Today, I received a letter saying that I was accepted into university and that I qualified for a number of scholarships. Too bad an equivalent sum of money will be spent fixing the car I hit, after spinning out on ice, whilst driving home from said university. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got into my dream university. I also got turned down for the scholarship and the loan that would enable me to actually go. FML
Today, I found out that I owe my college a little over $10,000. Why? Because, due to a slight misspelling of my name, the scholarship that I have been going insane trying to meet the requirements for is not actually giving me any funding. FML
Today, my parents gave me a letter they'd forgotten about since late last year. In it was a $30,000 scholarship to a local master's program with an application due date of two weeks ago. FML
Today, I received my acceptance letter to one of the most prestigious universities in the US, as well as a nice scholarship. I was so proud of myself, I eagerly showed my dad, hoping he would shed a tear or two. His only words were, "Just get a job so you can get the hell out of my house." FML
Winner
Today, after a lot of effort put into it and finally getting a scholarship, they emailed me saying they can't afford to fund me because they were impacted by the pandemic. I'd already denied other scholarship offers because theirs was the best offer. FML
Today, I spent ages applying for a scholarship online. I found out on the very last page that I do not meet the qualifications for it. FML
Can't afford this shit
Today, I was cleaning my father's study room and wondering why I did not receive my acceptance/rejection letter from a college I really wanted. I found the acceptance letter, on his desk, also approving of a full scholarship. The deadline to confirm was a month ago. FML
Today, I received another letter of rejection from the university of my dreams. I got it the first time, but thanks for reminding me. FML
Could go either way, really
Today, I received a full scholarship to the university of my dreams in England. Being born into a fairly poor family, I've never received anything for free and I worked on my grades like a dog last semester to achieve this. However, the scholarship is only valid if the UK stays in the EU. FML
Bad timing
Today, as I was talking to my girlfriend about how I need to find another job to be able to afford school next fall, I hit a deer causing about $3,000 in damages to my car. FML

exactly! someone smart enough to get scholarships should also be smart enough to have insurance.

YDI for not having insurance; otherwise, your insurance would have paid for it, and only your rates would have risen. Also, but not certainly, you probably weren't driving very well.

Its illegal not to have insurance. Sucks that the weather caught you out but insurance is there for a reason.

your insurance has to cover it cause the weather caused it. and your rates can't go up cause it's an accident caused by the weather. happended to a good friend of mine. he also was told he had to pay out of pocket but he fought with his insurance companyy and they knew they had to pay so they payed for it.

yes insurance has to cover it if he had insurance... but you can't blame the accident on the weather.. you have to drive according to the conditions. It's Canada, if you aren't used to it, then stop driving. If the weather is really bad and you have to go 10km/hr, then that's what you have to do..I live here too, and I've driven in some horrible weather, but never had an accident. Stupidest thing i ever heard 'the weather caused the accident'... the only time insurance won't raise your premiums is when you hit an animal that runs into the road, that falls under comprehensive coverage. and if OP didn't have insurance, then he was driving illegally.

Even my liability insurance covers everything on the other car if I hit someone. It just doesn't cover mine. I was wondering if it was illegal up in Canada, as well, and since the above poster says it is, then it's a complete YDI if the OP didn't have insurance.
