Today, I received a phone call from my father asking how I spelled my name. Not only was he the parent who picked out my name, he was completely serious. FML

crimson28 tells us more.

Like I said, he doesn't have any sort of disease, he was calling to make sure that the form he was sending in had my name on it the exact same why my license has my name, and he said, " ______ is spelled with one L?" Also, he's not an idiot and is the best father anyone could ask for. He just wasn't thinking and I was having a fairly crappy day in the first place. So it made it a bit more noticeable.

He didn't have your name programmed in his phone?

My dad does that too. And I'm named after him.

your name is probably spelled a hundred different ways and maybe he spells it differently than you...

fail. lol

It was my middle name, which wasn't programmed into his phone and isn't spelled a 100 different ways, at the most 4 different ways.

Maybe it was just one of those moments were you forget to spell the simplest of words, it has happened to me haha

If your father has some kind of auditory processing disorder, it might not be so strange. My husband has this, and he frequently has trouble spelling names. He once told me he didn't know how to spell his own name, Theodore, until he was nine.

Lol thats a little thing. Happens to everybody.

And he doesn't have any sort of disease...

My father picked out my name and misspells it all the time. He doesn't even ask. It's not a big deal, get the hell over it.
