Today, I received a call from the company I applied to, only to have my father pick it up and make fun of the man's accent. They won't call me back or take any of my calls, and my dad is completely unapologetic. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I called my dad, because I haven't spoken to him in a while, and I wanted to invite him to my graduation in May. When he picked up, I said, "Hey, how have you been, dad?" He scoffed, "Wrong number" and hung up the phone. FML
Today, being jobless and all, I tried calling my dad for a job after my many years of pride. He invited me to an interview to compete against 10 people, probably more qualified than I am. FML
Thanks mom
Today, I checked my inbox and realized I got an email from a potential employer, saying they were having trouble getting a hold of me by phone. They called while my mom was using my phone to look up directions to a place, and she answered, kindly hanging up when they asked for me. FML
Today, I got a missed call from my dad, who hasn't talked to me in months and has vowed not to have anything to do with me. I called him back excitedly and apologized for missing his call, and we had a 20-second conversation about how his phone accidentally dialed my number. FML
Canceled
Today, I got a call from the only company that asked me to come in for an interview of the many applications I submitted. I answered it even though I was at my current job. My boss heard and chewed me out. The call was to cancel the interview since the position was filled. FML
Clueless
Today, after my dad got frustrated at me last month for not having a job and completely taking over my job searching, claiming it’s not that hard and he’d show me how it’s done. Since then, not one company has called or emailed him back and he doesn’t know why. Welcome to job searching in 2024, Dad. FML
Probably not
Today, I missed multiple calls from the company I applied to. That was the supervisor calling, wanting to hire me. I then remembered my idiotic voicemail I made months ago where I pretended to answer and say stupid stuff for 5 minutes. I don't think I'm going to get the job. FML
Thanks dad
Today, I found out why the only business in town that operates in my chosen industry won’t hire me. Several months ago, my father antagonised the owner, bringing up my name in the process. I haven’t spoken to the man in five years. FML
Today, I was at the fish store asking if they were hiring. My stepdad decided to humiliate me by screaming at them repeatedly that I'm a good person and that I deserve the job. FML
Today, after months of job searching, I finally got a call about one of my applications. I wasn't able to answer it, but he left a voicemail. I've listened to it over and over, and I can't understand the contact information. He called from a restricted number. FML

Shitty of your dad to do that, unprofessional for the company to hold that against you. Maybe you're better off.

I didn't know 5 year olds were capable of having kids.

Ah family, you can't choose them but have to live with them. Your dads fault though, not yours! I would definitely be more than pissed

Mate I'm sorry but your dad is a ****
Snafuusmc 12
He's a chicken?
Vert90 11
Chicken is the female, **** the male. How ironic.
rawr_ily96 24
Actually, and I know this is late, the chicken is the animal itself. Males are either **** or rooster. Females are hens.

Sounds like your Dad thought it was one of your friends goofing around and did the same. :)

Still should have apologised later :/
coffee_man900 16
Yes but some people have a hard time saying "I'm sorry" when they realize that they have screwed up. I'm one of them. Give it time. :)

No, sounds like the father is racist. And he doesn't have a hard time apologizing... because he has nothing to be sorry about in his mind. Why do people automatically try to side with the person who does the jerk thing? The father was being a racist prick.
coffee_man900 16
Two sides to every story #69 I am not taking sides, you are. My speculation was that OP's Father could have made a stupid mistake. Furthermore, sometimes, someone has to take the side of the "racist jerk" because of Trolls like you that attack people without a clue of what really happened. You obviously didn't even bother to read or understand what I wrote. Perhaps instead of reading all this crap, you could go make someone a sammich, and well, maybe Shut up? That would be wonderful. Oh and, have a nice day. :)

27 - I hope you don't have kids. You don't deserve the privledge.

32- don't you think that's a little harsh? get over it. someone made a dumb comment. that doesn't make him unworthy of being a parent!! he'd probably be better than the OP's dad!

Dads -.- Once, my dad was driving me to the mall and i was halfway in halfway out of the car when he drove like five meters and i was screaming because i thought i was going to fall and he finally stopped. I got in the car, still frightend and i told him "Watch it!" and he said "Oh, I did. I was just so certain you were inside the car." So, as always, it was my fault -.-

Your grammar, spelling, punctuation, and lack of capitalization killed me...

High five him in the face.

I sometimes wonder how I would react if one of my Daughters assaulted me. Would not be pretty. Not good advice at all girl. I would also speculate that, at 14, you would feel the wrath if you slapped your Father in the face. Now behave! :)

Yes sir! *Sits in corner and eats a bag of pretzels*

It was a joke dude...

The man may have done something foolish, but, come on man he's still your dad. However you kinda deserve it for only applying to one place.
cthewhatever 9
Where does it say he applied to only one place?
coffee_man900 16
It doesn't and it's a She. I guess her Father told her who the caller said they were. :)

Dumb comment

It doesn't say anywhere that she only applied to one place. So what if she did? We have no idea of knowing what the job was. I say fyl even more if it was the only job you wanted/applied for. OP, your dad is a dick. Im sure he know what he did wasn't cool, he just doesn't want to own up to it--that is exactly how my mother is. NEVER will she say "im sorry, i made a mistake". I bet your dad had no idea who it was and probably just assumed it was a friend (not that it makes it ok to make fun of anyone) go to the place in person and try to explain your fathers immature behavior.
coffee_man900 16
I agree #53 jojimugo, but we forgive you. :)
