Today, I saw my unemployed 29-year-old son, who still lives with us, reading the work section of the newspaper and prayed that he was looking for a job. He was looking for the comics. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Old boys clubs
Today, my dad called my recently unemployed son a no-good bum for not job hunting. My son literally spent all day beefing up his resume and scheduling job interviews for the whole week. It's not the 1920s anymore, dad. You can't just walk into a building, ask for a job, and get hired right on the spot. FML
Today, my son's teacher asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He put down "unemployed". FML
Today, I actually resorted to checking the newspaper obituaries to see where the deceased were employed, just so I can find a job opening. FML
Today, I walked in on my son flopping around on the floor with a blanket wrapped around his legs. Apparently at age 22, he'd rather pretend to be a mermaid than go out and get a damn job. FML
So young, so jaded
Today, like every day, I scrolled through my social media feeds, seeing happy couples, people buying houses and landing their dream jobs. I, on the other hand, am a single 23 year-old man in a dead end job, who still lives with his parents. FML
Today, my son's homework was to write a story about what he wants to be when he grows up. He wrote that he plans on being unemployed and living at home until we throw him out, then he'll live under a bridge. He's only 12, but already planning for a future as an unemployed bum. FML
Today, after months of job hunting, I finally got a phone call. They were impressed with me. That's when my son decided to throw a tantrum asking for food. After some silence, the caller told me they were looking for someone who wasn't juggling little kids at home and hung up. My son is 20. FML
Today, my son finally got a job for the first time in his life. He only did it so he can upgrade his PC and buy Overwatch. He's 24. FML
How about…
Today, my father told me to "go get a job." He has been unemployed for three years. FML
Parenting in 2021
Today, I found out my son's dad stole his unemployment card and took the money. My son was homeless at the time and using his dad's address for mail. FML

number 1: why'd you want to straighten them in the first place number 2: why would you put something hot toward your eye if you know you know your going to close your eye which would cause you to NOT get your eyelash? YDI

You're letting him stay there, shut the **** up until you actually force him to do something. Instead of whining to the internet, kick his ass out. Call the cops if necessary. He is only doing what is allowed by the bounds set down by his landlord. So **** off and die.

Maybe he needs to find something he's passionate about, encourage him to try new things and meet new people. If he's not seeing anyone, maybe you should encourage him to start dating, the right woman (if he finds one that can see past his "situation") can push him ahead and give him the motivation he needs to succeed. I wouldn't kick him out immediately 'cause he might feel rejected and hit rock bottom by doing drugs or getting depressed because he won't have anything to hold on to. You should make him sign a paper which says he has a certain amount of time to stay with you, and any day after that he will have to pay you rent. Then you should hang it somewhere he always lurks at. Good luck. (:

Do you realize how hard it is to get a job? Granted this guy may not being trying at all though.

if there are no jobs, what is the point in looking at the newspaper employment section? also, be aware that the old way of job hunting - which I used to do - is gone. no longer do you look in the paper, then spend all day running around dropping off resumes and filling out applications. it's far more cost effectives for companies to only accept electronic applications. so he could be sending off tens if not hundreds of applications in an hour or two in the morning, then reading the comics. one resume / application sent to a site like monster.com can be available to thousands of companies.
