Today, I ran into an old friend for whom I used to have feelings. I hadn't seen her in years, so I thought it would be funny if I went up to her and said, "Hey, you look familiar, do I know you?" She thought I had really forgotten her and burst into tears. FML
Today, I spent a lot of money buying a birthday gift for a close friend, only to find out I'm not even invited to the party. FML
Today, I ran into an old friend of mine at the store. All was going fine, until she showed me her new fiancé. My now ex-boyfriend. FML
Today, I received a birthday present from a friend. It was the very same gift I gave to her for Christmas. FML
Today, I can't seem to let go of what my family had done. Years ago, they spent hundreds, if not a thousand, for gifts on a family friend's baby shower, yet have bought nothing for my shower, which was two months ago, not to mention none of them attended the shower either. They've had the registry for 5 months, and I'm due in 3 days. FML
Today, I received an angry phone call from a friend whose birthday party I missed last night. Yesterday, I gave birth to my son. She claims that I ruined her party and demands I still bring her a birthday gift. FML
Today, I went to a high school reunion. An old friend I hadn't seen in a while suddenly came up to me and gasped, "Oh, thank God!" I was about to greet her and catch up when she added, "I'm not the only one who gained weight!" FML
Today, I ran into an old friend at the grocery store and told them, "Let’s catch up soon!" We then ran into each other in every single aisle. It got awkwarder and awkwarder, and by the fifth time I was pretty sure neither of us wanted to see the other ever again. FML
Today, after I spent quite some time getting thoughtful gifts for my friend and her kids ahead of their visit, she made a big fuss about how she'd "forgotten" to bring the gift she'd bought for me. Later, she casually admitted that she'd intentionally not bought me anything because she, "didn't think I'd need it." FML
Today, I hung out with a friend who has been too busy to hang out with me in a few months. I decided to make the day super special with fun plans and spent a lot of money doing so. When I got home, her Facebook status said, "Pointless day, gone to bed." FML

28- I do, and I don't even have kids. I'd say that's a very reasonable possibility. Also, how's OPs friend to know its some expensive gift? It'd almost say that's added to make their gift sound enhanced and thus their friend should be somehow MORE impressed.

My baby shower was a couple of months before I was due. In the last few weeks of pregnancy, I was so forgetful that I had to carry a memo pad with me to jot down whatever came into my head lest I forget where I was going and why, my symptoms, if I'd eaten, etc. Hormones are a bitch. After I had the baby, I was so sleep-deprived I forgot my baby's name and my husband's. I probably wouldn't have recognised any friends. The point is, if you can't cut a friend a little slack then buying an expensive baby gift was just for show. Money isn't the best measure of friendship.
