore, they get comments I would never say to a client. OP's friend probably did the same.

I hope she doesn't say that to her clients.

Im going along the lines that she was being sarcastic she prob had to deal with bigger issues for couples than your husband snoring and chewing with his mouth open there are nasal strips and mouth retainers that are to help with snoring and say something to your husband about him chewing with his mouth open cause thats just really rude good luck

Well if you were talking to her as a friend and not as a client perhaps she was just tired of hearing you complain about little things and wanted to give you a chocking answer to make you stop.

She's a counselor, you don't need to ask for advice, she's going to give it to regardless. There will always be a friend who gives you their advice despite whether or not you asked for it. That being said, she sounds like a horrible counselor and gives shitty advice. Everyone has pet peeves about their significant other. Doesn't mean they need a divorce. Fyl.
