Today, I spent a full hour working on my British accent. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I spent four hours practicing funny voices. I have literally nothing better to do all day. FML
Bonjour!
Today, while working alone, I decided to just try some random impressions, and so I ended up doing a French accent when a customer walked in. To avoid embarrassment, I had to continue faking the accent as he struck up a long conversation with me. FML
Today, for the second time this week, I was asked to stop putting on such an obviously fake "British" accent. I am British and have lived here all my life. FML
Today, my mom thought it would be a good idea for me to talk with a British accent during my job interview to make me sound smarter. I'm applying for a job at McDonald's. FML
Today, while on my break at work, my workmates convinced me to perform my "Indian accent" piece. Everyone laughed while I was doing it. Everyone, that is, but my Indian boss. FML
Why would you do that?
Today, my best friend and I went to the movies. There was a hot cashier, so I thought it would be cool to talk in a British accent to try and be sexy. I walked up and started talking when he interrupted me and said in a very heavy British accent, "I know you're faking. You can stop now." FML
Today, at work, I was helping someone who really sounded like she had a Boston accent. So, I asked her where she was from. She has never been out of state. Turns out she has a speech impediment. FML
Weird flex, but okay…
Today, I went through a fast-food drive-thru and gave my order in a perfect British accent for fun. When I got to the window, the cashier handed me my food and said, "I love your accent!" Caught off guard, I replied, "Oh, thanks a lot!" in my normal New Jersey accent. The confusion on her face was priceless. FML
What word was it?
Today, a tourist from an English-as-second-language country taught me a new word. In English. FML
Today, I had my first interview. Everything was going well until I made him repeat his name numerous times, as I couldn't understand what he was saying due to his thick accent. FML

So was it an English, Irish, Welsh or Scottish accent? There's no such thing as a 'British' accent. I'm assuming you mean it as in Queen's English, which I've only ever heard from the Royal family or American Tv shows

I do different american accents and i always hear an american accent and go: oh, that sounds texan, or that sounds like they're from new jersey etc. I dont know if thats just me, but i know there are different accents in different states. Just saying.

yeah. defiantly. I'm from California, so I think I speak typical American english, but I find it funny when people with heavy accents think they talk normally.

110 and 118 I'm english and NO-ONE in the whole of Britain says "cheerio" or "pip pip" anymore. We haven't for about 90 years. It's a load of codswallop. (In case you didn't know, codswallop is British for bullshit)

I'm English, and I think if some foriegners want to remain ignorant to the fact that the Uk is comprised of 4 different countries, each with many different regional accents within them, then leave them to it. (I'm from Cornwall btw, which means I sound a bit like a pirate as far as the yanks are concerned, and to many brits it means I sound like an uneducated country-bumpkin or a red-neck!) The brits here don't need to defend themselves by saying certain stereotypes aren't true, because guess what, sometimes they are! Just like, i'm sure, some American stereotypes are true aswell. You cannot speak for the whole damn country, you can only speak for yourselves and your own experiences. Get over yourselves. Cheerio! :)

I don't think I we call them countries in the us. the uk is a country, not each individual territory.

Well now you know better! The UK is comprised of 4 different COUNTRIES, which as a whole make up the UNITED KINGDOM. Try telling a Scottish person that Scotland is not it's own country and you'll have problems my love! lol
